When I logged 100+ hours I was still a "see you @ launch guy or 6 days before .". After 250+ I started holding my horses. @ 300 I was forcing myself to log in.
It took you 250 hours of in game time to realize that SWTOR is for simpletons... How does one respond to this?
As others have said, I enjoy both Skyrim and SWTOR, but they offer different experiences. I don't understand why everyone always has to draw a line in the sand.

Another variation of the "ToR is kind of bland and the 2nd lackluster release in a row from Bioware"-thread.
I think if this game had been released in late 2006/early 2007 - a lot of people that are negative/meh (self included) would've felt a lot better about the game.

I am not a fan of sci fi games at all,but i found some enjoyable gaming inside o SWTOR.
In contrast Skyrim has caused me the msot anger i have ever had in a game.I left Skyrim running 4 days straight in my PS3 in hopes i could be encouraged to just pick up the controller, but nope not a chance. My second wish was that the game woud ljust somehow burnout while running in my PS3,again nope
So now i continue to mosey around in SWTOR but Skyrim is being used to hold my energy drinks off of my laptop.I put more value in my RedBull than the Skyrim game.

I cant believe you used skyrim while bashing SWTOR... Because of you people are now calling us who love TES as Skyrim elitists.
How I wish to go back to the days during the Morrowind times when we were just the minority and we enjoyed our times with the TES modding community only...Back in those days we were all humble and we always looked and copied different game mechanics from other games...and we never bashed any other game... it's all about "which game is good? This one? Let's copy it over to morrowind!"
I wasn't going to reply to this thread but when I read that we TES fans are now called Skyrim elitists, it just saddens me. Hopefully people see the difference between the new generation TES fans to the old-school TES lovers.
Seriously? Are you really going down that road of immaturity?
Everyone joined at one point. Some people losts their accounts after thousands of posts and had to start from scratch. Others just consider posting on boards that contain fan-boy flame wars a waste of time (I am in this class normally). The sad part is that you once had 1 post under your belt, and did that invalidate your opinion on that post?
Grow up.
As for the OP, I appreciate the thoguht put into the write-up. I will be trying SWTOR and will likely play Skyrim at some point though I really want to play it on the PC and hate the porting nonsense. I appreciate hearing everyones pro's and con's and despite what many have said otherwise, there are about equal negative and positive posts on here between long-term beta-testers from what I can tell.
Some would try to make you think the only ones against it are the trolls, but after reading the last 30-40 posts from beta-testers it is apparently obvious that many people are disappointed. Given the fact that the disappointed ones were likely big time 'hype' folks for this game and jumped on the beta chance tells me it would take a significant amount to disappoint them. Meanwhile, the proponents were also likely big time 'hype' folks who are likely more biased 'for' than those of the previous group are 'against' just by nature. I would expect FAR more postive reviews than negative ones to be realistic.
That being said, I think most gamers are going to at least try this game regardless of the reviews. So, in that sense, I just don't understand the flame wars. If you like it, then don't worry if somehow posts a critical review. Respond with quality to make the dialogue better for those not able to get into the beta. If you don't like it, the calmly state your criticisms and don't jump all over those that like it and call them 'fanboys'. It's really not that difficult.
My second post in 3 years and it's not even about the game. It's about the entire lack of civility on these boards. I held back the rant for 3 years but 'Mr. Cool that you joined today' just set me off.
See most of you in SWTOR. And though I can't see you in Skyrim, I will be there as well. Both sound very deserving of my time.

Forget it. The MMO Nostalgia is nothing compared to the Scrolls Nostalgia.
When I logged 100+ hours I was still a "see you @ launch guy or 6 days before .". After 250+ I started holding my horses. @ 300 I was forcing myself to log in.
I still have my gripes with Skyrim too. The glitchyness of the console porting hurts my soul a little. A few other changes didn't feel right, but I've had a chip on my shoulder since they changed the inventory system from the Morrowind style.
This is just how it went down. I logged in to beta fFiday morning (I believe this is the last round of beta weekends?) and didn't make it through the character creator before I wanted back into Tamriel. I even started reading some Elder Scrolls lore..I was jonesing man lol. Not that the lore is so horrible that it's a last resort or anything, especially the story of the Wolf Queen, not too shabby.
Also I am no small starwars fan, short of costuming up and that atrocious 3d cartoon (OMFG it has 4 seasons! Yet they cancel shows likeFirefly, goddamn morons). Hmm..some may actually like that cartoon AND jar jar binks so in the scope of it, this game isn't all that bad LOL.
I think i just put TOR and Jar Jar Binks in the same league, maybe thats going too far :
/facepalm.
May i ask how can you label people simple minded for playing SWTOR when you spent 300 hours in it?
But if you got 250+ hours of entertainment from it then I personally would consider that a huge success and well worth the price to buy a game.
maybe I misunderstood the post. But 10+ real life days played seems like you enjoyed it alot.
Not everyone is constrained enough by economical reasons to consider quantity to be such an important factor. Several of us are able to spend, without any issues, at least 60 dollars for 20 hours; in such cases quality becomes the most important factor and quantity is just a minor consideration.

Several of us are not constrained economically with time being the most valuable. In such cases, there is NO WAY we would spend 2 hours doing something we do not enjoy much less 250+ hours.
Oh Id love to be enjoying my time in Skyrim but I still havent opened the box and have it sitting over there on the entertainment center. First I was play Pirates of the Burning Sea and still am. Loving that.
But then I heard that the PS3 version of the game (my version) has a glitch where if your save file gets over 5mb or so, the game begins to lag, and by the time it gets to be 9mb the thing is basically unplayable. So they finally came out with a patch for it, but only for Europeans and not for America yet. And Im really trying to figure that one out. Makes no sense.
And dont go telling me I should have bought it for the PC. I dont want to spend hours sitting in my PC chair when I could be sitting on the couch. Prefer a controller anyways and I like my HD tv.
But until they fix the issue I'll just leave the game rapped up and I'll play Pirates of the Burning Sea instead.

Then you talk about 30-40 post from Beta testers wwith most being negative - Hmm I have over a year in Beta and this is a total fabrication on your part.
And Finally what alternate universe were you in where the MMORPG forums were ever a bastion of civility???
I will close with you "doth protest too much, methinks."
I also did beta TOR and will not be buying or playing. Playing Skyrim for every nook I find.
Skyrim is brilliant.
That said, after TOR beta and playing Skyrim i did some thinking about MMOs. If you make an MMO that is mostly a solo experience, or that is where you put your efforts ( Bioware ), you are now competing with Single Player RPGs.
SWTOR vs ME / ME2 / DA / Skyrim etc ...
SwTor loses.
The social has to be the game for me and without that MMOs kinda well. . . .stink.

excellent point. I would P2P Skyrim before I ever would SWTOR. Bioware made a singe player RPG and will charge $15/month for it. how sweet of them.
Gotta say that Skyrim spoiled me for SWTOR. I waited like forever to get into the beta and when i finally get in this weekend, i am like is this it? Is this all you got?
I am too busy running missions for the dark brotherhood and tweaking ledgers for the theives guild while on the hunt for a priest for some dark god that wants revenge, not to mention playing hide and seek with a ghost who was killed by a vampire and there is this little thing called a civil war going on.
Skyrim may have spoiled me forever as this is now the baseline that I want my MMOs to flow from now on. If we could just have a Skyrim like co op with open world taverns wehre you can gamble, brawl and hook up with parties to play in a co op Skyrim, then I would be in heaven.
I think my days playing MMOs have come to a end.
At least til Guild Wars 2 comes out.
SWTOR, i will take my money back now.
Why all these Singleplayers guys keep talking about swtor? they have no idea what a MMO is, comparing Skyrim with swtor?. just lol. like i said before, best thing about swtor is that we wont find people like you playing and complaining because a MMO is not like a singleplayer RPG. try to play Skyrim with 5000+ in a single map, then came back and talk about how bad swtor is. And Gw2?, lol, is not even an rpg, if you love Skyrim you gonna hate Gw2 for sure.
lol. I also played swtro and I spent 90% of my time grouped up doing the open world herioc quests and flashpoints. the group intereaction during cutscenes was fun to see if your goodie goodie buddy was going to save someone or get your way and let everyone die.
I havent spent as much time grouped in a mmo since eq1 days. lets not lable a game something when its our personalities that drive our gameplay decisions. WE dont have to group or join a guild and if we choose then we can sit there all alone talking to only npc's, but that is not the fualt of the game.
Would people please stop calling this game singleplayer.
It is an MMO no matter how much you deny it. It has all of the group content you would expect from an mmo, and more. It also encourages group play at EVERY step of the game. No other game rewards you simply for playing in a group.

Hook your PC on your HDTV. Get a controller. I setup mine and never looked back. I'm even considering on buying a second hdtv for dual display for my pc lol.
