I heard somewhere that there was going to be another Star Wars rpg. I know that there have been expansions to Star Wars Galaxies, but I was wondering if there was going to be a sequal. Thanks

Interesting opinion. Considering that most servers are at heavy and extremely heavy loads at the moment, that guilds and cities being overrun with new members and that Mos Eisley is full with dozens of new players any time of the day .... why do you think SWG is not doing so well ?
Have fun

Only reason its still around is the Star Wars tag on it.
Other then that the game sucks hard.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."
Well, not a very bright idea - SWG got alot of customers. But it has failed in a lot of ways - and has lost tons of veteran players since the CU, and even prior to that.
But yeah... WHy not a new SW mmorpg. This time, I hope they focus on:
* More interesting quests and dungeons
* A better way to get the Jedi status
* Less focus on "uber" graphics, and a more thought-through design which gives less lag
* A funnier game!

Look, the server population terms were changed overnight. Do you remember seeing extremely heavy or heavy loads before. Heavy maybe a handful of times back in the good old days. SOE has fooled you again. Its to trick the newbs into thinking that there are a lot of people on at all times.

I played star wars when it first came out, but got bored and went to world of warcraft.
I joined a guild that was old players from star wars, weird hugh. Anyways a couple
of players left wow to go back to star wars. I get bored of games and go back
and forward, but im tired of wow because i have level 60 players (max), and nothing
to do but play the new tag game. I dont know if star wars will have a sequal,
but I would like to see a new game come out, or more development in this
area. I like a total change in my gaming when im bored. going to space is
nice, then robots, ect.

I agree
Oh, ofcourse and you know this because you have been in lately and seen the empty cities.
*GASP* oh wait! Your banned so you CAN'T KNOW!

Sure seems empty to me and yes I do have a open account.

I hope they will make a new Star Wars mmorpg, ive played SWG for bout a year and then moved on to WoW, ive been back this last month on SWG. Combat Upgrade is ok for most part, but the game is still lacks the stuff wich made me stop playing it ½ a year ago.
The only way i see the game becoming what i hoped it would be is to start over again with another company instead of SOE(they try but just cant seem to get it right).
And no jedis this time unless the timetable is set several years back.
Just my 2 cents

Gee Fadeus , As the past two posters noted , One does not have to play the game to know what is going on. In fact , quite to the contrary . A lot of good you trolling has done Keep up the good work.

I usaully don't buy in to the whole conspiracy theory(atleast not anymore). It does seem odd though that two weeks after I last checked(right before my account closed) the servers went from all being light to suddenlly being heavy and extremely heavy. I mean if they really had that many new accounts and reactivated accounts in a two week period I think we would have heard alot about it from SOE.

Um, I started playing SWG 3 months after release and play it now. I constantly make new toons on different servers and low and behold, SWG is just about as populated now as it was long ago. No, I have no scientific data to support this, just based on populations in the grouping cities and out of the way areas. The thing is, people who used to play go out to their old stomping grounds and find them empty, what they don't realize is that the populations have shifted.
There used to be only a few places that were heavily populated. Now, newbs are spread out solo or grouping in Mos Eisly. Mid levels are hanging out on Dantooine or Lok grouping. 80's that are not FS/jedi grinding are all over the place to include many in space and rotw or possibly pvping. There are literally tons of people in space who you generally cannot see and don't really notice.
Doomsayers are misguided in thinking that their misgivings about the CU resulted in *everyone* quiting. SWG still has a robust community albiet not as significant as some other games out there and the game is still fun to play. But you cannot come into SWG from playing a year or so ago and expect to play the same game. It has changed and you have to adapt or else you will not like what you are playing.
I created a new character and joined a city, went to their mall and the few vendors that were there were empty. Asked why it was so dead and the mayor told me because alot of people in the city including many of the crafters had quit the game when the CU came out.

i logged on to the eclipse server and started lagging because there were a ton of people playing the game. there was an abundance of vendors and i went to dantooine and got a hunting group right away. what servers are YOU people playing on??
maybe you should move to one of the more populated servers. or maybe you're just trying to dog swg because you don't like it. i'm placing my credits on the latter

you know, I LOVE star wars and i reactivated my account this passed may with the release of Star Wars : Rage of the Wookiees, and the new combat revamp... just today, i cancelled my station access account which included swg because the game has become boring ,, once again .. JTL is cool but it will only keep you satisfied for a couple weeks and the same for RotW(Rage of hte Wookiees). I started playing th game with the new combat system , i totally remade my character and i loved the combat system but hten i realized.. this isnt the unique star wars that i used to know. this combat revamp made this game just like any other mmorpg out there. you reach the max level in about a week or less if you konw what you are doing. with the combat revamp this game the older players a chnace to "respec" and they could choose any class they wanted to be by giving up a current class they have.. and i have found that, the hardest(combat) class to master, bounty hunter was taken by nearly ever single player in the game and i found this utterly ridiculous because i spent hours upon hours grining out investigation experience, which takes about 10 minutes per missions if you know what they heck your doing and you are doing it very fast, after each mission you get about 500-600 investigation xp if its a high level mission! you need about 50k xp to master bh. its not a big deal that everyone was a bounty hunter but every one basically thought they were teh best of the best because the clicked a couple buttons and respeced to master bounty hunter because they wanted teh offensive abilities. ME , I wanted to hunt down jedi/npc's and have fun with it and i got criticized by some people because im "just another bounty hunter"
In the game now, if you choose to become an artisan you cant go out and fight any more because your combat level will be too low and you will get your butt kicked. If you choose to become an artisan i sure hope you like crafting for a living because you certainly wont be doing any killing.
By all means I am not disrespecting the game at all but come on , I cant believe that you can screw up a game so bad , the STORY IS PERFECT... IT IS STAR WARS.. how do you screw it up so bad? The game is not "unique" to me any more , its just another mmorpg. You HAVE to have groups in order to get the best xp possible you cant go out and solo any more if you are certain classes.. i wish they had left the combat system alone
When I reactivated my account there was only one medium populated server , and the rest were lightly populated.... now almost all of them or very heavy to heavy loaded... It is a good game , but definately not for me, I don tget the feeling that i accomplished anything when i get the max level in a week, if i wanted that i would go play a free game like neverwinter nights or diablo II. I dont know about you guys but feel like after a couple months i have done all there is to do in the game and i am very disappointed in it. look to see the server populations to go down in a month or so.... but i do hope star wars survives though and becomes a much better game.
=---BTW---= The combat revamp has made the economy of swg go nuts! prices are out the roof because so many artisans respec'd to a combat class because they got screwed over, i hope they do come out with a way to help out artisans
Article on the future of LucasArts, handy link supplied by Bluesnews.
"Two million subscribers is what we ought to be doing too," comments Ward. "All I can say is that we need to keep pace. What Blizzard has done so well is to make the 'World Of Warcraft' so accessible to a lot of people who just jump right in and play. They've done a great job. Bravo! And that's helped the overall MMOG space, if you will. Now our goal is to leapfrog them and do some new and exciting things ourselves." -Jim Ward, LucasArts big-wig
I just thought the above quote (and the rest of the article) was rather interesting.
LucasArts has been dissapointed with the reception (for lack of a better word) of SWG and actualy intends to do what it takes to get it where it needs to be. It seems like John Smedly was similarly dissapointed, but I cant think of where I read him talking about it.
I sort of doubt that they intend to scrap SWG and start over. I wouldnt be suprised though if they started mimicing WOW.
SWG is a flop.
Anyone that believes it is alive and well just isn't paying attention to the ex-customers. I think it will take a major effort to revitalize it. It is boring. *yawn*
