What's your fondest memory of SWG?

My fondest memory definitely when I was trying to sell a house deed to people.

I was a pure crafter (architect) in SWG for 4 years (also a mayor) and I never get dull.  At the beginning while everyone was out of resource and everyone was trying to get one of the best houses.  I took an order by a guy who wants a Large Naboo House.  AT that time you will fail your crafting deed for house before they changed it and unfortunately after 1 week of gathering resources I failed my house crafting attempt.  I still remember that feeling was so bad but that guy was sooo nice to me he said is okay give me more time to re-make it.

Also other fond memory must be the time when I sit around the shuttle promoting my City.  The best is I started from 10 people to 100+ people all by myself to join my city in Dantooine.  Thats the best feeling I ever had!!!!

Damn I miss the game, and I wish some other games can have the housing system as similar as SWG !! I definitely will play it.

I was a Master Smuggler, one of the few on Eclipse. The best times I ever will seem really mundane. I knew a small scale Armor/Weaponsmith who had a place on Tatooine. He was trying to build his artisan crafting business and I'd slice for him, but I'd also get him loot, introduce him to contacts, sell his gear, give him tip-offs etc.

    And that's it.

I was his fixer, his cohort, his advisor, his business partner, his friend. All in a galaxy far, far away.

Like I say, a very mundane, simple experience. But it was a life.

I loved the lag crazy base raiding...  Now that was world pvp that was fun and did something.

I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

One of my best memories was going to the Endor Moon back in 2003 when I was a noob... seemed like I'd been transported back to 1983. It was magical. RIP SWG... for now.

Well for one... the Squill wall.... (Bria only though) we just did it better there...

Also I do not want to forget my beta brothers... "All hail the Shrub"  we never thought we would be put to see this day... but we can thank SOE, Smedly and LA some for making us think we needed the NGE instead of fixing the game in the first place...

But I think the pre-9 Jedi hiding when we had Permadeath in the system and staying alive... getting sooo ramped up when you logged in scared to death..

YES SCARED in real life to be careful and watch everything around you in the game..

I mean you would be so careful even getting near NPCs because if some of you recall we didnt know what gave us visibility as a Jedi in the pre 9 era... we were so freaked out... so worried... so cautious so concearned...

Sabers were made carefully..... it was HARD to be a JEDI,   so hard....  You had to live... you had to hide... you had to run... from ganks, cities... and if you made a mistake.. OH MAN>.. you payed for it.

All in all, the unlocking, leveling, friends... Bria server and all the BH's that made it fun to play the game before the Dark Times and Jerking Crack action play that tried to win the game over only to cause server shutdowns..

Damn the NGE and that playerbase that allowed it and paid for it so it could continue and cheers to the anti-NGEers , in the end KARMA won again guys...  we wont the battle but we lost the war sadly.

Here is some cool screen shots, as I have some FRAPS even from back in the day... I am glad I got to play the game from beta until the NGE... I got to see the last of a true sandbox game that did really make you excited to play...

I have alot of screen shots, here is just a few...

We used to do that on Eclipse to rebel nubs all the time.  Eclipse seemed to be the only server  I played on where Imps had a long string of dominance.

    How I miss Eclipse....

On Kauri?  Unquestionably Goldie's events.  Chritmas party, formal dance, fireworks at the Oasis...

Great stuff.  We had tons of player run events and parties.

Fondest memory:  Being one of the first on my server  to figure out that doc buffs and composite armor makes you a god against those without.  I remember running through bestine FULL of flagged imps and taking out a good 20 players or so before I got rolled by about 15 AT-ST's lol.  Good ole TKA/Doc.   Wasn't long after that everyone was running doc buffs and composite for pvp.

2nd fondest was switching over to Imp to be able to call out  AT-ST's to farm Krayts for months.  I to this day still have a bank full of krayt tissues.

becoming the most popular weaponsmith despite not been an early starter in craft.I had people selling me their rare harvest metals and combining to make the best weapons around.

I eventually had a mall and "employed" 5-7 other crafters and dedicated slicers. It was actually fun rising in the world and talking to clients and suppliers .

I cannot for the life remember what it was ,think it was a crafter enhancement thingie u put in a slot that was super rare, in which i bidded and won the highest ever price ever paid on any server for a single item.

I also remember auctioning some top class kyrat tissue weapons for a fortune.

Also when i quit in early 2005 and came back 1  year or so later to take a look at the game ,people actually approached me to show me weapons with my name on it that were still in use.Made me pretty proud.

Thats whats so wrong with all MMO's today, no interaction with other players and community. I didnt craft, but i was one of those customers who relied on top crafters to produce armour, weapons, foods and much more. I played on Ahazi and one of the best crafters i used was called Wednesday, she was awesome.

There isnt a game out there with a real ecomomy like SWG had. In fact SWG was and still is the best game i ever played for hundreds of reasons, even though it was broken and bugged i still had alot of fun with other players!!

    Wake up MMO industry, please!

    My fondest SWG memory?

There are so many, but this one stands out above all others...to include unlocking my Jedi, and taming a rancor, and taming a frenzied graul.

It was 8 years ago, right after release.  I and a friend had just departed Anchorhead, on foot, and were heading to Wayfar.  He had not been out here yet...I was in beta, so I knew the way.  I took him by a spot in between the two towns.

I'm sure those of you who have played the game know where this is going...

We came upon the Lars family homestead, and he was totally blown away.

"Is this...what I think it is?"

    "Yup!"

He was delighted, of course.  We spent several minutes poking around, looking at things, and it was time to move on.  Along the way, I tamed my first dewback, who would become my favorite mount in a couple of months when the mounts were introduced...Dewey the Dewback :)

Then I took him to Jabba's Palace, and he was again absolutely thrilled.

Then we spent about an hour killing Tuskens to level up skills at the old Tusken camp just outside of Wayfar.

It was a great Saturday afternoon, let me tell you :)

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

    Once a denizen of Ahazi

Fondest memory?  It's difficult to say, so many memories (who would have thought back then that one would ever miss that annoying little noobie droid that could be difficult to delete)....

...some of my funnier memories of SWG involve the noobie things I did (I started nearly a year after the game launched): getting my first mission terminal quest as an entertainer and having no better sense than to walk all the way from Mos Eisley to Anchorhead because I was following the arrow and had no clue about the distance of things (this was my second MMO but the one I considered to be my first "traditional" MMO since my first MMO was TSO).  Also, while waiting to get something I needed to make my computer compatible with SWG, I looked through the information and started planning what I wanted to do in SWG.  Being on of those rare fans of ewoks, I decided I wanted to live on Endor (remember I WAS a noobie) so when I started playing the game I got to Endor as quickly as I could (had money for the trip to Endor but no money to get back), fortunately someone came along while I was stuck on Endor and gave me the credits I needed to get back to Naboo (not only enough credits for the trip but so many credits that for a newbie I felt rich...I think it was 10k)

....the memories of seeing some of the creatures in SWG for the first time, some of them were larger/taller than the buildings

....the memories of how populated some server cities were; how Anchorhead, which in NGE is dead, was once filled with people doing group missions and other activities

....the memories of CH, hoping for a baby animal to spawn, hoping that the tame would take and sometimes running to break aggro so a person could try again (I went back to SWG a month or so ago on a 12 day trial and there are no more baby animals wandering Tatoo, NGE killed them all)

....memories of people I met and guilds I was in during SWG

....memories of feeling like one lived in the Star Wars Galaxies, playing out one's own life whatever that might be, even if it wasn't as a major character in the story; and along with that, the memories of seeing the original movies in a whole new light (when Luke made the comment about the womprats, I now knew what womprats were, I'd seen them and I'd killed them)

....oh, and when someone is wanting people to give them stuff/money in other games I play these days I remember: "BN stands for Bothan Nation, not Begging Noob"  :P

Like most here I started at release.  Me and a group of probably 5 real life buddies just made toons and started playing (when the servers stabilized)...

There was a sense of adventure and uniqueness I haven't seen in any other MMO.  It TRULY felt like a sandbox, like we could go anywhere and do anything we wanted.  It was a lot of fun.  I venture to say the game was MORE fun before mounts and vehicles, the first 3 weeks or so when we had to run everywhere on foot because it forced us to explore and risk life and limb in the wild.

It wasn't long before I was a Dueler (pistoleer/swordsman hybrid) and able to handle myself against pretty much anyone but it was the first few weeks that were amazing for me.  I haven't felt that in any other MMO, total freedom in game.  I can't even play MMOs anymore because of the letdown I feel everytime I try one and realize it's just not unique.

My fondest memory is of our Guild events. I was in a very small but close knit guild called Red Sun on Kauri server. We would get together and kill Nightsisters. ( Before the NGE handicapped them.) Or myself and some guildies would go to the village and do some force quests.

Before the NGE I would log in and go to one of my houses ( I had 3 large on different planets.) and I would log in sometimes just to sit on the balcony of my house and watch the sun rise and set.

Honeslty, unlocking (pre-9) on Bria and living for a while.. again while on Bria which as you all know back then was the heaviest server load.

Beta and the Shrub from hell...

Running from a BH as a pre-9 Jedi with Perma death looming over your head and keystrokes

Hiding with friends so I would not die... lol

Grouping up and taming Rancors for pets... making Ranger camps... and just hanging.. waiting for KRAYT dragon spawns... good times...

Here is a screen shot of me running for my freaking life.. after being silly..

My fondest memories are of sleepless nights spent with my little brother gathering mats, crafting, and just plain exploring on our shiny new Pentium 4 computers.  There always seemed like there was something special around every corner and there were plenty of "impossible"  to defeat enemies hanging around every turn durring those times too.   We would get our rears kicked, limp back into town to get our wounds healed in a med center and cantina or spend hours with our toons half naked trying to grab the stuff off of our corpses that were still being camped by the damn mob that did us in!!!  I mean we had bone armor to retrieve and that stuff wasn't exactly standard issue durring those early days!

My little Bro died 2 years ago this May and I resubbed both of our accounts so we can ride out the end of SWG the same way we rode in on launch day.  I'll keep our characters live till they shut the servers down.

I played K'ai on intrepid, I sold you your Neutron Pixie

My little bro was Xzavian on intrepid, He was the First Mayor of Sojourn on Dantooine and a well respected architect.

There is only us, there is only this.
Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.
No other road, no other way.
    No day but today.

There are really too many to list but a couple of my favs:

    1) Surveying and dropping havesters...remember the day i got one of the biggest ones for the first time.  It was given to me by another player just because he had an extra one.  He wasn't worried about money.  He was able to help so he sure.

    2) I loved that there was a real hero class and that it wasn't EASY to get to.  I never wanted to be a JEDI.  I was just excited that there were jedis around.  My buddy was a BH and I liked being able to help him collect bounties.

    3) The day i built my first house...It was in the middle of no where but it had a great view and I remember having a perma smile every time I logged in.  It was stupid...but so much fun.

    4) I remember not even caring that there were imbalances in the game.  It didnt restrict what I did...it was just who my charicter was.

I really hope that a game comes out with 3 of the elements that made SWG (original) Great:

    1) A real Hero class that is almost impossible to achive

    2) A mats/crafting system as in depth as SWG

    3) A totally non-liniar system like SWG where you can do anything and place buildings anywhere on planets so large you cant possibly explore them all.

My fondest memory was when Sony gave us back our money for Mustafar because they had been deceitful and unethical in there presale of it.

Really they should have just canceled SWG and released the NGE as SWG2 much of the hate may have been lost and the game may have done better.

    One of my favorite memories...

Just outside Mos Eisley, ...on occasion, some High level "RED STAR" squill would spawn...maybe 1500-2500 meters out.   With CAREFUL and delicate effort, a player could drag one into the city and then run into the cantina...

Soon as I entered the cantina, the squill would drop me and target and lock the nearest noob....a GREAT killing spree on the part of the creature would ensue...leaving corpses EVERYWHERE!   after about ten minutes of killing, enough people would finally rise up to put the beast down.....I have hundreds more of those kinds of fond memories.

    another...

Going to a mission spawn that was higher than my ability, but the npc would do an AOE that hit another nearby creature spawn, causing both "nests" to engage in massive bloody conflict...leaving all kinds of enjoyment as I picked off the weak ones to complete my high paying mission.

    another...

spending the time needed to get a good dr. buff...then running to get the dancer and musician buffs from the ONLY player you could get full ones from on the server....anyone from BRIA knows who i'm talking about.  Then running off to dath to grind rancor missions in a solo group.

BRIA.   The ONLY server that mattered.
