Read what the question says up there and think about any game that comes to mind when thinking about what Dark and Light is gonna have and feature.
One game that definitley comes to my mind is Horizons for me cause of property, and the focus on the community in the game. But there are a lot of things which are not in Horizons which are in DnL. Can you think of anything? and give a reason...

Isn't wish extinct
I WISH it came out :P, sad! I heard it was really great.
Ultima Online is the first and only game that comes to mind when I read about D&L.
The skill titles being called Masters and Grandmasters. The open pvp and ability to build residences. The crafting. All of it.
yeah except i dont think its open PvP which is a shame, i liked the Open PvP about Ultima :P
Its just Light fighting Dark i guess...correct me if im wrong!
Frontier 1859.
Wish, Mourning, Dawn, Dragon Empires, UXO, Warhammer Online, Mythica, Ultima Online II and probably some others that escape me right now.
Bottom line is that I guess I am just tired of waiting and after E3 this year I am sure if it is ever released it will already be with outdated graphics and with more than half the features either missing or buggy and that's kind of sad.
I miss DAoC
the original UO comes to mind as far as game play
sans the graqphics of course
and thats saying alot
from what i have read DNL is open pvp
even in the safe zones I read it would be possible to have high level baddies appear on occaision
but this was a while back may have changed since then
how can you be sure of that
from what i got out of E3 was that vanguard promises to be another EQ@ with all the quirky game controls to boot
DDO will be a 100 dungeon crawler
and DNL will be the only one with a fresh new game engine with a world so big and emersive that it makes vangaurd devs look silly with their feable attempt
but that only my opinion
others may not agree
Don't get me wrong, the game looks great in theory, but then so did Mourning.. Even the most fanatic fanboy has to admit that the game did exactly grab center stage this year at E3. In fact there were a number of games that just blew it out in most peoples opinions.I have to admit that I was not there however my co worker describes it a s a big beautiful world with not much else in place except a great travel system. Characters were blah at best, and combat was rather uninspiring. Mobs were scarce and even some of the travel was buggy. I can't state that any of this is fact since I have not seen the game in action myself of course, but judging from what i have heard and read it still seems to need a lot of work. Right now DnL has went from a gotta have it to a I will wait for the free trial on my list at least.
edit and Vanguard and DDO will both be forced grouping although last I heard McQuaid was trying to dance around that. My money still says it will still end up as you stated EQ play dynamics with a fresh graphics engine. But then neither one has ever caused me to get even vaguely interested at any time, so DnL has both of them beat there.
I miss DAoC
Five words: Roma Victor. And, um... pigeons.
Yeah you are right about DnL.....I can't get the right information about the game that I wan't...People keep deceiving themselves from the facts and keep increasing the hype. I believe DnL (because of the silence from the devs) is really over hyped...and will be a great disappointment to some many people. One of the things I hated the most from all the samples I've seen is the pvp....it is the most important thing in the game! This game should be practically all about pvp and conquest and craft and aidiing the community...but most importantly light fighting dark which means the combat system should be grade A which I haven't seen so far.... I hate the armours...The game will be player driven with the players creating their own quests so don't expect anything special quest wise.
Anyway if I am wrong please correct me....I wish for this game to be good but I can't see it!
And if you do correct me don't come up with bull or forum romours - plain official facts plz!
A game it reminds me of is Dark Age of Camelot. Perhaps it should be called DAoC2.
Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open.
Don't forget, you can use the block function on trolls.
DnL is level based and factional warfare and keep taking but with only two gigantic sides...so yeah, daoc comes closest.
Can't really say UO because no level based game can really be compared to it...UO didn't have grind other than in crafting maybe, i'm yet to see level based game without grind
