Ok guys it was a smooth beta test, i agree. I accept that it was very fun and i enjoyed everything it had to offer. I will play definitely at 15th BUT...
Bear with me please
After all the qs are done, all the cutscenes are over what next? Operations?
Operations are fine but they need to get supported by a dynamic world through which you feel that you are exactly in a world, not a series of instances!
Warzones? As for them only the hardcore will be able to play and replay and replay and again replay them, its going to get boring fast.
Remember the isle of quelthalas on wow? i believe it was one of the best mmo experiences ever...it combined EVERYTHING!
is there anything like that on tor?
i enjoyed TOR immensely but the world is dead....come on !!! is there a reason to explore the planets at all? They could use the world as a crafting farm tool...make mobs drop rare ingredients so ppl will travel and fight over them!
i am afraid that after all the cutscenes there will be nothing more to enjoy as a mmo should be enjoyed.

My plan is for Illum to take over my endgame goals. Untill GW2 comes out.
Everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online
Playing: GW2
Waiting on: TESO
Next Flop: Planetside 2
Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
Good news young padawan! Indeed rare crafting schematics DO drop throughout the worlds.. as do rare special items (usually tagged as 'experimental') that can be upgraded and modified .. I got six schematics this weekend at random across three worlds. Theres also the holocrons to find on all the planets and sometimes loot items will have higher then normal quality components such as crystals in them which you can strip out which leads to more rewards from loot. So that at least I can tell you isn't a concern. I only got to level 28 though so i can't really speak on end game.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
It will probably be world pvp for me; on Illum, Outlaw's Den and the other pvp enabled planets, occasional warzones, hard mode flashpoints, an operation now and then, perfecting my crafting skills and RP'ing whenever I get the chance. So quite a bit.
Only if I'm bored with all that, or the server community isn't so appealing, I'll roll a new class on the opposing faction for more story / rpg goodness.
My brand new bloggity blog.
But how long will all these keep a player to the game?
most players are used to another environment - open worlds with ganking and farming. SWTOR replaced these with story but story will keep you for how long? how many times will you play through the story?
Question you should ask is how long any MMO can keep any player to the game? there is no guarantee really. I have seen both type of MMOS one with end game and one with no end game not being able to keep players interested for a long time. It is not like old times when you had 2 or 3 MMO choices and didn't have many options. There are so many MMOS in market that if you get 3 to 6 months play time i would say job well done.
But hey many have been playing WOW for 7 years so there is no definite answer to your question.
There is nothing stopping Bioware putting out more content that is more mainstream MMORPG than Voice over cut scene based. In fact given the cost and time implications of voice over questlines, it is almost a certainty.
So what would that leave us with ?
A Voice Over class centric 0-50 experience and ever expanding open world planets and instanced raid/group content max levelers will want to explore and play in ?
Sounds like a perfectly viable model to me.
Caveat Emptor
I think that would be a mistake, they will build a community based on current game play, if they completely change the way the game plays such that it slaps the existing community in the face, they will lose subscribers. I would be more inclined to see a littel bit of lotro progression perhaps play content along a timeline basis as the hatred between the republic and empire develops into war etc.
There is so much content in this genre its a case of where do you begin.
Currently Waiting for Guild Wars 2.
They are not changing it.
It is an mmorpg and as others have posted above, exploring, solo grinding, world pvp, crafting, gear drops, gear modifications, mounts, group content and raids are all already in the game. Including more "traditional" mmo fare is not likely to alienate mmorpg players if it is done well.
An expansion with no voice over character/ class progression content might be an issue though.
Caveat Emptor
One of the great things in this game is that it has infinite possibilities for expansion. If for instance there was a huge call from the subscribers for more sandbox type content Bioware could simply add another planet that was completely sandbox without affecting the rest of the game. If there was a call for complex crafting options? add another planet rich in rare and unique elements; all of course difficult to get and requiring new skills to be learned. If there was a call for more of the same, add another planet.... well you get the idea. Most MMO's are stuck to a single world. When you can add as many worlds as you like then the sky is no longer the limit.
really sad to discuss about future expansions at this time...
i will play but i am convinced that the "no-need to explore" gamestyle will cripple the game soon.
i love everything about Star Wars!! Instanced galaxy though is not one of the things i love.
ppl should have incentives to go out in the open and do stuff...but the beta didnt give me a reason to do it...i really hope that on higher lvls the world feels more alive with many players out in the wilds!
Plz Bioware dont FUC...this over... it is Star Wars!!!!
