How do I get xp now?

LeigordLeigord Member Posts: 9

Ok me and my brother just started back playing after a year of being gone.  Before I pretty much soloed all my xp but now I noticed it's near impossible to kill stuff with my own combat lvl.  Killing everything else just gave me 1 point of pistol xp. What am I supposed to do? Group?

My brother couldnt remember his login name so he started a new char with a lvl 2 combat.  I'm a lvl 40 combat and when we group we're getting difficulty lvl 41 missions that we cannot do.  Can you not solo anymore?

How is combat level determined?  I still have some first aid skills and CH from where I had tried different professions back in the day.

We're really looking at some advice on how we can progress in the game now.  This seems an overly complicated method of gaining xp and weapon skill to me, or maybe we just havent grasped the idea of it yet.  People in game advised us to go to mining outpost on Dantooine and we could find some help there.  All we found were a bunch of bot sellers and high combat lvls going out.

Thanks in advance for all the help.  We're gonna get it figured out image

Spent the whole night getting a couple of houses up and decorated.  Player housing is a neat aspect of this game.  The new decorations and pics are really cool too.

Ok first off you need to check and see what weapon you are using... odds are you're using a gun that's way below the damage you're capable of doing. Might want to do a little shopping for the best pistol you can use. Make sure that you meet the certification requirements before you buy.

Next: A CL40 player grouped with a "CL2" player should be able to easily handle CL41 missions without much trouble. The biggest thing to remember is you can't fight 3-4 mobs at a time anymore, you need to kill them 1, max 2, at a time (I can take on 3 using roots/stuns and snares but it's dicy) that are your CL or higher. Be careful and try to make sure you don't get more than 2 at a time or you'll die. Best to try to get missions for non-aggro critters and avoid NPC missions till you learn aggro radius' again.

As far as CL80's going out there's nothing wrong with grouping up with them. When you group you are artificially boosted in defensive ability to the level of the highest person in the group. You won't have the HAM or the attack abilities of an 80 but you won't get obliterated in 1 hit either.

Pull missions 1 CL below, Even with, or 1 CL above your CL until you get the hang of things.
Don't take AGGRO missions (usually these say 'wolf, mutant, raging, etc' beside the name which indicates the critters will be aggressive.... Also turn on CON colors on the radar, this will help you as well.

If you are using armor and haven't got a mastery in an elite profession you should probably take it off and do without till you get a master box so you aren't being penalized for the armor.

Get in a friendly guild. What server are you on?
