General: Top 5 MMO Holiday Gifts

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

With less than three weeks until Christmas, Hanukkah and/or Kwanzaa, folks are filling out their shopping lists for their favorite gamers and anxiously heading to the mall. In The List today, we take a look at five terrific gifts for the gamer in your life. Read on and then let us know what you think in the comments.

The holidays are filled with gifts that your family and co-workers will buy you that you don’t want. “Thanks for the clothes again Mom, I really wanted a Cosby sweater,” I can hear it now. Oh yay, a new sweater! We’re gamers damn it! Do you think we care what we look like? Have you been to a PAX? Unless it is some form of black t-shirt with some kind of awesome game thing on it, it goes in the closet and never comes out. So here is a list of items you can but for your MMO playing spouse/friend/relative this holiday.

Read more of Garrett Fuller's The List: Top 5 MMO Holiday Gifts .

Lighhning bolt, lightning bolt, lightning bolt! Kid chucking tin foil balls. Video was awesome. Can't believe it was mentioned here lol.

Razer should have gone with the Blackwidow line for keyboard. Atleast it could justify the price. Nothing I fancy here though...

This list is a complete failure in my book, much rather give someone Skyrim than the junk listed here, at least they would have fun with that gift.

Shame that the MMO landscape is so mediocre at the moment.  Wish I saw something coming down the pipe that was promising.

If I had to ask for a MMO gift, I would ask LA to let SOE host pre NGE SWG servers.  Now that would blow away anything now online.

Had my wife buy me Skyrim for Christmas, told her to hold off on SWTOR for now, besides anyone interested in that title has already pre-ordered it.  image

Now if it was me some kick arse Alienware gaming laptop would be on the list, but alas that will have to wait until 1st Qtr of next year.

I could actually agree with that sentiment if Skyrim wasn't so poorly ported to the PC.  When will Bethesda get a clue that there is a huge PC market for their Console games?

Wow...  $250 for a keyboard...  YIKES!  To be fair, it is a pretty sweet peripheral, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to spend that much!

Lol sorry for no link. I watched the video literally like 10 years ago, didn't have one to provide :-P

Anything with a subscription, I feel, is a terrible gift. Generally speaking, anyway. Cell-phones included. Because the baggage that comes with that is that the person on the recieving end of the transaction still has to pay a recurring fee for their "gift" :/

I'll agree, I would've added Skyrim to the list instead of any one of those.  However, I think most people already have Skyrim don't they?  Maybe BF3 or Arkham City.  Or for the nerd on your list a build-it-yourself computer package off newegg or tigerdirect :D:D:D  (that's what i got last year hehe)

    yeesh...expensive gifts

I think the Rift shirt is the best even if you aren't a huge fan it still looks ok. Much more practical.

would be nice to have gw2 for christmas XD hahaha

    lol?

Don’t get me started on how this is a plot for Bioware and LucasArts to usurp the joy of Christmas by causing huge family battles over game-time.--Garrett Fuller

We solved that problem in our family by getting a copy of TOR for each family member. The family that games together, stays together!

au contraire, mahatma (don't actually mean anything by that. just quoting). i would like some to give me skyrim for a the pc and i already own it. (at least we don't have dragons that fly backwards).

also this list is... no. just... no. someone get me deus ex hr. keep your tripe. someone else can have it (i have played all of those games, so i feel like i am entitled to my opinion).

I semi disagree. If its something you know they want then go for it. They know full well a subscription is part of the deal. Part of the problem with SWTOR is if you know someone who would want it odds are they have already got it lol. Or you can be like me. I got SWTOR for my best friend of 20yrs who is layed off. I'm also going to pay the sub for him untill he finds a job. That or untill we start playing GW2 lol.

Believe it or not, this is just Garrett's list... though I have to admit I'd have put the MLG headset in there somewhere.  :)

I cut my pinky off as a kid. It was sown back on but it makes me sick to touch anything with it. This keyboard would make me barf all day long =( .

I have full use of my hands and the keyboard still makes me barf. On other hand price isn't too much of worry, 250 is bit too much for my range now, but what can I say, one I am typing on was 154€...

Skyrim is not an MMO, so I have no interest in playing it. Single player games = bleh.

    Good list, imo.

They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair.
