  well, I have a level 36 pally and I've been using ret talents a lot. Make sure u get seal of command( I think thats what its called) and basic other things like improved armor. As for holy, I would only suggest getting those 5 points into the talent that lessens chance to be interrupted. Hope this helps in some way and good luck leveling .

  Since talents are free put them into where you are wanting to be the most effective. If you want to be more of a healer, put them in holy. If you want to be more of a tank, put them into Protection. If you want to be more of a damage dealer, focus on Retribution.

  As for abilities/skills - there's no real good reason not to buy all of them when you have the money to do so. You don't need to save up for a mount as a pally, so you don't have that 90 gold expense. On my paladin, I've found very few skills that I didn't end up using at some point. Skills are relatively cheap, so get all that you can!

  When people say they are a Protection Paladin or a Holy Priest - they are referring to the trees where they put most of their talent points - they don't avoid skills in the other trees, just talents. Most players buy all of the skills in all of the trees when they have the money to do so.

  If you plan to do alot of end game raids and PvP then you probably should focus on Holy and Retribution.  Alot of people like Blessing of Kings and the extra healing really helps.  Paladins aren't really effective as main tanks so I'd probably stay out of Protection.  However they do get a nice buff spell in there that people might like.

  Ret is awesome to put points in and as of now i have almost all of mine in it. Seal of Command is what you really need.

  This is the spec I'm using now. Initially I was protection spec which was pretty boring for me. Then I went holy/retribution 31/20 with holy shock that was nice but I felt consecration > holy shock especially for high-end pve and group pvp. I like my current build, and will probably hold off re-speccing until upcoming pally changes.

  Definitely put 11 points into holy for divine favor putting the rest into retribution is a pretty boiler plate build. Once you get to 60 you can re-spec for your playstyle. Protection tree has some nice talents but it's pretty boring, although I'm sure it's nice for dueling rogues
