The good news for DC Universe Online continues to roll in. SOE President John Smedley recently tweeted some illuminating statistics on the game's growth since the switchover to free-to-play.

Read below for a quick rundown of the stats:

  • Concurrency is up over 1000% from pre-F2P.

  • Playerbase is growing at 6% per day.

  • 700% increase in daily revenue. (47% PC / 53% PS3).

  • Over 85% of logins are returning players.

  • Additional character slots and Vanguard of the Heavens character skins are the most popular items in the shop.

It'll be interesting to see how things develop over the coming months and years. Stay tuned, as we'll definitely be watching this one!

its a good casual game since they sorted out the server clogging issues I have been having a blast. its not a hardcore MMO but for a game i can play for an hour or 2  when im tired of my hours of playing skyrim.

    its great.

The mechanics remind me of Dragon Nest.. But it's not as bad a game as the community made it seem..

i saw a really wicked TV commercial for the game.

I'm glad SOE does F2P seriously, at least with this game.  It is a fun game and playing it for free is really a hell of a thing.

I'm glad for those folks that enjoy this turd that the game seems to be doing better.  Sadly, I still don't really believe anything that comes out of Smed's mouth as truth.  I'd take these stats and reduce all amounts by 50% just as a matter of principle with this tool.

I'm sure that'll teach Sony Online Entertainment, alright.

DC:U may not have pleased most of the nerds on this website, but it was still a good game at its foundation.  It wasn't worth paying $15 a month for though, so its F2P incarnation is just perfect.

Vanguard of the Heavens and Character Slots are the top sellers 'cause VotH is the ONLY new costume set on the market, and character slots are the only items appetizing on the market. (Frankly, I'm so done with the Vault that their limiting how much a Free and Premium player can use it is actually appealling to me.)

While I find the $15 for Legendary, on it's own, to be a waste of money. $20 for All Access isn't. I believe that what EQ2 offers in it's Gold subscription is EXTREMELY practical. So, for $5 more, I can be Gold in EQ2 and Legendary in DCUO (And be subscribed to all of SOE's other games). Also, I recommend the PC version anyway because, through your Station account, everything is purchasable with Station Cash (which they'll probably have a Double Station Cash offer for Thanksgiving and, if not, then Christmas).

Remember when DDO sub numbers went up like 1000% percent when it went F2p?

Yeah, failed games that go F2P have a shelflife, how often do you hear about ddo anymore?

it's a fairly new game. i tried to download but waiting for my new PC. I don't care much for smed but it seems like it might be really fun. Still love watching the intro ciematic. just one of the best out there.

It's not a bad distraction.  Actually, it's a pretty good game.  I don't give a damn about statistics or who posts them.  I just couldn't justify spending the box price at release.  F2P was a wise decision.

It's fun enough for a short time, but most MMO players can get to max in within a week easily. After that, there's not much to do. So, we'll see over time how it plays out. FTP has gotten it a second wind, though.

I think thats the problem, it wasn't really designed for veteran MMO players. But for someone into superhero hack and slash RPGs this is a great game now that its F2P. The sub model never quite worked for this game, its more of a play every now and then time of game rather than a full time commitment.

This is untrue. Vanguard is a character skin. There are several other costume pieces in the market.

It's interesting that now that there are a "ton" of people playing, the Watchtower feels deserted due to the number of phases being produced to handle the influx. It looks like, for the time being, the days of the Watchtower overflowing with all of the 30s are gone.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Grats to SOE. Hey, just curious, what's 700% of 40 bucks?

i like the game but i kinda felt  the caracter creation  is quite limited if you compare it  with the competence (champions online and CoX)
