What is Shadowbane? In conjunction with the exclusive free trial we offered yesterday we today bring you this article from Community Manager Sean "Ashen Temper" Dahlberg that introduces the game.
;) What is Shadowbane? A simple question, but not so simple to answer. Shadowbane is many things to many people. The game is officially classified as a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying game (MMORPG or MMO for short), but there are some who would classify it as a real-time strategy game. Which is it?
Well, both actually. Shadowbane uses many elements from strategy games such as city building, sieges, territory conquest, and tactical formations and weds them to a game system similar to other fantasy MMORPGs. Players level and adventure in Shadowbane as they do in other MMOs, but Shadowbane offers unique activities in the game world, adding reasons to continue play after the more conventional RPG has been mastered. |

I've Played shadowbane for the last three years. I have played WoW, Guild wars and beta tested Lineage I and II and Ryl. Shadowbane is by far the most fun out of all of these. Dont get me Wrong there were and still are alot of problems with the game ( lag at times, not enough advertisement from the get go). However, if you played it and learned the ropes The pvp could be epic at times and always thrilling. When people talk about things in game they do it as if they are the character their playing. The amount of competition in the game is crazy and people take extreme pride in thier fighting. When I play other games they all seem weak in comparison. Im hoping they fix the issues that hound the game and advertise alot more( dont change the control scheme and basics) and the second installment (If there is one) will have almost 100% of the old crowd and alot of new people to pk. Simply put Shadowbane is dated and the fans that have stuck it out so long deserve a sequel.
