I agree OP it might be an OK idea to just sit the beta out and wait. Also like others said maybe jump on and play a class you never thought about polaying. I did just that but now I think I want to play the class I thought I didn't ever want to play, lol.
Anyways I'm still glad that I got to play because I just built my computer on the Friday of the first day of beta weekend and was fun seeing how it held up. It ran great!
also for those who think this is the last build it isn't.
I was able to play over the weekend and personally, I think it's worth it to just hop on and explore a bit. Try a different class if you're worried about spoilers.
Try it before you buy it. Best advice I can give. Take a taste of a class or side your not likely planning on dedicating your time to and try it there if your wanting to avoid spoilers. You will get some (particularly if its the same side) but it should get you an idea of the story AND gameplay. Remember, gameplay is important, don't neglect it completely for story. Story can only do so much when your going to eventually run out of 'story' to go through.
I'm doing the same, totally forgetting about the beta and starting to play once they open up for the people who preordered.
There's no reason to play the beta-client, getting my character wiped, downloading 27GB etc, when it's only 30 days left before I can start playing the final release.
Yes of course, because there is no other reason to be involved in a beta besides your own benefit.
Why is it that people have such a hard time understanding what beta TESTING is?

Normally I'd agree with you. Beta is where we should be helping to make the best game possible. However..the way bioware is doing some of these betas..with the weekend only multiple invites with different client uploads each time. It becomes a pain..especially this close to launch. I also questioned whether to bother. I've contributed to 2 weekend betas and done my best to be a great bug reporter and suggestion submitter. Different waves of extended betas maybe 7-10 days per phase would have been less taxing. Thats the way i remember it working for most of the other mmo betas of which I've been involved. Anyway..I can see both sides and agree to aspects of both. I will still likely download the client again for this (hopefully) final beta.

I guess people must experience different things. I got my email wednesday. That was PLENTY of time to download the game before Friday (I just left my computer on when I went to work on Thursday, and it was done when I got home). There was a long queue friday not, so I Just tried logging in occasionally while doing other things at home (just to help them stress the servers). I got in later in the night and playeda bit. Sat/Sun I practically had 0 queues the whole time.
with a good connection, shouldnt take more than a day to dl the game, unless your with at&t with thier super slow package.. then it might take you 3 days. i dont see why people are complaining about downloading 20+ gigs? whats the big deal. you probably dl more stuff that that. IF YOU GOT AN INVITE, AND YOU PLAN ON PLAYING THE GAME ON RELEASE, YOU SHOULD BE HELPING THEM TEST THE SERVERS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! and reporting bugs you find also if they ask you too.
oh, ok thanks gaou, i apriciate that, i dont follow twitter
your welcome and i dont really follow it either except for TOR stuff since every once in while a good nugget of info will make it its way there

and the wife allredy baught me a glass case for the Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue

I completely agree, and after last weekend, I am now very glad I did pre-order the CE on day one. That beta event was VERY GOOD in my opinion. The gameplay was very fun for me (unlike WoW), the art style / animations / graphics looked SO much better than anything I have seen before (even in the HD videos), and the story was VERY well done. I played a class that I was not interested in and now I can't wait to see where the story leads me when the game goes live. I did find a few little bugs (saying minor bugs is an overstatement) and made sure to report them. The only thing about the game I found that I did not like was the animation for jumping (standing or running). It looked a little awkward to me, but that is just a personal opinion, not a graphical problem.
So my $150.00 (USD) is well spent.
At this point I will probably skip the next beta event if I can force myself to do so, but I am not all that confident I can do so. Maybe I will pick the same class again and this time choose all the opposite quest choices that I had made last weekend. Might be interesting to see where that leads me.

I don't really get the "frustrating" argument?
Yeah,,I do the same thing. Both times though there were some launcher issues for many people and the forum was ablaze with diffrent fixes because sometimes the first one didnt work. Just little stuff like that. No one was bled to death with straight-razors but the little pin-pricks one after another can be a bit "frustrating". Anyway...glad launch is oon. Can't wait.
I was glad to know that they really were trying to have a genuine "Stress Test" of their servers before launch. Now if a bunch of you opt out that might diminish the relevance some. But not to worry. I think BioWare can still project from the numbers they do have...
Still I find it hard to believe Early Access and Launch will be completely "flawless". Not that I will be disappointed in the least if they exceed my expectations. I just prefer to have a "prepared mind". And participation in beta does nothing to diminish that that "preparation". So I intend to participate.

I count 30 days from tomorrow (15th) assuming the early access is right. Don't know which day of the 5 I'll get in of course...
