Horizons said that they would consider allowing humanoids ride the player dragons...but that was a long time ago.

Maybe one day UO will let you ride the tamable dragons, but beyond these two games...that's about it.

And Anne needs to make more books, not enough to keep me occupied.  Behind Wies and Hickman, she is one of my favorite authors.

I agree.  On the original topic, I was looking for game focused around dragon riding.  I think there is  a big pool of intrest in this topic.

You can ride your very own flying pet dragon in Dark and Light. Plus there is a really really big dragon that carries a basket you can ride in as a sort of point to point transit.

Out of all the mmorpgs I have played, EQ has TONS of NPC dragons!

AO also has many NPC dragons. Players can also shapeshift into dragons. (Supposivly this is no longer allowed, but I have not been able to verify this LOL!)

Check the links in my sig to see my screenshots of dragons!

adventurers used to be able to morph into flying dragons, and the in game mechanics make it impossible to fly and fight at the same time, and the dragon morph was intended for combat, so now they stay on the ground. you can still morph into it, if you're a high level adventurer. In my oppinion it's better this way since adv's can morph into a little bird that can fly anyway (calia's form, not the reet) so the dragon was just for swooping through towns for fun and freaking newbies out.

Just thought i'd clear that up. AO also has a big npc dragon that takes a huge amount of players to kill each week (? i think) or so and get uber loot. Terra is the name, Yes, dragons exist in the future. *shrug* ::::35::

Well, you can't ride dragons in FFXI, but you certainly get to slay them; I've already done one myself. You get to ride small dragons early on in WoW as a transport method, and I think there's dragon slaying at the high end.

Even with that said, I can't believe that there is no game focused aroung hatching, growing, and riding dragons.  Some company should look into this, for I think there is quite a big market for it.

You cannot ride dragons in WoW. Those are hippogryphs and griffons. But in the high end of the game you can go on dragon slaying raids. They are not easy to find or kill, they're huge, dangerous things that require large groups to kill.

Just try it... I dare ya... Go ahaed...

You are now going from wanting to have dragons in a game, to having a game centered around dragons. This will not happen. The most well known RPG that was centered on dragons was:

      Dragon Riders of Pern

Which is based on one of the most famous fantasy book series ever written. (Also called "Dragon Riders of Pern".) There is zero chance of a DRP (or is it DRoP?image) mmorpg ever being made LOL!

First for a MMORPG to allow dragon riding, it must have atmospheric flight. Next, there has to be a reason to ride a dragon instead of teleporting, or other "better" transportation. AO comes/came closest to this. It has the best atmospheric flight out of every mmorpg. And it allowed players to fly as a dragon.

As for hatching a dragon, raising it, you are talking about having a pet Dragon. SWG could have this, and might actually have it. (Have any hardcore SWG player found a baby Krate Dragon and raised it? Or did the Genetist/Biotech Proffession and created their own Krayt Dragon in a test tube and raise it?) SWG does not have atmospheric flight, so IF it did have pet dragons, they would not be able to fly very high, or maybe not at all. SWG does allow players to "hatch" pets, and raise them from babies, to a full grown adult.

Ok, "most famous fantasy book written" "zero chance of an mmorpg."  Those don't seem to go together, especially with mmorpg players craze for fantasy.

It probably won't be made because the games never live up to how good the book was, and sometimes even disgrace the book.

*ahem* you snipped my quote too soon. I said "....one of the most famous fantasy book series ever written". Not the most famous fantasy book written. image

BTW, I was at the bookstore today and they had a display for a new fantasy book coming out soon centered around dragons. "Aragon" or something it is called. Intresting picture of a Dragon on the cover. imageThe author made 1 other book before it also centered on dragons.
