I am enjoying it. Obviously very different than most MMORPGs.. But in a way, it feels a lot like EVE because you can queue stuff and not play for awhile and still advance.
It is free, but VERY pay2win, but it appears very few people actually pay. I play on a newer world, and despite being new to the game, I am in the top 10 out of probably a thousand active players. The guys ahead of me are not very far ahead, so it is obvious nobody paid anything yet. But looking at the store, I could have a huge lead on the entire world with just $20.
If you played RTS games a lot, you will pick up on it fast, the same sort of decisions have to be made. Some slight differences like feeding your troops being very easy. There is absolutely no visualization of your troops or combat, which is kinda boring. You send your army, 1 second after they arrive at the target, you get a report of how the fight went, and then the troops return.
Definitely take the ´recommended´ server as it will put you on the newest server and continent and you will be able to be competitive.
I thought it was a lot of fun until i left for a week,my alliance kicked me out, and some whores robbed me blind and stole my town! :X and i never played games like it before and found it fun and easy to learn.
Played it for a while when it first came out but it requires contant maintenance, like CivWorld, Evony, Ikariam, etc. At that point it became a second job and not anything I am really interested in.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Wow. .. interesting timewarp with the posts there.

I know this is off topic...but it annoys me that EA just decides to use old beloved IP's like Ultima and just stamp them on anything.
Ultima's been kaput for about a decade now and EA has shown no intention in dusting it off and putting a high shine to it. It's unfortunate, but the likeliness of UO2 happening is the same as the world economic crisis coming to an end tomorrow.
Yeah I know, but the world of Sosaria was very well developed and still holds a place in my heart. There were what...12 ultima games?
It's just sad to see EA completely disregard the any sanctity that the ultima name once had. It would be like if Lucas sold the rights to Star Wars and then some company comes out with a game called Star Wars Barons that is just generic scifi and has nothing to do with star wars.
Hmm...

It's very sad indeed, as well as just plain silly. EA has the rights to one of the original series of open world RPGs, many of which are much beloved by fans worldwide. I myself happen to consider Ultima 7 to be the BEST open world RPG ever made. A modern Ultima game, if done right, could very easily compete with or even surpass the Elder Scrolls series.
Such a pity crap like this gets an Ultima label slapped on it.

Yep especially because R.G specifically asked and kept the Lord British name, and sold them Ultima Ip; yet they call their game Lord of Ultima which is clearly like an insult to him. As if the Ultima serie wasn't a good enough gift to them, those guys are really below everything, but i guess that's how most of human kind is anyway. Also it is clear they try to use the renown of R.G here, if i was him i would have sued those guys tbh. But i guess you have other better things to do in life than suing all the fuckers you are passing by.
This game is such a disgrace to the once former great Ultima IP but it just shows that everything the greedy rats at EA are touching is going downhill fast doesn't matter if its Ultima, Mass Effect, Dragon Age or a sports game...
Rehashing a game using a known IP and declaring it p2w is their new way of milking former glorious franchises, best examples are Warhammer Dota and LoU.
I know R.G will have better things to do but still hope he does sue them, always fun seeing EA losing money.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

In a way it is similar to Might and Magic, and what they did with Heroes of Might and Magic. Same name, two completely different games.
I played most of the Ultima series and UO for about 5 years. From what I have experienced, there is almost nothing in the game that resembles Ultima or UO. They name their cathedral ´trinsic chapel´ but that is about it. The very endgame seems to revolve around having 8 cities near shrines.. but that is months until it even enters gameplay.. There are also moongates on the map, but they don´t work. There are no NPC named cities and no NPCs at all other than monsters.
But really, the ultima series, and even UO (prime) is so many years ago that the IP has very little value now.

It's cool if you like that genre of game play its a MMORTS browser game. Patience is required but its more fast paced than most games in that genre.

Fun for a little bit but then it gets old.
ah i see isee thanks all for the responces..sounds like something that may be cool but no time at all for what it takes to get into it and keep it up
I challenged my reflection to a staring contest....4 days later i won
