I'm getting a new video card in the new year. It's the only part I carried over from my old rig when I built the new one and I swore I wouldn't upgrade anything in it for a year. Year is nearly up now, so new card and faster (and more) RAM are on the shopping list.
But for now, as long as I turn off shadows, I can run it very smoothly. With shadows it hiccups every now and then.
Smooth on max settings but max settings in SWTOR is at best medium.
Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Win7 x64 GA-990XA-UD3 (F9) AMD x4 975 3,6 GHz 2x4 GB Kingston DDR3 1600 X-Fi Titanium Club3D ATI HD 6950 2 GB - Driver 11.11 (cooler not smooth - i will change as soon as possible) 2x1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3R
Even when all the folk was in the cantina at the end of the Beta-Weekend it was very smooth after the initial loading of all data, despite all the lightshow and emoting going on.
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"
As other posters have mentioned, this thread is kinda moot since the beta's had alot of the options turned off and I would imgagine some debugging apps still running.
Your better off waiting for the actual release build before asking a question like this since no one can answer you as to how the final build will run come Dec 15th.
Its possible (although doubtful) that the final build will be horrible at max settings and poorly optomized, its also possible that it will run awesome once the debugging tools are removed and the final options are in. No one can really know at this point (Except the in-house team) so I'd just wait for now.
As long as you meet the spec's *on-the-box* you should be fine. After all its a DX9 game atm (God I hope they upgrade to DX11 soon!) so there really should'ent be any issues unless your PC is 3-4 years old.

This thread seems perfectly fine to me, since we're comparing beta performance to beta performance :P
If the thread was "How well will your rig perform come release" then it might be a different story
Both ran on high settings the first setup shadows off,but both were smooth as silk.
I have a q6700 - 4 mb ram - win 64
nvidia 8800gtx at 1920 x 1200 27"
Everything was on low.
i couldnt even change the setting as it was greyed out and stuck on low.
Mind you I thought it looked really good for low settings.
Ya the big difference between my first setup and yours is the graphics a 5850 is miles ahead of a 8800gtx.upgrade your card and you will see a major difference.(fist setup win7-32,4g ddr2)
The following statement is false The previous statement is true

Yeh I thought it might be the card.
I'm gonna wait until the next set of graphics cards are out (hoping it will drop price of the rest of the range). May even upgrade to i5 system.
Beta weekend starting 25/11 I was on high settings.
Beta weekend starting 2/12 it was forced to high then forced to low after the maintenance on Saturday, no option to change video settings.
I had vsync ticked so I never saw greater than 65 fps but I also never dropped below 35 fps at any time over the two weekends.
PC is getting on in years now. Bought it in 2006:
AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ @ 2.21GHz
XP Pro 32 bit, SP 3
Nvidia GT9800 512k
3Gb RAM (4 Gb in the PC but 32 bit XP can only address 3Gb)
Game ran fine for me, saw no problems at all once I had Vsync checked. Was a bit jerky without it and I had some screen tear but once I checked Vsync all was well. Good news for anyone running older hardware.
I had little to no problems. I could tell at some times that there were way to many people on the game and was getting sluggish, but i would relog and be fine. You should look at upgrading your memory 2gb is pretty low, make sure you have a 64 bit OS though or your computer wont regonize it anyways. Im thinking about buying another 6GB so i can fill up the last 3 spots i have. Connection might help as well. i just upgraded to fios and getting amazing speeds usually 3-5MBS.
Just to be clear, a 32-bit OS will handle 4G of ram (well actually 3.2'ish is usable Ram) just fine. If you go past 4G you want a 64-bit OS that will use upto 16G of ram.
So if you just wanted to up your ram by a couple of Gig your current OS would be fine.
Its well worth getting the 64-bit OS upgrade though, I went from Win-XP straight to Win7 (Win xp is the lowest upgrade path) and its a world of difference. Vista is a turd and should be avoided at all costs.

The thread title is *How well does SWTOR run on your rig"
The Answer is = I dont know its not released yet.
You'll see there is no quantifier in his post (Ie "How well did (<-- past tense b/c beta is closed now) SWTOR beta run on your rig?")
Pedantic I know, but I'm answering his question as best I can

In Bootcamp it ran great during Beta. Will be following many of the tips seen on variuos fansites to improve the overall appearance though. BT Infinity at about 37Mbps
Ran perfect on high settings on an Imac5 running bootcamp. Had to download a cooling fan app due to the imac getting very very hot after an hour of playing.
How well do you guys think ill be able to run it? I cant test my system on canurunit yet cuz i have a mac and havent yet gotten my windows install disc. But here's my specs:
Comments
i7 2.8 (stock speed, not o/ced)
8 gb RAM (1333hz DDR3)
Nvidia GeForce GT 240 (Golden Sample 1gb) -> spot the bottleneck
HP w2216 24" monitor @ 1680x1050
Cable internet (zoomtastic)

The game runs so-and-so. At crowded areas i get under 30fps and its stutters.
But it averages "good"

"The Heavens burned, the stars
cried out
And under the ashes of infinity,
Hope, scarred and bleeding,

It runs well. I only have a 4870, so If I run things at max/high, I have to turn the shadows off, or at least I really should.
Phenom 2 x4 @ 3.0
8gb ddr2 pc6400
win 7 64bit
I only have a 1680 x 1050 monitor though.
I had to run SWTOR on the lowest settings possible in order to get a decent framerate. Somewhat disappointed.

That is wierd.
We have more or less the same system, but mine was all maxed out - granted i was getting smooth FPS always (crowded areas).
But low?
There is something wrong with the optimazation of the game, will have to wait and see how the end product acts like.

Maxed out everything. Though "maximum settings" for this kind of graphics in a game isn't much.
Got around 80 to 110 FPS usually.
This is at 5120 x 1600 resolution. Not some low 1080p.
Ran on 2 computers
q6600-1920x1200 27"-5850
qx9650-1920x1080 32"-590
