I ran it on an i3 with an ATI HD5450(512mb), 4 gigs of ram. Some setting turned down, mostly due to (i thnk) the large amount of players in the same areas.

I can comment that I have no idea why people buy laptops as their primary piece of hardware for games.

It's more costly, less powerful. Do you travel all year round or something?

I travel 3 weeks out of the month and looking at a laptop with similar specs, kind of intereted if this laptop can do the job.

Some people can't afford both a laptop and a gaming pc buddy. Therefore they just have to settle for a laptop. And honestly today's laptops can play most games easily.

At OP: I think you will be fine with these specs.

I ran it on a desktop with an intel Core2Quad Q8400, 4 gigs of DDR3, and a GTX260 on absolute max.

I'm sure that laptop will handle it fine.

I would have to disagree with you on the performance and cost. The performance of alot of gaming laptops are compareable to desktop which also give you the capability of getting it with dual video cards and up to 16 Gbs of ram. the cost of gaming laptops can range from 1200 - 4000. The same can go for most great gaming desktop. I am looking at the Asus G74sx as my next laptop for gaming and it can perform just as good as most gaming desktops.

As for Swtor you should be able to run it i ran it on my laptop which was Core 2 Duo, 4Gb Ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. I ran it with no problems. Just lowered my graphic settings.

yea the Geforce GT 540M will be able to play SWTOR at max details.  I have a ATI 5650 in my lenovo ideapad Y460, heres some videos of it playing games, http://www.youtube.com/notebookplayer.  The card is slower the the 540m, you will be able to play everything up till now and a few years down the road comfortably on medium-to low settings for some of the more demanding games.

Iv actually been wanting to get a new laptop with that exact card in it, and im a huge gamer.
