I just started this game again last night, and let me just say with graphics turned to full on 1280x1024 the game looks fantastic!
The game started me on Odin server, how would I go about changing servers or how do I even pick what server to go on? Seemed very unfair that they would start me on a random one, although so far Odin has TONS of people and I even found a couple english speakin people that were very helpful!
Anyone else on Odin server from around here? Loving FFXI so far lots

Coming from Remora, here. In order to create a character on a world of your choosing, you must have a *WorldPass* for that world. A character may buy a WorldPass for his world by going to the WorldPass NPC vendor (there is one in each starter city--in fact, I don't think there's one in Jeuno) and purchasing one. The price varies, increasing if the server is crowded, but is generally around 1000 gil. The player gets a WorldPass code. Anyone creating a character who knows that code can use it to create a character on that world. The WorldPass code is good for five character creations and expires an Earth week after it is purchased. Note that the WorldPass for a world can only be purchased on that world--you could only buy a WorldPass to allow people to create a character on Odin, for instance, since your character is on Odin. In order to get a WorldPass for another world, you would need to contact a player already on that world and convince them to buy a WorldPass to that world for you.
And glad to hear you're having fun with FFXI!

Wow thanks Chris, helpful as usual. And yeah, I'm a Final Fantasy fan hardcore from back in the day. I've played them and finished them all, even mystic quest . There's just something about Final Fantasy for me, can't wait to find Cid as I heard he is a blacksmith in one of the towns . I love the song when you level up, it's the same as from the console games. It just does that initial fanfare of the song, and then the funny thing is I get the whole rest of the song (which isn't in FFXI) in my head and I'm happily humming it as I play lol funny that I can remember the whole song. It's the same fight win song as FFIII, the best RPG of all time.
I guess I'll stick to Odin, as it is a bustling server with lots of helpful people.
Don't want to ruin the search for Cid for you, but I heard he might be in Bastok. You might want to check it out.

"Blacksmith", hell, he runs just about all the big engineering projects in Bastok! Just go up to the second floor of the Metalworks and you can have him tell you he's too busy to talk to you :-).
Glad to hear you're fitting in well in your server.

In fact, he's just givem me a nice one too. But you have to get a fair amount of Bastok fame before he'll do that...
