After playing Skyrim for 70+ hours I feel in many places that this setting could very well work in Forgotten Realms campaign settings.
This would of course be not use Dungeon and Dragons ruleset.
You have the world settings, the skills, the caves, the towns/villages, the quests, mobs ect everything is set for a foundation for a Forgotten Realms game.
What do you guys think?
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

There have been a ton of games set in Forgotten Realms, but it's been awhile since the last one. Using the formula Betheseda uses to make great games such as Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas for example they would probably make a great D&D game.
So far is the only really good Forgotten realms computer game Biowares Neverwinter nights, so I wouldn't complain if they made a modern improved version of it (not to be confused with Cryptic/Perfect worlds MMO with the same name).
But I guess BEthesda could make a good FR game, even though I personally would prefer Rockstar for it if the contest is open, Rockstar is also excellent at sanboxes.
Anyways, I am talking with FR 1-3,5 now, FR 4,0 would really not make a particularly good MMO at all since it is rather bad. Ravenloft would make a better MMO now, FR 4,0 is really bad and misses most of the things that made the setting so good in the first place.
Nah, Daggerdale was just released 6 months or so ago. It sucked, but it was FR.
This will not be popular:
After playing Morrowind, FallOut 3, Oblivion and Skyrim I have no desire to play yet another game that has the exact same feel. I think its time they altered their gameplay.
So funny you mentioned this, cause I was thinking about the same thing last week while reading The Erevis Cale Trilogy.
I know I'd play it.
If it was Dark Sun campaign setting... yes
Storm of Zehir wasnt THAT bad, kinda short though.
"LOL"
In what way?
you are thinking in TES terms I was more thinking more the foundation of Skyrim world that they have created the quests, the world build ect.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
It's not that I don't like the post, everyone has their own opinion. For me, I'd rather have bethesda create same genre games. This is what they're good at, and this is where they deliver the best game experience.
If I want other games, I'd look at other developer's games. Each developer has its own distinctive signature when making games.

omg I cant even picture a NWN or ID(Icewind Dale.. I know not a popular one but one of my favs) done by Bethesda.... I just can't comprehend how good that would be.
If only we could make them do it . Oh the glory, to see that world brought to life by Bethesda. I would never leave my house!
I would like to see them do Fallout the MMORPG once the lawsuit is over. (it may even be over I have not kept up with it)
