Seriously,we find bugs we report them and give feedback on the builds your confusing CB testers with whatever that weekend thing was.
What has polarized the CB community so much is we keep giving feedback only to be told that they have no plans to address whatever concern was brought up so pretty much marganizling what we were trying to do which was/is make the best launch possible.
This wasn't one time this pretty much all the time.It was very odd indeed considering BioWares background but whatever,it is what it is.
don't think that they are actually asking you for your opinion on how to make a good game. There are people who they listen to for feedback and those people get paid.
I was an in house tester for NC in Austin from 02 to 05 and later in Seattle from 08 to Sept 2010 (currently employed at UBISoft in Montreal) while I can't speak for BioWare NC took the concerns of their closed beta/Alpha testers just as seriously as the concerns of the in house testers if not more so,we tested the current build for the CBT confirming all major bugs were addressed it would pass the QA and would be released to the CB community to address smaller bugs the lead testers were not able to address.
And no the in house testers do not influence the game to the degree your assuming, yes somethings would be requested to be ommited or added but it was all very superficial,it's not feasible to make sweeping changes to a game from a pool of around 100 in house testers the majority of which are employed part time.
I think I said tester too much now the word sounds weird...
*YAWN!* You don't like it for whatever reason. Misrepresenting things to make you points look better. Actually seem to be upset because the game is what the Developers SAID it would be and not what you WANTED it to be. Got it. Moving on now.
This here. The OP is complaining that the game isn't what he imagined it would be even though the devs have been pretty up front about the direction the game was going since day 1.
The game isnt really nothing like i expected either... it is way better, can´t totally explain why it is much better then any other mmo i played, other then... it is STAR WARS.
It will not flop. It's up to a million pre-orders. All of the non-digital collector's editions are sold out (can't buy them from Amazon, Walmart, Bestbuy, Target, etc.).
To be sure, it may lose subs if they make too many mistakes or leave in too many bugs/exploits but I have no doubt that it will make a lot of money for at least the first few months. It won't be going f2p within a year. It's as safe an investment in MMORPGs as there is outside of a Wow expansion.
Even outside of the VO, the end game raiding looks damn good compared to Wow's (from what I've seen).
This game has the potential to pull in gamers burned out on fantasy games and pull in new MMOers that like Star Wars but don't like fantasy games.
I'm not saying I love it; I don't. But many of us here are not the target audience and the target audience is huge.
Well i will tell you why, because when Bioware announced they will make their first mmo, and this even though they have now EA behind and probably screwing very hard with this company whatever both end of the stick are saying, we all know Bioware is more the old EA team than the Bioware team. But let put this aside and pretend Bioware is still the good old day Bioware we are all loving.
Well its pretty simple i was sure, like 100% sure, that those guys were really smart, and when they began to say they will have the story be at the forefront of their 1r mmo, i was like damn it, it will be very good, because it will fix the biggest "problems" mmo have, which is the lack of role playing content. You know the kind of stuff like stealing for exemple. You know you play this bad ass Sith that like to torture people, do the real bad things that annoy everyone like stealing for example. The kind of things no modern mmo can really have because some players will exploit the f... of it. I was like, damn the usual Bioware story will really make your character feel like he is doing what he is supposed to do, and not what the mmo mold force it to do. You are a jedi and want to have some finger into politics, the story will let you just do that if you go into that branch of the story. You want to be this really stealthy Sith that always stay under cover in the Jedi academy (i stretch it just for the heck of it), well the story will have something for you. And so on and so on, i hope people get what i mean here. i really though the story would give the tools the mmo genre lacked all those years, the tools to have a character that really is what he is supposed to be in a grand Ip like SW.
But you know what, we got nothing of this, story is nothing more than some stupid "get 10 rats" or fed ex quest line, they offer nothing of what some hero from the Star war universe are supposed to do in one of the LA film, or at least you don't feel as it at all. They simply are not a tool to describe something huge happening around your character, they are just an other mmo tool, in fact everything in this game feel like an other mmo tool, just superficial and tasteless. Even with that of a strong universe as SW, you just never feel the force behind. What a shame. I think that's one of the strongest reason i really dislike this game, not for what he is, but for what it will never be and was supposed to be in my mind at least. Swtor didn't put back the rpg in our mmo, what a shame! NWN was just so much better from this point of view. And i think the worst is that in fact they never even wanted to do that, they just wanted to do an other mmo ala wow. Now tell me Bioware is still where it should be? i won't believe you, it just can't be.
come on by creating these threads over and over with made up accounts and stuff they prove everyoe hates the game didnt u know that.
They create 100 threads with 99 made up accounts for every real negative poster . Its they only way the negative pots will outweight the postivive threads. so they have to do it they have to.
didnt u know its there job to pick the games we love to play and enjoy. Its there job to tell us what is a good game or not and to save use from ourselves.
We dont knw enough to pic our own games if we like tor. They have to save us they have to convert us to haters of all games too.
They cant enjoy playing an mmo so they dont want anyone else to either.
while many do this a lot do not. Many people have genuine concerns for the game and want to express there feelings here to get some feedback and discussion. I honestly didn't really read much of the OPs post and have more or less just been exchanging comments with others just happens to be in this thread.
If you have "genuine concerns" for the game, then here is not the place to post them. Try the SWTOR beta forums, specifically in the "Feedback" sub-forums.

I probably should.. Although official forums are even more jaded than here for the most part. Once the games released Ill probably start posting on there though(not the beta forums but you know)

Jaded in what way?
on official forums I generally see more people who either love the game no watter what or people who ust go to troll. Not like it's that much differn't here though but still have gotten a few good conversations going here.
I don't think SWTOR is a bad game. It just may be a game that does not appeal to many veteran MMO players. But for what is it is a well made game.
I got into beta 3-4 months ago but I have rarely played. I think its a good game. I love the voice acting and for once I acually pay attention to the quests. But I don't like the combat its to action orientated for me and well I just don't have fun playing the game. Not to say its a bad game I think its a well done.
But if I was going to play I would have 3 concerns. On the beta boards people have been complaing for months that it takes 30-50 hours to max a character. I cannot speak to that myself as I have not gone higher than 20. Second, the end game has been completely untested. A few weeks ago I recieved an email that they were going to do a high level testing server to start testing the end game But I have not logged on since. Third the game seems to being made not for veteran MMO players but for the casuals who want fast gameplay, action combat and little substance where everyone wins. Being a raider I question will the game have challenging raid combat. At first glance I think many would say no. But given the failure of all recent games without serious raid combat they may surprise us. Are there many serious raiding guilds going to SWTOR? I don't know and have not even looked. With only 3 supported raid games left, EQ2, WoW and Rift they have the oppurtunity to acquire many long term subs.
I am sure SWTOR will do well in the short term. I have questions about retention after 2-3 months. I just don't see the content to keep a veteran player playing after the 30 days are done. But I hope I am wrong. Regardless I hope the game does well. Cerrtainly it will do better than many poorly made or flawed games like War and AoC which were dead and ghost towns 3-4 weeks after release. I think its good enough to keep bringing in new players to replace old players unlike those two other games for some time after release. I just question will it keep many veteran players and be just a game for the super casual or non mmo player.
I probably should.. Although official forums are even more jaded than here for the most part. Once the games released Ill probably start posting on there though(not the beta forums but you know)

Ahhh, I see. Yeah, I'd agree. I think that's kind of the way the game is. It's very polarizing. There seems to be a small section of people that like it or think it's okay, but most fall into the "Hate it" or "Love it" category.

That's because Bioware put the option to solo for people who prefer that play style. As a soloer i love this option and enjoy it, that being said i had more fun grouping with a friend when he got into a beta weekend. It was like good cop/bad cop, i as usual went with all the nice guy options and he went with the smartass/mean options (except if it involved light side points then he would chose that). Never laughed so hard in a game before and that's the best part of grouping, you just never know what dialog choice someone is gonna take. Of course i would only group with friends and not random pugs.
And just to add, i still find it quite funny that those who expected it to be or were hoping it to be a sandbox game are all butt hurt and disappointed it's not. From the beginning Bioware said what this game was going to be and imo they delivered on just that. Love the story, has a kotor/mass effect feel to it, they made questing fun for me again and liked how they made the "kill 10 rats" optional in the forum of a bonus quest. You don't need to do them, but they are good xp if you do and honestly goes by pretty fast, especially if your grouping.
I'll play this game some time down the road when they iron out the game more and weed out the haters who are playing for the sake of gathering bashing material.
I mostly solo..grouping when necessary , almost never raiding or dungeon running and PvPing when I feel inclined. I can say one thing I learned in beta....at least for me....this game made me want to group. I was actually enjoying myself in the Heroics and Flashpoints. Maybe I'll actually enjoy TOR's version of raids as well. Only game where I actually looked forward to grouping for quests and fun.
sidenote: don't care what others think about huttball ...it is fun as shite. Only problem I had with it was the stupid gameshow announcer voice.lol.Enjoyed the other warzones as well. Really love the feel of combat in this game.
