If you honestly like sandbox MMOs, the best way to counter the "awful publicity" is to post positive comments/publicity about the sandbox games you do like (or at least cautious optimism)
You could swap that comment for something like:
"If you honestly like sandbox MMOs, the best way to counter the "awful publicity" is to sell your kidney and donate the money to Henrick so that he can gamble it away on fail decisions that he likes to take (or at least sell one of your eyeball, you can still live on donning an eyepatch)"
Come on man, what is wrong with you?? You are doing No One a favour by hyping up crap, by now even someone like You must know that MO made by SV will never work, ever. Anyone burned by this game will be more than cautious in investing their time, emotions and, most importantly for any upcoming game, money on any new sandbox game that might just be worth it.
The sandbox genre has gotten a swift kick to the balls because of this game. Developers, investors and even players would think more than once on being part of any new indie sandbox MMO due to the bad air left behind by this turd.
You thoroughly misinterpret my meaning. A key phrase is " about the sandbox games you do like ". People are certainly entitled to express their own opinion on MO. I'm just saying that when someone makes 300+ negative comments about Mortal Online and has never made a positive comment about any other game, they really shouldn't complain about all the negative publicity MO has generated and the effect it has on other games. (e.g. if you want to counter the effect on MOs publicity on other games, you could always make positive comments about a those games)
Back on the main topic, this add appears to be for only 2 desks, 2 computers and some storage furniture. Do we know that SV is selling it's property? It could easily be an employee selling it and providing the office as a point of contact, since they don't want strangers coming to their house. Also, we know that the size of the development team has gone down. This could be surplus at this point. It certainly is not a good sign financially, but it also doesn't necessarily mean that Starvault is liquidating itself.
P.S. The choice to refer to MO as a sandbox game was made by the person I originally responded to. What constitutes a sandbox game and whether MO is one is too large a topic for this thread (without derailing it) and has been covered plenty in previous threads.
It's amazing to see the amount of people that want to burn this company to the ground lol!
I know , right? LOLZ-
I have never in all my years of gaming witnessed such hate- Hell, I have never bothered to speak negativly about any game/developer beyond the simple "game sucks" or "I dont really like this game"...
MO just has a way of bringing out the most in people... If you have been following along since Beta you would understand . All the hate directed at SV is well deserved, earned and justified. These clowns have burned so many people, done such shady things and CONSTANTLY BLAMED EVERYONE for anything wrong with this game. They have continued to hype and promie the world while delivering shit and putting the majority of their hyped "features" on hold.
This is a company which has failed to make stable combat when moere than 20 players are in the same area (read about the FAILED bug) but rather than fix this bug which has been there forever...we get... MORE complex systems added to the mix.
What PVP deathmatch guild game would add territory control when combat doesnt work?
And they keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over again...
Yes, there is alot of hate- But at this point its just mostly comedy. Everyone knows this game is limping along on its last leg, but its fun to watch the excuses and promise and hype keep on coming.
If they are going bankrupt, you think they'll just keep shutting the door over and over to keep the collectors out?
They tried that but there is a housing bug which makes doors/locks useless so the crediters just exploit like everyone else and they are right inside =D

First and foremost, why does the number of comments matter (300+?) when MO probably has more than 300 bugs, unfinished systems, exploits, shoddy GM interventions, Henrick's foot-in-mouth gaffes Among other things all put together? If we were to comment on every single boo boo SV has made then I assure you, we would all have a thousand number of post counts atleast.
Brings me to the second part of your post, why should anyone come here and comment on "sandbox games that they like"? This is the MO forum on mmorpg.com and commenting about other games that arent MO is pretty much trolling or baiting the fanboy brigade to jump in and bite with some kind of "go back to xxw" post. The fact that you are even asking other people to post about games they like in the MO gamespace is, utterly and without doubt, stupid.
if you want to counter the effect on MOs publicity on other games, you could always make positive comments about a those games
Again, why the hell should anyone comment bout other games over here?? Im trying hard but Im just not able to see any sense in what you are trying to suggest. Do you want MO players to go to EvE / UO / DF boards and talk bad bout those games to "counter the effect" or do you want those players to come here and talk bad bout MO to..."counter some other effect"?
Or do you just want MO fans to go to EvE boards and talk bout how stellar CCP's EvE TOS was that SV had to use it in their game word for word?

This sounds worse than AB liquidating its (meagre) assets. If an employee is selling furniture at firesale prices then it makes you wonder if said employee is in such dire straits financially. Makes you think right if this employee(s) is even getting paid anymore and if the SV workforce is now working on HOPE alone without getting paid.
So which one do you think is worse (and the real situation at hand), SV liquidiating or employees going unpaid that they are compelled to sell furniuire and electronics to make ends meet?
I'm just saying that when someone makes 300+ negative comments about Mortal Online and has never made a positive comment about any other game, they really shouldn't complain about all the negative publicity MO has generated and the effect it has on other games.
Lastly, I dont know nor do I care about which poster made which positive comment on which forum. When I come to the MO forums, I expect to read about MO related stuff and the history of what a poster has posted elsewhere is completely irrelevant on nearly every aspect. But by your statement I take it that you check every anti-SV person's post history and are suggesting that I do the same...? Im sorry, I will not stoop to such levels since I consider this very akin to Internet Stalking and it to be very, very creepy (using the mildest term possible).
P.S. Stick to the topic please. You advising on posting positives about other games here, checking a user's post history, beating the dead horse with the "MO is a sandbox, seriously" stick are all moot and such topics could derail this thread and get it locked. I personally want to read about whether this is true or a hoax, some words from anyone inside SV (BlackOpal if he still cares bout the grey areas or maybe even Rohn) would do good here, methinks.
1. Wanting to sell things that aren't being used and taking up space is bad and means you are in dire financial straits.
2. Checking other users forum post history is internet stalking. Knowing the history, personal lives, finanical situations etc. of anyone associated with making and running MO however, is not stalking.
3. Hoping that people lose their jobs is fun.
4. MO is dying, for real this time. No we really mean it, this time it will be the end, you'll see.
5. If selling furniture; make sure there's a lot of clutter on all the surrounding furniture objects. Otherwise it looks like your company doesn't own anything/is doing bad.
6. Most people have never heard of MO because it's so bad.
7. Paradoxically MO has scarred the sandbox genre for life despite most people never hearing about it.

I kind of figured they would milk it to Q2 next year, but I dunno.. having a firesale of your PCs and office furniture is a pretty bad sign. I mean, no one could seriously believe that they ordered new furniture or were buying brand new PCs...
It looks like they arent operating out of there at all.

I know you're being sarcastic, but just to spring off of this point:
By all means, Mortal Online should be growing. Over the past few quarterly reports, Star Vault's expectation to break even has decreased about 500 subscribers per quarter, from a combination of sales and cost cutting measures. 1500 required as of Q1, 500 required as of q2. By those measures, by the time Star Vault's Q3 profits come out (which should be any day now) the game should be in the green.

I am pretty sure at least the last one is true....
But I wouldn't be surprised if Star vault decided to move to a smaller place and sells of all the stuff they wont need for it.
If you think about it, they were a lot more people when they started, and there are plenty smaller offices and industrial places cheap in Malmö right now so moving to lower the rent is really not that strange for a company with financial issues.
If they really were broke and couldn't pay the rent all their stuff would be sold in an auction and the money go to the people they owe money. That doesn't seems to be the case, at least not right now.
Not that I plan on buying stocks in SV or anything, but I am sure other companies like SOE, FunCom and anyone else who have cut employees sold of some furniture as well, unless it was in so bad shape they had to throw it out just.
It's amazing to see the amount of people that want to burn this company to the ground lol!

I remember lookig forward to this game.
I remember preordering it.
I remember saying "Give em a chance it's still in beta."
I remember Henrick and Matts sitting in IRC talking about how "Ready for launch we be!"
And then I remember getting my fucking refund because they were never going to be ready for launch.
Funny, I'd almost give them that 75$ back just to pay them for the hilarious show they have put on. Almost.

Actually, I hate SOE more than MO. MO tried and failed; SOE destroys (IMNSHO).
Its about me
True, I hate and will never forgive SOE for destroying EverQuest while Verant had done such an amazing job.
