1. Set up a Sony Station account, EQ2 Extended should be automatically activated.
2. Yes, at least I can with EQ2X. I can't find it in the controls, but you should be able to alternate to windowed with alt+enter. Then resize the window by dragging the border.
3. I don't believe that is possible.
4. There are a lot of mounts, around 200: http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Mounts_(EQ2)
5. Yes. 9 crafting professions http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Crafting_Classes_%28EQ2%29
6. Yes. You just missed the Heroe's Festival. http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Heroes'_Festival_(EQ2_Live_Event) Frostfell is coming up http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Frostfell_%28EQ2_Live_Event%29_AOD
Now for some things you didnt ask.
For me, EQ2's biggest downfall is the spell system. I am probably in the minority on this but I have never liked the spell drop system. At each spell/skill level, you are given the basic versions of the spells you are going to use. You have to either get lucky and find your upgrades to your spells in drops off of mobs or buy them off the auction house. Depending on what class you are, they can be outragously expensive or dirt cheap. If you play a healer class or a pet class, expect them to be really expensive, even on the free servers. I was shocked when I played on the free servers to see how much people were still charging for spells even though you are limited to how much money you can have because you are playing the free version.
So take that however you feel, it is a big turn off for me. Also note that the free version of EQ2 has severe limites on the starting classes and races you can play. You can buy other race/class packs though if you find you enjoy the game. EQ2 despite its spell/skill drop system is a AAA MMO, it is not your standard free 2 play stuff you see from overseas.
1. EQ2X can still be tried out for free on a limited account. EQ2X and EQ2 live are being merged soon. I dont know all the details, but you will still be able to create a free bronze account after that change.
Go to Everquest2.com, hit the big Play free button on the homepage. You will have the option to choose EQ2X or a 14 day trial for live. Choose either, both lead you to a link for game download. Go back to the homepage. Choose "log in to your profile" in the upper right hand corner. You will be given an option to create an account from there.
2. Yes, I usually play so that I still have my task bar showing so that I can window out easily.
3. No, generally WASD or the arrrow keys are used.
4. There is 4 types of mounts. 1. Standard ground mounts. Horses, tigers, various other animals. At about level 30 you can get a leaper mount, # 2, these can be used as ground mounts, but aren't as fast. Their big thing is that they jump very high, makes getting aroundeasy. #3 is a glider. It is a combination between a flying mount and a running mount. Get these at level 60. They are a bit difficult to control ,but fun to mess around on. They look cool too, I have a Komodo looking one. Lastly there are flying mounts. Griffins, other various birds, I think there's a carpet.
You can get the first three kinds of mounts by doing quests in game, or purchasing them with in game money. The flying mount requires the Velious expansion.
5. There is tradeskills. And there is a tradeskill dedicated to cooking food, the Provisioner. Tradeskilling is like a little minigame. You cant just click a button, you have to actually watch and use 6 different skills to balance out two lines, durabiltiy, and prgression. Best way to get the hang of it is by doing it.
6. EQ2 has lots of events, during major holidays and general seasons. Example, The Christmas one, Frostfell, is coming soon. Also during the summer there is Tinkerfest. Those are just two, here is a variety of them. Some also happen on a monthly basis as well, rather than yearly. For example, during the first week of each month a city festival appears in a different city, offering various house items and a couple of fun little quests.
1. From Wednesday there'll be no more X server, all servers will give the choice of subscription or microtransactions.
2. Windowed mode is normal, especailly for multiboxing. You can still have the graphics looking good because EQ2 is more CPU intensive than GPU.
3. You can move with the DAWS keys, or cursor keys, or by holding down both mouse buttons.
What I say is my opinion - you go get your own!
