Now which are US and EU, and which are PvE and which are PvP and which get the RP label?
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Would be about right...possibly a little low - the industry 'standard is between 15-25K accounts per server. What's going to be interesting to see is how they actually launch.
With guild deployment working the way it is - they're probably going to have to open the whole batch right at Early Access.
Its a good job the server you are on, lists the number of characters you have on each server. Imagine forgetting wahat server you was on , then having to go through that whole list individually to find your character :P
Where did you get this list from and also see second post in this thread

120 a launch seems like it could be right, especially if they really did limit the amount of copies they've presold.

Add to this, they really need to break down the Republic/Empire populations (IMO anyways) - even if it's just a low/med/high. For the Alts that I do roll on PVP servers, I definaly prefer rolling on 'underdog' realms.
Hope this is enough LOL

Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
The servers can scale internally, creating additional instances of each zone for as many people as is needed up to some preset limit. It allows them to spread the load around a bit. They won't have to add or remove as many servers as they might if they went with a static number of players per server. It also keeps there from being too many people in any one area. You won't get 10 people standing on top of a boar's spawn point.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
I half expected there to be an HK-47 PvP server.

They will need way more. this last beta i was in ques to logon on to my toon that took 40 minutes plus. 2 hours on some of them. it's a good start but this game is going to have far more people that projected. the next beta weekend will tell the tale.
How many NA/EU servers does WoW have? If they capped at 4.5 mill subs in these regions, TOR could probably get by with about 2/3 of that. TOR has 900k NA hardcopy preorders as of last week., but IDK about EU + digital numbers, but even if they get 3 million as some analysts think, seems they won't need as many as WoW.
Server hardware is different now than it was when WoW started as well, they can handle a lot more at a much cheaper price.
I know WoW upgraded their "original" set of servers some time around wrath I believe, but I'm not sure if they ever changed how many people could be on a single server at a time.

I usually tend to aim for the highest populated server when I play MMO's.. Like Braircliff for Rift.. But it got old waiting in hour long ques on the weekends so i'm not sure if i'll do that again.. I just hope they follow Rifts example and offer free server transfers when things settle down..
