Boxed, because I couldn't get digital, stupid staggered release.

Pre-ordered the boxed version, prefer having a physical box sometimes.  Pre-ordered a long time ago before the official pre-order was announced aswell so managed to pick it up a lot cheaper than the current price.

I bought a SE from Origin.com so I had to vote "digital". But i also bought a CE for "future considerations" so there is that.

I believe that the digital will outnumber the Boxed by at least two to one.

I pre-ordered a physical copy because I refuse to use Origin. Plus, the box extras seem cooler than the digital extras.

i pre ordered the digital copy because i prefer to have only physical box from non-mmos that i can trade in later on for other games... im not trading in my mmos so i just get it digital... the only mmo i got all the boxes is WoW and its because i got them all for 20 bucks....  got rift digital, AoC digital, dcuo digital, plus some steam and origin digitals too.

CE Boxed for the extras.  That an the hope that if I need to uninstall in the future, I don't need to download everything.

Ahh yes the feared "Origin", scourge of the internets! Thank god that they are the only digital provider of games out there. I would hate to see the STEAM erupt from you guys ears at the IMPULSE of having to buy your games on-line!image

Let me guess, you are all wrapped up the misunderstood ToS aren't you?

I pre ordered the CE, couldnt resist its charms! I genuinely go for digital though, in fact i think its the only boxed game i will have bought this year for PC

The only time I buy box, is if the CE has a price I can afford, or there is something else offered that I really want thats not offered in digital. Needless to say I bought digital. It also saves room from having to store the box somewhere.

So the box extra of color stone, 30 days pre-paid and early access are better than the digital color stone, 30 days pre-paid and early access?

    Gotcha!

I wont even touch the Origin thing since someone else did.

I went box for myself, and my wife went Digital Download. Dont need more than one box around.

He was probably referring to the CE versus Digital Deluxe, so...

    Boxed CE. Because...uh... that's how I roll.

I pre-ordered the box and do so whenever possible. As others have said, I much prefer to have a physical copy. Digital copies (while convenient) are the party poopers of games. They're no fun, and don't really add to the beauty of my library ;)

I know it's far from scientific, but I'm surprised by the results so far.  I would have expected digital sales to be much higher than boxed sales...

    Boxed - CE.

If I hadn't wanted the physical swag (statue, soundtrack, authenticator, book), I would have gone with the DDE.

Yeah me too. I think their was/is a poll on the OBoards with the same question. IIRC digital was the clear leader with a lot more votes too (over 1,000 I think). But the CE was outselling the SE/DDE in boxed sales.

Dont you need Origins to play this game? So...you going to have to use Origins anyway?

No, you won't need Origin to play SWTOR.  This has been stated by the dev team many times since Origins was launched.

    No you do not.*

*Except for Early Access. Read the fine print at the bottom of this page: http://buy.swtor.com/us/#pre-order-instructions. Once you DL TOR you can uninstall Origin and destroy the HD it was on.

Why the hell does everyone hate Origin so much? I have it installed, it runs fine for me, no hiccups or anything, I have played games on it fine and it does not detract from my gaming experience at all. Please someone explain why everyone has this rediculous grudge against the program. Does anyone remember what Steam was like the first year it was out? Compared to that, Origin is a breeze, and it is still an infant, only coming out a few months ago, give it a break people.

I didn't preorder.  I'm too excited for D3 and GW2 and likely won't have much time for SW:TOR.  Hopefully a year from now they'll have added some good space combat ala XWing Alliance.

I preordered and went physical because of the Origin thing. I would have bought it digitally or else.

Well why most people do not like Origin is because during the license agreement they are asking for full access to search your HDD. Imagine what a hacker could do with that kind of information when it starts sipping through their hacked backend servers.

  • gotanksgotanks Member UncommonPosts: 16

Well I researched this license agreement mistake that was apparent in the beginning of Origin's launch, and it was admitted by EA to be a mistake in wording on their part and therefore the license agreement has since been re-written. And if their program still has the ability to collect information from your computer (which any program that is connected to the internet has that ability, including Microsoft which openly states they have full access to your data), why not just protect the damn things you want kept private. There are things called firewalls and privacy software. If the information on your computer is THAT important to you that you feel your life will end if it gets stolen, install the appropriate software to protect yourself. Any good firewall can be set to stop programs like Origin from sending data back to their servers. By the way, everytime you access Facebook, all of your information is up for grabs via 3rd parties, lets boycott them too. The people complaining about Origin are basically just trolls that want to nitpick at the wording of a license agreement, its like attacking McDonalds for using processed chicken brains in their nuggets when every fast food place does it (weird analogy).
