Are you able to get a different pet or is i just the same one for everyone?

You unlock them via your soul trees, so every class that chooses a pet soul has the same pet choices. Unfortunately, there isn't any "taming" in this game.
It would have been nice to have some customiztion....dyed pet armor or at least different pet models. Maybe in the future.
