Believe it or not, MMORPG.com's Paul Crilley and his Rift character, Caedryn, have finally made it to the Guardian capitol city of Sanctum. In today's Chronicles of One Telaran, Paul and Caedryn talk about what they've seen and done while there. Read on and then leave us a couple of comments!
Also, there are a lot of people around. A lot of quest-givers. It’s actually slightly overwhelming at first. So many people. Who to talk to first? I spend the first hour just wandering around being jealous of all the players who seem to be riding really cool steeds. Is that a leveling thing? How do I get one? It certainly seems to take a lot of effort our of everything. There was a stables nearby so I thought I’d mosey on over and see how much the rides were. The answer? Very, very, very expensive.

Looking forward to his first dungeon run, should be another funny episode. I like the writing style, with a tongue in cheek approach to it all. Nice to get away from the sometimes far too serious approach to it all.
Just wanted to let you know that it takes less than 10hrs of play to reach Sanctum. However I am of the Defiant so it took me even less than 10 hrs only 8 to reach Meridian. SO, with that being said. Good Luck and be careful I might sheep you when you are least expecting it.

Ahhh Sanctum, or as we like to call it: The city with the single building.
Heh .. it will be fun to watch those "Tinkerbelles" kick his butt! Nice read though. I remember when I first found Sanctum and it was a very cool place. But there are a lot of other great places all through out the world of Telara, so grats and look forward to more awsomeness.
Sanctum is really sub par when compared with the likes of Meridian, which is ginormous and has towers and mutliple buildings. It's no wonder the game is so imbalanced with the Defiant to Guardian ratio, seeing as how it's a choice of (literally) a island with one building, or a sprawling fortress city with robo-horse vendors in it.
I rolled Guardian too, but Sanctum wasn't "full of people" on any of my servers (I rolled up on about five or six to just speed run there and see what the economy was like via AH). In fact, it wasn't crowded at all, even on Wolfsbane (which - to me - seemed only middle of the road, Guardian population-wise inside Sanctum). My main server, it's like a ghost town. Sad, cuz I like the game and all, but I just wish there was something...more...impressive (and less book beating religious heretic seeming) about the Guardian side, so that people would want to roll it as a viable choice they'd enjoy, rather than just going Defiant. And that's coming from someone with a capped Defiant toon, also. Meh.
Not to mention, can get steamrolled too on my server by Defiant zergs, if you don't have your pvp flag turned off during invasions. It's about a 5-to-1 ratio. It's pretty Defiant heavy. (Un)Fun times.
Good article though, and I did get a chuckle out of it. I hope your experience with the game is different.
Sanctum as the name implies was the place Guardians had to retreat to when the main city Port Scion was over-run.
I do agree, it is a bity small.
Since invasions are based on population density in different areas, the size/shape of the capital cities isn't that important. Players are getting the hang of grouping in the areas where they want invasions to spawn.
Wish the Sanctum had more of an Epic City feel, rather than the skill-training, aution-hub it is. Just seems odd for 3 races to be cramped in that 1 building.
