I tried, but I just couldn't get into it.  It's obvious that a lot of work went into the game, but it's just too shallow for me. I don't necessarily NEED endgame, but I need to know that it's there, and I need to have fun getting there. Sadly, getting there is pretty simple, from what I'm hearing, and I'm not enjoying it enough to feel that it's worth even that small time investment.

The game has been pretty fun so far for me. The only big problem I have has so far is the world server crashing and causing me to lose 2+ hours of game play... Kinda bums me out to know I have to go do everything I just did all over again..

Yeah, but that's mostly due to the fact that they won't let go of their TV division, even though it loses most of that billion dollars for them.

When are the kiddies w/o debit cards going to figure out that you get what you pay for? And in the case of free to play that isn't going to be much.

SOE dropped the ball on this from the start.

"Well if you would use a controller...." was the standard answer from the devs all the way back in Beta when people like me would ask questions about why the combat sytem they're using was in place, and what they were thinking in designing the PC interface that way. With all due respect, some of us don't want to play with a controller. Personally, I'd be a PS3 or XBox owner if I did. I own neither. The servers are segregated for PC and PS3. So should the control setup.

To be quite honest, it's why I (and likely others) wouldn't pay for this game when it went Live. I'll happily spend occasional time as a F2P player there. I just won't pay to support a system I don't like. From what I can tell, it chased away a lot of people who wanted to make this the biggest success on the planet as a P2P game. And the target audience of console gamers didn't want a monthly fee.

Like I said though, I'll gladly spend time in DCUO again for no cost. Love the stories. Love the artwork. Making it yet another gear-based game was a bit of a  turn-off but I could live with it.  The controls were the dealbreaker for me for P2P.

I'm very happy that some people like it. I'm willing to bet the decision to go with a console-based setup cost SOE a signifcant number of players who would have left other games for DCUO while it was still P2P though. It was a gamble that just didn't pay off.

They chose to merge servers early on to keep server population up. Now their single server setup can't handle the load. It's quite sad really.

This was a franchise that had so much potential for what could have been done in a true superhero MMORPG. Instead we got a watered down multi-player console button masher.
