I first started playing mmorpgs with EQ2 (got on one month after released and played for 5-6 months about 4-6 hours a day) then switched to MXO (played 3 months about 4-6 hours a day as well, but the last month not so much..buggy) and dabbled in SWG (first free month). My problem is I think I'm losing faith in mmorpgs and need to find a game that wont bore me. I thought I found the jackpot with EQ2, but lack a people to play with (even had a guild of about 70 members), and MXO was great for a while until it became more buggy. Went through faction splits 3 times but I loved my fellow players. What I need is what every mmorpg-playing person needs. Ive looked up and down the game list and dont seem satisfied, is there something I'm missing. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear your opinions. Maybe a few comments about SOE's STATION PASS (since I have three of their games) would sway me one way or another.

Well...I would say Roma Victor but I know that if I do a bunch of.....hmmmm.....people will say "You cant say that its not out yet" but I know that it will be one of the best mmorpgs out there. If not that than play Daoc
No players in EQ2? Where do the 250,000+ subscribers hide? I'd like to know, I don't play myself.
And what are you looking for? Fantasy, sci-fi? Heavy PvP, little or no PvP? Just sort the game list by rating, check out the games with free trials, and unless you're tastes are in the minority you'll probably end up satisfied with one of them. You're question is kind of generic.
Well, if you are even thinking about the Station Access plan I say go for it. Regardless of what ANYONE says negative about SOE, that is a great deal when it comes to what you get for your money. I have Planetside, EQ2, and SWG myself ( I am only not playing right now just because I am involved in so many beta tests that I wanted to be fair to the companies that offered me testing slots by focusing on those ). With them adding Matrix Online to the Station Access plan in the next couple months you can't beat 4 decent sized MMOs for $22/mos. $5.50/mos for each game is a steal. Not to mention I found myself playing these games longer than I normally do an MMO ( usually 4-5 months before I am totally burned out ) because I can always change pace by focusing on another game in the list. One month I focus more on EQ2, then I swing over and play SWG for a different. All the while using Planetside to quench my thirst for faster paced, quicker action.
I totally feel you with the feeling you have about being bored so quickly with MMOs. I think it's mainly because of the "Cookie Cutter Syndrome" that's going on. Everyone is just making a few twists on each others game and packaging it as something new. Now, I am beta testing a few games which are breaking the mold on a couple things ( names excluded because I do like to follow the NDAs ). So there is some hope in the future.
For now though, the Station Access plan is a pretty good deal to go with if you even slightly enjoy the games on the list. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait a bit for a few of the "next big things" to come out.
"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."
Planetside and EVE Online are both extremely good games and both get away from the boring bullshit that is grinding. There is no killing a million mobs to reach level 50. That's my recommendation, but I have no clue what you want or are looking for.
Yes I should have been more specific about what genre of game I like more than the others. If I had to sum it up...non PVP, big community, with many character classes. As for sci-fi or what-not, Im not concerned just as long as its fun and not "grinding" because that seems to be the case in leveling. I'd rather have fun than worry about leveling, but leveling is nice too. My dream game would have to be a war type game where its sort of PVP in a way, because I like flying (spaceships, planes) and also like FPS. If someone could wrap that up into a huge WORLD WAR type scenario with factions/guilds as countries that would be good for me.
yes, one word, Plentside
it is a GIANT Fps, the size of most MMORPG's with a nice leveling and Exp system, no Grinding at all, a nice Skill system, and MASSIVE battles of houndreds of ppl. However its a bit laggy no matter what system you have.
Well Kithicor was populated enough. The only time I had issue finding groups was when I was running heritage quests mainly because those were pretty specific. Another key thing I left out about the Station Access plan that is a benefit in EQ2 is that you get all the adventure packs for free. Also you get 4 added character slots.
Now, from what you say you way I'd have to say Planetside all the way. I, personally, am not too fond of MMOFPSs only because ANY lag royally kills the gameplay and the technology just isn't there yet for 100% stability ( I'd say 80% stability was even pushing it ). But even I can enjoy Planetside in small amounts. It has everything you were asking for for the most part. Looks pretty decent too with the options maxed out. Downside to PS is starting new can be a bit tricky. You're going to feel like you're being sent out into battle with some sharp sticks and harsh language to attack the enemy who is in a 40 foot tall BFR. Don't let this frustrate you. Just get into a good sqaud and you can start working your way up in certifications fast enough to feel like you are making a difference out in the field. Once you are certified for 1 or 2 vehicles you are good to go. Again, just stick with a good group and you'll be pounding around in a BFR before you know it.
