Matters what you like. Guild Wars is more of a game that you don't need to play every day or so to stay with its for the more play once a week or whenever you like becuase of the no monthly fee. Only problem is it only goes up to lvl 20......... plus they won't have a monthly fee becuase they want you to pay for the expansions.
WoW is a bit for hardtaking. i really didn't like it too much mainly becuase raiding parties was just dumb "lets go die for no reason becuase we can't take anything over and if we kill someone they can respawn!!" plus PvP wasn't great for no rewards now they do have rewards but that just makes me hate it more becuase now i will die for sure. While i attack that creature a horde will come up to kill you in the middle of battle or wait for you to respawn or just walk in groups of 3 when they are 20 lvls higher then you and just smite you. Other then that good game well except the toonish graphics they have taken since WarCraft3 and i hate the failsafe crafting.
If you want to run around in ages, grind, grind, grind, grind, and be playing forever just to get to level 60, and having nothing to do after that, plus paying 15 bucks a month: World of Warcraft
If you want a game with story, with a real storyline, with no need to running around for ages, a great community and awesome graphics, and a game that costs nada after you have bought it: Guild Wars

Glad to hear that man.. I always get a kick out of people who try to compair Guild Wars to World of WarCraft.. they are two totaly different games. One is a MMORPG, and the other is just a RPG.
If you were to compair GW to anything Diablo would be more in line than WoW.
DAoC>WoW or GW, GW is too repetitive and gets boring easily, WoW is too child oriented. DAoC has been a huge contender still in the MMORPG world even though it is one of the oldest ones still activly played/updated ect ect Ive been playing for many.....many years, and ive tried both GW and WoW, both were good games, not saying either are bad at all, but DAoC combines some of the best ideas ive seen together. The community of WoW is mostly 15- so its good if your young. Most of who play DAoC are atleast 20+. My vote would be to forget the new ones, they are just "trendy" now and in a few years will be empty.
Cool, I play DAOC as well, and Agree, I enjoy its game play. I like its Crafting too.. they made it fun, not tedious. I also like the way they did bows.. and added the better swimming with Atlantis. the idea of having 3 safe areas, and then a big area to PVE/PVP is awesome.. also the Traveling Instance Dungeon was a cool idea.. I think they were the first to do Instance Dungeons, as well as Word Dumgeons as well. The Capturing of relics was a very cool idea.. yeah i agree DAOC is a far supior game.. but people are always into the NEW thing.. and often forget the great games they already have.
So Iplay WOW, and DAOC.. and every now and then PlanetSide..

GW is PVP based, there is a storyline big enough for the 49.99 EUR i payed for it but the game is for the PVP crowd, PVP PVP PVP, damn it! u just dont want to understand do you?? im sick of it people flaming the game cuz of lvl cap. I found the WOW is much more fun to play then Guild Wars. The instancing in GW could be very fun but I have found it hard to find people to group with resulting in me soloing. Also, the grapics in WOW are much more interesting and easier to see then in GW. Well just my 2 cents.
Sir vampire is correct. forget about the level cap it doesn't really matter. It is whether or not you like to play the game. If you sre only interested in meeting maximum level then I think you will begin to get very bored with any online game. or any computer game for that matter.
In my own happy opinion, I would play neither of them. I played WoW up to level 48 with a warlock. It was fun. But it just doesnt play very long. I only played for about 3 monthes and it kinda became boring. Guild Wars is complete crap. Its not an MMO and shouldnt even be on this website. If you consider GW an mmo then you would also have to consider D2 an mmo. All GW is, is Diablo 2 with a graphical/interactive chat rooms to find people to play with.

PvP in Guild Wars is all about good teamwork and the right team members. WoW is more skill oriented, but has strength in numbers syndrom. WoW takes more time to have fun, but the fun lasts longer. Guild Wars RP is really boring but the PvP is fun for a while.

O and btw being free should really effect your decision, 15$ isnt much considering I would buy 2 or 3 one player games a month if it wasnt for MMORPGs.
I say neither, WOW is what I like to call a "starter kit MMO" its soo mainstream. Really all wow is good for is getting people into the mmo genre. WOW is too simplistic and gets VERY boring... all the quests are the same(kill X creatures or get x hides) thats it. Pvp is pointless in WOW because there are no penalties. Guild wars I personally havn't tried tho is hear its only fun for a bit because it doesn't have that epic "massive" feel that an mmo has because u can only play with 8 vs 8 max. SOOO If it'sbetween only the two id say GW.

go with guild wars, wow has one of the worst combat systems ever in an mmo, the graphics are cartoony and the community is pretty bad to say the least. on the other hand given the ammount of people that play wow it does feel like its the place to be, resist that urge...just because something is in vogue doesnt mean its any good.
i love WoW but overall you become using .50 per day which seems like nothing but its like $40 for 3 months but meh it is much betetr then guildwars but guildwars HIGHLY focuses on PvP.
but arcraft focuses both on roleplay,game beating,and PvP. my opinion/suggestion: WoW= if you want a GREAT online game to enjoy for along time GW= if your not having a nice income of money per month to live with.
Id personaly choose WoW, although i quit a couple months ago after reaching high warlord on my shaman which i overplayed it to much. Regular updates, always new content every so often. PvP is fun untill you actualy get addicted and start farming CP

i spend more than 8 months play WOW which include 2 lv 60 character and
complete a lot quests which is fun.
i spend 20 days or maybe less,, for GW,
only thing GW can offer is lv 20. and some stupid unskipable quests.
if u can not finish quest, u can not go next place. no good at all,,,,,, now i am wating for Dark andlight.
