What's the one thing that you're looking forward to the most about DnL?

I think the title pretty much sums it up.  I, for one, am particularly interested in the player based economy and running my own empire (or small village, which ever comes first image) and making some serious amounts of cash.  Post what you're looking forward to below!

A World that is as close to a simulation that has ever been done, the view distance, the politics, the physics, the huge battles, the migrating herds, the gardening, the exploration, the weather, the stars, the massive World, the one World for all, the flying, the sleding, the GM quests, the KvK dynamic, the father of D&D writting quests, the sence of humour from the Devs and writters, the music, the off centre characters and beasts, the style, the mountains, the sea, the trade wagons, the armour, the muted colours, the faeries, and the quirkyness image

    All Hail! imageimageimage  lol

LOL, well put, blacksac.  Well put, indeed.  I really hope to introduce this game to some of my friends and see how fast they're anticipating the arrival.

One only server. You can be truly special.

Since Blacksac put it so well, I can only add: One game to rule them all. image

Wish caught my eye, and I was lucky enough to be one of the beta testers, before the game was cancelled.
I loved the single server, massive, seamless world.
I loved the Live Content. Once a quest is done, it's done. None of this nonsense where 10,000 players have all done the same quest, and got the same rewards.

I'm hoping Dark and Light will be that good.

Obviously, we also have the massive scale PvP, which Wish didn't have. I'm not a big fan of PvP just for the sake of it, but in the case of DnL, it has a purpose, it has a meaning and also, it look like a lot more fun than just plain old ganking/getting ganked and PKing.

I can't wait to take part in large-scale battles, sieges and such.

You know what... I love pretty much everything about this game. The only thing I would change is the level system. I am much more into a skill-based system like UO, and Wish.
But this is really a minor gripe.

I can't wait for this game. My brain trembles with excitement, and I am having trouble keeping the saliva in my mouth ::::08::

    One thing

The community. Yea im a role-player old school daoc role-player. So im all about the community and building a better community. Politics and large player communities will put down the PKers im sure<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

heh for mmo's yes. But i started the RP thing back in 85 with pnp basic D&D ( now that is old school RP)
  • BhazrakBhazrak Member Posts: 57

Hard to decide between the two, but I'd have to say either the exploration aspect or the crafting.

DAoC is nowhere near old school, even for graphical MMOs.

    oNWN (1991)
    M59 (1996)

(And the many MUDs/MUSHes/MOOs before them.)

Then the triumvirate of AC (99), EQ (99) , and UO (97).

DAoC is still one of the newer kids on the block.

I'm surprised that so many other people feel that this game has pretty much EVERYTHING they've wanted in a game.  That's how I felt when I first read DnL.  As long as the dev. team does a thurough job and doesn't rush it into retail, the wait will be worth it. image

    Roleplaying, absolutely.

I thought I already made this post.  I am looking forward to the eye candy and scenery.  What I am not looking forward to is the combat system that defeats the purpose of having cool battles.

Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open.
Don't forget, you can use the block function on trolls.

No open PvP, but with soloability and large scale siege and clan wars.

Im looking forward to almost everything about DnL.

But the skill system and comabt system (as mentioned already) is bad. It doesnt appeal to me, and it makes the character development feel static and unrealistic.

For me, the crafting would rule.. I could just sit in my little house and craft all day long.. the fact that you don't have to go pvp or level up in fighting skills just to craft makes it even more interesting.. I just hope that we can craft items that will show our names and give us the ability to add bonuses or extras to the items we craft.. That way, we could set ourselves apart from others and work on quality.. Im kinda wondering about the merchant system also, like if we can get a vendor to sell items we make while not in game.. Anyone know anything about that?

I am looking forward to the sheer size of the world, especially if it is all traversable by one means or another.  Many games have large playable areas but much of it can't be traveled over..

I can't wait to see how the crafting system will work.. I would also like to see more info on the classes.. image

Just about everything everyone else said plus 2, One...

Winning a War and getting slammed with ale, pvping in your city with your buddies in friendly duels, because you just didnt get enough of the enemy.

    Two...

Seeing what their expansions will bring, and I hope they have the same "concept" as guild wars, add just as much with an expansion that came with the original game. Like I honestly hope things like mystical engineering will be there like have animated golems that are permanent pets until destroyed. Think it will be fun,

This game will be off the radar of other games.

People think it's fun to pretend your a monster. Me I spend my life pretending I'm not. - Dexter Morgan

i was hoping to explore a few dungeons out  but apparently this game  wont be finished at launch and will have  0 dungeons  and its anyones guess when exactly we can hope to  have dungeons in the game

are we to pay for an unfinished game  even after pushing back the  launch date by a year they  wont have half the game finished at launch

very very disappointed in this game

Yeah... they have said all along no dungeons at release. I think its a very low priority since the World size is far greater than almost any other game.

One thing I can tell you, the Devs are toying with the concept of player created dungeons, since it is possible for players to "dig" in this game.

If this game is well stocked with players and does well, they will add, and add. But if it doesnt forget any improvement, the Devs cant afford to run this game if the players dont come, there is no large company supporting this project.. the Devs are taking most of the risk.

cant tell  how well stocked this game will get with players but this player is sold already

ive been waiting for a beta spot since 2003 and have been  among the unlucky people

but i am  cheerfull and  wait with anticipation the arrival of launch day  my sword will swing for the light side my honor ,courage, humility, sacrifice and valour will not wane untill the city gates hold once more

all hail NPC the bringer of a true epic that promises to unfold before your  eyes an array  excitement and realism that has been lost in the mmorpg world since the days of the original UOimageimageimage

dungeons have to  come  perhaps not at launch but  if the people come I know this  game promises to be top rung  bar none

Well if you were to ask those fanboy-types beta testing Irth ...they would probably answer: When DnL is dead and buried.

I  guess there have been some direct comparisons to both DnL and Irth and I am trying to figure out which one to go with. I just do not wish to spend time testing ...yeah, its true I am lazy.  I also am rather turned off by the holier than though attitudes they have but Dark&Light is being released months later. But they do seem over the top in trashing DnL and that makes me wonder about them a bit.

    (just checked some dates)
I guess I might be wrong about it coming out sooner ...looks like they missed it a few days ago, so it is up in the air as to when it will be out. Another plus is that more people seem to have faith (at least with votes) in DnL. It would seem that I shouldn't be so lazy and try to dig deeper, eh?
