Trying to compile a fairly decent idea of what it takes to run SWTOR at max settings as well as see what lower end comps can do. Feel free to post your specs and OS.
I personally was a little disappointed in SWTOR's performance, my comp chugged in cutscenes and capitols while it ate Rift alive and I think it's graphically comparable.

Pretty much max settings.
In some cases movign the camera was too quick so I had to do something about that.
The issues I had were more related to lag in the conversations. For some reason my connection to the server kept yo-yoing. However, a friend of mind didn't ahve that problem and he was on the same server. It seemed to get better the later in the evening but during the day the game, in this last beta test, was practiclaly unplayable with regards to the scene conversations.
I'm hoping that was just "an issue" and not something i will have to contend with during launch. *crosses fingers*

I run it on max settings with a comp I built in 2007, that only has a 8800GTX for video card.
Ran at max settings without any problems at all

Note: My Girlfriends computer is almost exactly like mine, except for she has 8gb of Ram, a Nividia Geforce GTX 220 and a lower end power supply. She cannot run at high settings as it bogs it down sometimes. We are in the process of getting her a new video card and power supply that will be better for the computer. It doesn't look horrible at all, just cannot run at high on everything like mine.
For me I get max settings on everything plus I forced anti ailising in amd catalyst to x4 + Edge smoothing(i think its called). I was getting around 30fps with these settings. (This was with beta graphics)
I was able to play the game fine on these settings, youll be surprised to see my system is doing well with the components I have.
Operating System: Windows 7 home premium

Not bad for my rig to be able to play it at full whack with Forced x4 anti ailising with no noticeable issues ! Lets see if its the same with the retail client .

I'd think OP would want to have 4gb of RAM.
My rig: AMD duo core 2.8ghz, 4gb RAM, GTX 260
I run at High in 1680x1050 at a bit below 30fps. Even at 20fps it reasonably playable.
Those were some awesome cards.
guys, SWOTR beta only had the max settings of High, as the top selection, when t goes live i have a feeling they will add 'Ultra' to the lists in options.
No beta's to this date offer Ultra graphic settings in beta....(or any setttings higher than 'High' anyways...
Also i was playing SWTOR on high everything setting....running @ an average of 140 FPS. on 1920 x 1080 res...
Intel Core i7 930 (2.80ghz)
Ram 6GB

I had little to no problems. I could tell at some times that there were way to many people on the game and was getting sluggish, but i would relog and be fine. You should look at upgrading your memory 2gb is pretty low, make sure you have a 64 bit OS though or your computer wont regonize it anyways. Im thinking about buying another 6GB so i can fill up the last 3 spots i have. Connection might help as well. i just upgraded to fios and getting amazing speeds usually 3-5MBS.
Max Settings, no issues at all.

maxed out beta settings ran perfect.
Remember Old School Ultima Online
ran pretty good on mine, infact, it ran better than i expected. So, I was pleasently suprised.
i7 Quad core 2.93
4G ram
Radeon HD 5750 1g VRAM
Playing on 1920 X1080 res.
I play at Medium/High settings.. basically 1920x1080 res with a couple things lowered.. But I play on an Asus Laptop, so I'm really happy with the performance. My framerate was great at about 60-85 fps or higher and was very stable in the beta sessions I participated in .
My GPU is a GTX 460m Cuda 1.5GB
Core i7, windows 7/ -64bit
Considering I only have a 3.8 P4 CPU it ran great on max settings. But the game is only a cartoon. But I do have 4 gigs of memory, running windows xp.
Pointless to get 6 more GB, no game runs more than 4gb at a time.. SWTOR is maxed at 2gb, though it runs higher over time due to a memory leak bug. Technically the game should run perfectly fine at 2gb with no difference between that and 4gb. However the leak issue makes having 4gb much more desirable(of course that also obviously depends on what you have running in the backrgound, most gamers will only have said game running unless their PC is full of malware).
I have a GTX 260 / 4gb RAM / Tri-core 3.2ghz AMD / Windows 7, was able to run at max settings fine with 90+ FPS at 1680x1050. However it would randomly dip down to under 30 FPS ocasionally over time due to the memory leak. So I rated it max settings, with performance issues(This had nothing do with my setup either, only game I have that does this and monitored it).

Rand everything in Beta maxed out as far as they would go and I was 60+ FPS at all times. I love my new gaming rig I got from iBuypower.com back in September. My first AMD Processor & Graphics card I've ever owned, I've always been an Intel & Nvidia guy.

I ran it on max perfectly fine. I have a gtx 560 ti and i5 2500k which is probably overkill for the game. I was even able to run it pretty well on a laptop that had an intel duel core processor and a gtx 260m gpu (which is probably the equivalent to a 9800 gt in desktops), tho I had to crank the graphics down a bit. But still playable.
My commodore 64 has no problems runnig it on ultra. Are you serious ??

Well you have teamspeak, Fraps, music, addons, keyboard, mouse, and headset programs running in the background....Some of that can take a damper on your system at times. Of course i need to upgrade my Video card as well but having 12gb isnt going to hurt any either. Its cheap compared to buying a video card at the moment. Dont have 200 to throw down on one, that went towards the CE...lol.
I run on a gateway FX laptop. 17inch 1440x900 res. Ran it on max with 0 issues except when first entering a cantina at primetime. Dual core 2.26 proccessor, 4gig ddr3 ram, gforce 9800m. Though this machine still runs new games at high to max settings on everything currently out I have tried except fear3 and MW3. Both of which I chalk up to poor coding than the graphics requirements. Hell I run skyrim on almost max settings except for shadows with no issues but MW3 says I cant run it at all lol.
i7 2600k
duel gtx 560i
8gb ram
2tb hard drive
24" led moniter
max resolution during beta
fps stayed steady in the 100;s
had no issues with lag that i can remember

1Gbs Connection (faster than 94.7% of US grey aliens)
60" Holographic Multidimensional spherical Monitor
only 240FPS on superultramax settings at 5760x3240 res (with hi-rez hack).
The f****ing game crashed my system 3 times, and only runs in 3 dimensions.
Win 7 prem
i5-2500K OC 4.8 ghz

Max settings I get between 60 and 70 fps in crowded areas and top out at 120+ in non crowded areas. My buddy almost has identical setup but he has a 570 or 580 and gets about 10 more fps.
Very bad, on low.
5yo computer almost hehe.
I'm not going to upgrade until may 2012, maybe I will try the game then again.
