Morning. FAQ about #SWTOR client - do you need to reinstall for upcoming weekend if you were playing past weekend. Answer is no.

FAQ: That client, when you have it, should be able to be patched to the #SWTOR live client (ie, no re-download). No guarantees tho'.

This does not mean all of us who have been invited(that email last week) but who haven't gotten codes yet?

Reminder: you do not need to get a Beta Testing Code if you were already signed up to test before November 11.

Everyone who signed up for #SWTOR testing (yes - everyone), including those redeeming keys from our partners, will get invited next week.

Right. I grabbed a code even though I was in the last test. The way my e mail was worded did not say i ll get all access to all upcoming tests. I figured I ll grab one and if this is the last time testing, oh well, it s out soon anyways.

Not because i grew attached to my characters, i did but thats besides the point, it's so i can get further into the game and see more stuff, like the crafting, PvP, stuff you don't see in the earlier levels.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

As much as I would like to play through my sith warrior. I m going trooper this time, I want to see the other side to decide which side to go with at release. I also don t want to see too much.

  • whilanwhilan Member UncommonPosts: 3,472

Well at least the option is there if you want to continue, but i completely understand you not wanting to see too much. Thankfully for me i'm the type where i can trick myself into thinking i'm hearing the story for the first time even if i've seen/heard it before.

Just so people know, that character retainment for the next phase. That does not pass over into the early game access. You'll be starting completely new when that begins on the 15th of december.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Well that and my wife got in too, obviously with the million codes out there. We want to play it together, so I figured I would start over, instead of sitting there waiting for her to catch up.

Actually, nvm on that post, i read that as one hour more, not one hour ago. Yeah i'm newbie to twitter and all that :P

Woot! I took Black Friday off because I have to drive through or around Mall traffic to get to work. Will be nice to have something to do all day. :-)

    ** edit **
Also, I only have a couple classes that I want to play, so there are plenty of classes I can play that won't interfere with having something new to play at launch.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Did you happen to read the text below the beta key give away? It states that you may break your access to beta if you try to apply one of those keys to an account that already has beta access. FYI

Darn, I will be in Mexico until Dec 3 :/.

No matter, I have seen enough. Maybe I will just stay in Mexico until the 14th.

    DAMN IT! image

I have to work all those days! My days off are wed and thur.... *sigh*

Anyway, I'll make the most out of it.

My only worry for this beta is actually the download process of the client.

With tens of tousands of players downloading it, how are they planning on making the download go smooth for everyone?

It went fairly smooth this past weekend. It took a long time, but no hiccups on my end at least. I know though that there will be alot more people for the next test, so we will see.

By the way: If you already have the most recent beta client, you will not need to download it again for the next test.

Might actually give it a download seeing as the client may patch to live. Wasn't sure if i was going to bother up until i read that quote.

Whoa so my characters will still be there? I hope that remains true.  Trying as hard as possible not to play Republic since that's what the guild is rolling as come retail. Was able to level all 4 Sith classes pass 10. Hell might even redo my IA and go Sniper for AC this time, or keep working on my BH till I get Blizz.  So many options image

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Character will be wiped when the server goes live?

Nope, it will be boosted to max level, give all gear in the game, quests will auto complete and a message will pop up on screen in large letters "FATALITY!" before the servers shut down for good the following day.

Of course they'll be wiped fella image

Haha, I knew it would be the 25th!  What do I win for guessing correctly?  Lifetime subscription?  ;)

Also, as a 11/11 tester, I'm ecstatic that I'll only have to patch in the updates instead of reinstalling that monster client again.  And I'll be able to just continue on with my level 15 Bounty Hunter and experience some mid level stuff in game.  I'm pumped---I've been suffering withdrawal from this game since the weekend.

Hmm, Bioware just PM'd me a key on the Bioware Social Network (their forums for everything else) with a key even though i already got the auto 11th/11th invite, i assume they just sent a mass one out to everyone on there. They really are trying to make sure as many people are in this test as possible, starting to get the suspicion they'll be using it for hype. "The Old Republic tops 1,000,000 beta testers in one weekend" sorta thing.

Got an invite, but no download link yet, they expect me to DL 30 gigs in an hour??

You'll get the download link about 3-4 days before the beta.  So if they decide to do the Beta Weekend next Friday, expect the link to be available on Monday or Tuesday.
