I don't really plan to log in for the beta. But I was wondering how's the polish? DCUO's, FFXIV's UI were or are pretty bad. I have recently loged into DCUO and the UI is still terrible.
How does the game fit to controller? Since I started playing games with controller, it's not been as fun with keyboard. What about key mapping? Is it widely compatible?

The polish in terms of world, skills, animations, conversations, voice acting and so on is pretty top notch. The controls follow standard mmo/rpg type controls, pretty much the same as Dragon Age on the PC. A controller would be difficult simply due to the number of skills your character gets. Even at level 1 you have 2-3 skills already and this number just continues to grow, would be very hard to map the number of skills you need to use to a controller.

Is autorun there?

Hmmm
IF not is a deal breaker?
SWToR is pretty damn polished. RIFT was pretty good but had stability problems during the last 2 months of testing but I didn't have one crash or one un-planned server disconnect.
I DID, and many others, have an issue with the server selection process where you'd select a server with high population, decide to change your mind and cancel but be locked into that server's queue even if you restarted the game. There was a simple fix to reset your selection and most people who took 20 seconds on the forums to find a player-made fix got in. I suspect this will be changed before the next beta.
This game is, for all intensive purposes, ready for release.
I don't like the term "polish" at all and i wil ltell you why.
It is MUCH easier to polish a plain stick of wood than it is to polish a complete armoire made from many sticks of wood.I hope that analogy made it clear as to what i am trying to say?
Obviously nobody has seen all of SWTOR but MOST of what i have seen looks really amateurish. There is not much at all that any person sitting at home with minimal game design knowledge couldn't polish.Well sorry animations are one area that take some effrot and a simpleton wouldn't get it right, but aside from that obvious point, the game lacks professional feel throughout.
I don't even know if these guys have what it takes and i may never know, this could have simply been from day 1 a rush project made to cash in on a well known IP,who really knows?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
This gives no mention as to either the stage the beta was in when that video was made or the quality of the computer system he had because the graphics looked all turned off.
The person who Fraps that must have shitty system, that's just a terrible recording.
Sorry, my bad. I dont talk about the graphics. I have seen other videos and I know graphics are better.
The movement, the flight and turning with that "taxi" ship, the models, the UI, this is what I find clumsy and not well made.
thanks for the remark
The cut scenes looks pretty good, no argue there.
The Polish are fine as long as the Germans don't invade again.
""But Coyote, you could learn! You only prefer keyboard and mouse because that's all you've ever known!" You might say right before you hug a rainforest and walk in sandals to your drum circle where you're trying to raise group consciousness of ladybugs or whatever it is you dirty goddamn hippies do when you're not busy smoking pot and smelling bad."

One of my BIGGEST grips with MMO is how the game feels in movement, polish, SW:tor is pretty good with the movement and polish, as for keymapping you can map everything the way you like, yes thee is a autorun, the only bug I found with key mapping is binding your mouse wheels still zooms the camera in and out but im sure thats just a bug and they will fix that.
LOL!
This is what the description on the youtube page says:
"Please note that most beta footage is of old builds that no longer exist. Gameplay is the same, but some elements of abilities or game interface have changed."
Let me just tell you as a long time tester, that any builds older than the newest couple were loaded with crazy bugs. There were lots of things missing, broken, bugged, etc. Bioware has absolutely smashed bugs every single phase of the beta. They can seriously pump out a lot in a short amount of time.
Basically, there have been drastic improvements to this game in a short amount of time. Something even a month old shouldn't be considered when assessing the current state of the game. Actually, the game that we are all testing now and will be next weekend will probably be improved a lot by the time launch rolls around.
Edit: From watching these videos I am positive that they are at least 2 or 3 builds ago. Again, the game has changed a lot in that time.

Playing with a controller is COMPLETELY POSSIBLE, but you have to map it out of game, but there are a lot of "how to" guides in the beta for people who are looking to map the 360 controller.
The polish however... I only heard the English voice overs, I wasn't even aware they had polish voice overs, so can't comment much on that.
UI is not so great to be honest though, its not very moddable, but comepletely useable. Better than DCUO, but still a far cry from being good. WILL it get the job done? Yes.
I am not happy with it personally though.
