Just got wow, pretty lame...does it get any better?

So I finally decided to put down SWG and pick up WoW because iv heard its this and that...well picked up the game and so far it seems really lame. Fighting seems to get really repetitive and the graphics look pretty shanty(on a 6800gt). I do have a little hope as iv only been playing the game a few hours.

I did hear that this game was a very simple rpg, but does it change at all throughout the game, get any better?

I dont know what to do, I need a online game to play that is really fun, but there isnt anything out right now! Damn you CU.

WoW is simply mindless fun for most.   But it does change when you  hit 60th level because you can PvP all day long or raid for hours, instance zones with 10-40 other players to get that rare loot to make you kill other players easier.

If you don't like the graphics now, it will not get better buying a better card either.

WoW really lacks the depth that SWG has or the superior PvP system of DAoC at the moment however that might change with future patches.

im actually not a fan of pvp anyways. This sucks. Well I think I can still return the game to walmart, since they take everything back. Its like the games are to deep or not deep enough. I was considering EQ2 or AC2, but I hear bad things about them to...what else is left?!?! :(

I quit both SWG and DAoC. Reasons below.

SWG: Confusing, mindless, couldnt find any useful shops, flawed combat system IMO

DAoC: Ugh, the PVE system sucks major ass, way too cumbersom.

Ive stuck with WoW, ive met many who have played since beta (with a goal to get all classes at level 60) im having fun with a large guild, ive stuck with WoW longer than any other game ive ever played, its just simple and easy to get in to. yes, it does take awhile to level, and some might not like that it doesnt have alot of depth, but its a good game overall. Hit level 60, then set yoru goal to getting an Epic armor set, a task which can take months to accomplish.

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

Just quit!  2.5 million other people like the game, too many servers are overpopulated.  If you hate the game from the very beginning then just leave.

Well, he came from SWG, not from GuildWars. I did see no association in his post with GuildWars, get over this paranoia

Edit: And thread starter, I'm pretty sure the game is not lame, but I'm damn sure you're a lamer

i just got level 60 two days ago. and... apart from endless grinding in instances, there is NOTHING else to do

either, live in instances. or grind out gold, resources and make items.

    ::::12:: why ???

i cancelled wow a week ago. due to player issues. this game is aimed at the 9-15 year olds.

I quit too, after about a month and a half you crack 60 and then the game just totally dries up. A complete lack of content. You could go play in battlegrounds.. but why pay money for that when Guild wars does it better and for free. You could reroll another character.. but who really wants to play the same content over and over and over?

Fairly dissapointed with Blizzard on this game.

Yep I agree the game lacks content. I play it every day though due to the social setting in my guild.

I disapprove of posting messages like "hey my game is superior to yours" in the forums of the game you left and come to critize. I mean, you could just leave your comment and explained the reasons why you left. Why did you need to mention GuildWars? I want you to know this kind of posts will certainly bring invasions to both forums. Nobody has a right to blame you if you make a constructive critism and reasonable comments on the games. Give it a try at least, I don't think you will get negative feedbacks

  • IF you dropped SWG and came to this, you'll find nothing different except PvP... where you cant "hide" your faction affiliation. If you're an Orc, you're a horde grunt, if you're a human, you're an alliance pawn. You're not going to avoid the "click-and-wait" battle system that seems to plague every MMO on the market.... it works quite well for when I need to use the restroom or cook dinner in the middle of a "heated" battle. image

Find a guild with a TeamSpeak or Ventrillo server.

Game content changes throughout the levels.

Goto a PvP server if you  aren't already on one.

    Try different classes.

Graphics are Warcraft graphics.. this shouldn't have surprised anyone.

WoW is overly easy for the first 10-15 levels, at least its that way for me.  I mean if you die pre-20 its because you tried to die.

But yes, it does get better, a lot better, but you pretty much have to play on a PvP server.  PvE is uber boring.  Just like all the Warcraft games, playing the computer only offers so much of a challenge, the real challenge comes when you play against other players.

WoW doesn't improve. Took a rogue, warrior, and mage into the 50s. Boring. The same drudge over and over again. You hit areas where the Devs didn't finish the map (I love the Night Elf-architecture in the middle of Darkshire (very gothic area south of Elwynn Forest) and it has a cool-looking portal -- oh, yeah, like the walled-off area up near the Undead City, it doesn't do anything. Just a reminder that they didn't finish the map when they released the game. It's so mindlessly easy to level, you just lock into the same quests-per-character, repeat, rinse, wash. Nothing changes. It's the most static world I've ever seen. They don't even throw in weather, which would at least let us pretend something was actually changing in the world. And they claim the great "Easter Egg" flop as their "world event", which, after Asheron's Call did great things with world-CHANGING events, is just an insult to every player and their own intelligences. Santa Claus? A brilliant world event, where they put ol' Santa (interesting question: I didn't know Christianity or the culture behind Santa Claus existed in the lore of the World of Warcraft?!) right smack dab in the Ironforge AH/Bank area -- like they huddled together and said, hey, we don't have enough lag in Ironforge, where can we put Santa so we can increase it!! With brilliant devs like that, I don't have much hope for the future of WoW. I love the gameplay, but as an RPG, it's a dud; as a "living, breathing world", it's a dud; as a place filled to the rafters with "L33t"-speak... if you like that, more power to you. An "honor"
system that has no honor in it. Just... anyway. I left WoW and gave EQ2 and DAOC a second shot. EQ2 has actually improved tremendously from a solo-playing or small-group-playing perspective, I'm actually having fun (and I left EQ2 originally in less than two weeks because it wasn't fun). DAOC has also improved, but it's a bit cumbersome. And yeah, if you're after PvP, try out DAOC's RvR (Realm versus Realm) for some honest-to-God mass-combat Player-versus-Player. Hands down better than WoW's pathetic effort.

For me the good fun was 30-59.I ran around a lot did quests etc.

Hitting 60 was exciting because i could do the high end game and pvp.Alas, after rinse/wash the very few high end instances and took on the very few uber mobs in the game i was terribly dissapointed.

The pvp is also severely lacking.

Maybe by time you hit 60 in a few months they would have added new stuff but at the rate blizzard updates the game i highly doubt it.

Worth a try if u got like 3 months u wanna have good fun but it has zero staying power IMHO.

Far as i can see the game is gettin better and better as it goes its still a baby in the mmorpg market. But its gettin better as we go unfortunatly only people who will notice it are the loyal wow players who are hanging in.personally though im just in the game till lotr online hits the shelves.

lol..... Played for a few hours and bored? Did you do any quests? Game speeds up past level 16 in terms of what you can do...

Instances/Dungeons start past 16, you cabn get groups and explore. At 21 you can PvP in the battlegrounds or anywhere on teh globe.

And theres a lot of dungeons throughout all levels.

SWG can't be compared to this game. WoW is graeter than all MMO's.  Play it far into the game and see for yourself. A few hours fo any MMO isn't enough to tell if the game is good. SWG you kill mobs and its boring too. Your point isn't made, maybe just a flame? Who knows?

How do you figure your gonna turn that back into Walmart?

No store takes back opened game packs because of the activation codes involved. Those games you can only exchange. You show me a Walmart that takes back an opened PC Game.  Hehe

So Wow is repetitive and a boring grind...?

    SWG is not..?

Yep that shows how making your mind up in a few hours give a good and solid judgement of things. You had decided before you even played and probably even decided to make this post before you even bought the game
