Who knows? All I've seen is pure speculation from web posters. I'm not planning to put any stock in the rumor until I hear it from a more official source, like Wolfpack.
HAHAHAHAHAH He has his Resume on there.....Why not just put the SB tombstone on your site too!

I wouldn't say it's just a rumor. Maybe I'm saying too much here, but, one night while playing on test I ran into BenWP (Head Dev). Anyways, we started talking, blah blah, then I mentioned SB2. He tried to bounce around the subject but I eventually got him to admit that they were in the Brainstorming stage. So, don't expect to see SB2 anytime soon but do expect to see it.
If your looking for answers ashentemper.com is the best place to get them. According to him there not releasing any info about it untill they get it going a bit. You know cause SB came out with lag and bugs.
Of course they're going to say that. ^.^ I had to practically beat ben with a stick to get him to give me anything. However I do agree with them to keep it quiet for a while since SB came out buggy, they want the sequel to be damn near perfect for realease so they only have to add and expand, instead of clean code and listen to pissed off players.
If they do start work on it, look for it in 2007 at this point. The biggest challenge is finding money for it I would think.
With games like Age of Conan coming out in late 2006, the market might be tight and bare in mind the games that don't compete with ShadowBanes style but will compete for the player base, games like Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons and so on will be taking volumes of interested players.
I guess the long and short of it is this, if you had SB2 in a solid planned stage, money and an aggressive marketing and appeal machine ready to go, you could move on it.
The alternative is a quiet tinkering with the idea to get something slowly put together and then hope it gets noticed by more than the originals fanbase.
WP Studios, the creators of Shadowbane, are definately working on another "secret" project. I seriously doubt that it will have the name of Shadowbane attached to it, however the pvp-centric heart of the game will most likely remain. The name Shadowbane is, in many people's minds, associated with a laggy, bug ridden product, despite the fact that the game is in tremendously better shape than it was at release. From what I've been able to piece together, the next game release will probably be well coded, relatively bug free, and in a low-lag environment.
So, look for something from WP going into alpha testing next year (I'm making an educated guess on that bit). With Ashen at the helm, and knowing how pvp oriented he is, I'm confident that it will be a game that I play for years.

That sounds great but until then Ubi should focus some time and energy on fixing some of the problems "Shadowbane" has now.. Give the people want they want and come out with an expansion that finally allows u to customize your character movement and tune the graphics up some.. That alone would attract people when they visit their local EB Games store and look at SB's newest expansion and reading what it entails..
Attract ne and old players alike to your current game with a new and improved expansion, give us what we want,at least somewhat, and you'll attract more players..Do all this before announcing your next MMO game..This way you have more people playing and enjoying SB.Then announce SB 2 to the public.. This would attract even more people to play SB which could build up their fan and playerbase considerably..

Shadowbane had it tough - in a world where developers feel pressured to nerf games down to the expectations of players, a pvp-centric game is going to suffer in subscriber numbers.
That's why UO introduced Trammel and ruined a great game - people moan, companies bow to pressure, games get ruined.
It'll be a brave game that introduces perma-death and full pvp, and says 'like it or lump it' to the subscriber base.
Considering Wolfpack's last day of working on Shadowbane is May 15, SB2 is looking like a no go. Ubi would have to sell the rights, or like the other guy mentioned, Wolfpack would have to make a similar game without the Shadowbane name.
UBI, owners of Wolfpack Studios, is dissolving WP and focusing their interests on the console market. There was a mystery project that WP was working on, commonly believed to be SB2 (with the Unreal 3 engine, or 2.5, or whatever). This secret project, as well as Shadowbane, are most likely going to be non-existant as of May 15th, the day that WP is officially dissolved.
A true shame, as WP has a grasp on open pvp like no other. I truly feel that they learned alot from SB and it's marketing (as well as it's too early release) and could have produced a genre dominating product through use of this learned information and a quality graphics engine. Sadly, we'll never know now, unless somehow a miracle occurs and the current staff of WP band together and get some funding to buy SB/SB2 rights from UBI, then produce it as a new studio.
yeah i have heard this also. I would hope this would happen. My friends and i were thinking that if they dont shut down the game all the servers will be wiped and theyll make a new one so everyone has a fresh start. Who knows though.
SB was the game that got me into MMORPGames in the first place... I would love to see another PvP game like Shadowbane emerge. It's too bad that they're dissolving.

One nice thing is that SB is free now. I've been playing for the past couple of days, and it's still great fun! Even more so now that it doesn't cost me anything!

Where do you get that info, Vagner?

It needs a lot more than a facelift, and an endgine change is essentially a new game...
There needs to be quests and crafting, and more class balancing
