U seem to get your facts wrong hard-core.  First graphical mmorpg was Meridian 59, nothing to do with lucas films.

I got better things to do than read anything about what you think mmorpg history was. I was there, I remember.  I was there in the beginning.  I remember.  Those who weren't there need a guide.  Those who were there don't need to be reminded of the past, they already know it.

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

you are wrong, watch the video it was a game called Habitat by Lucasflim, and before Meridian59 there was NWN by Stormfront Studios that was playable on Aol.

So in otherworks lucasfilm & Stormfront Studios where one of the founding fathers of the MMO industry.

M59 was the first 3D MMO.

Well, you can split hairs all day long. I beta tested and was addicted to (in my opinon) the first game that started it all. Meridian59

Then a couple of years later I sat at my computer and hit the "logon" key for a long time till finally I got through to EQ when that game was released.

Those were the days...   but those days are gone never to return. I am just glad I was there to experience them.  I still remeber standing in the store debating which to buy. The Commodor, or the Coleco computer.

Yeah I saw NWN was owned by Sormfront Studios then BW got the rights in the late 90's.

I agree those videos were a great insight on the birth on MMO's

Heh, I had forgotten about Quantum Link...

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

When I talk about a graphical MMORPG, I'm talking 3D.  If you look at the 1st whole video, it says the first graphical mmorpg was meridian 59.  I'm aware of AOL and neverwinternights, I played that when it was not costing an hourly rate....

I'm also aware of competition to neverwinternights, The shadow of yserbious, which I played a little on The imagination network.  Did the video mention this game?  Seems its lacking in information.....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shadow_of_Yserbius

Meridian 59 was the first to use a $10 flat rate every month, and thus started alot of the mmorpg trends that UO and EVERQUEST used for a long time.  Only recently have they went to a free to play model.

I never got into MUDS,internet was not easy to get where i live,it even took me a long time to get DSL/Cable because the lines needed to be upgraded.

I remember being on AOL and it was unplayable for gaming, anyone that tried gaming on AOL had pings around 10,000 so not sure how you people managed it.

So while you guys were mudding,i was just playing all the best single player games, which go back to around 1981.

My first real introduction to gaming was by a friend who worked in the industry, told me try out Castle Wolfenstein, that goes way back to the same 1980's.

Wizardry was my first RPG type game also way back in 1981.I remember having a nightmare to setup a pc to run a game, config the sound card/vid card setup memory batch files/boot discs ect ect.I owned the apple2 and a commodore 64 as well ,i even made my own hockey game back on the commodore 64.Geesh i even owned a TRS80 by radio shack lol.

Man i can't believe how many years ago that was ../sigh.

I sort of wish i was able to join in the fun of the MUD era,but i just didn't have internet then.
