Im wondering how long it will take when we see the first spam in global chat for buying creds.
I hope they will put something in the game so we can report them instantly and at the same time put them in our ignore list
Comments
i'm sure soon, lol
the last few games to release had gold spams during beta so atleast swtor lasted longer then them.
but, somehting gives me the feeling that BW will crack down more than most games
My friend in Australia was unable to preorder the game b/c they're IP blocked. So, I imagine china is IP Blocked too but most goldfarmers are smart enough to proxy.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Ahem...Creditfarmers.
all they can do is fight the lazy and dumb ones. the smart ones will always get around everything they do , so you spend little effort and get rid of the lazy ones but not invest all your time fighting the smart ones,
at this point in time then i've conditioned myself to block them out like that screaming kid on the airplane or christmas crowds.
I enjoyed the game best so far with global chat turned off
during my short beta's then i really didnt spend much time looking at general chat. spent most of my time in a group but rarely ever noticed general.
I never did ... actually I complained about there being a community ... they kept ruining my story
Honestly, I don't care so hard, It's impossible to express in words. So what is some people want to trade their time for money, and others would like to buy in-game currency instead of wasting their time? It's not even a competitive game, what should I care if a guy playing nearby has bought Awesome Armor of Awesomness from some crafter on level 6 for $20? As a crafter, I even say "go for it!" It will not destroy the economy, it will not kill a honest living of miners (no miners here), it will do nothing.
As for PvP, people who like to PvP will get their own Awesome Armor of Awesomeness through PvP soon enough not to be bothered by someone paying $50 to get it.
This. Nowadays people tend join one guild, then move from game to game with the guild so the need to find groups or guild dies out. Most of the convo happens in ventrilo or teamspeak anyways. And we all know the content in global chats is usually meaningless rable. Yet it stilI lives on, for the sake of PUGs.
Even though some people complain about the UI, I'm still glad you can turn off the chat. It's not always possible in every mmorpg.
Let me guess, you are expecting something innovative and revolutionary in their solution................
Bioware will spend as little resources as needed to combat this problem.

well, is not a korean MMO, u cant grind and just kill mobs for credits without a companion, and to do that, you need to play all ur personal history to unlock ur companions. And still you earn almost nothing killing mobs or farming, thats not how you will make money in swtor. Your credits come mostly for warzones and quests, then crafting, i mean ur earn a lot of money doing pvp in swtor. goldfarmers in swtor?, dont gonna happen, why? because you cant grind in swtor and you are just useless in pve without a companion, and like i said, you earn almost nothing killing mobs.
Credits don't drop from your kills so grinding mobs for credits is not possible. Unless gold farmers come up with some other alternative.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
If there is a demand there will always be someone willing to be the supplier. Supply and demand do we teach that in school anymore?
The gaming company can only hope to try and contain it for the vocal minority who feels this is somehow interfering with the gaming experience.
Personally if you can turn a profit off virtual currency or items I say more power to you.
Why so negative?
Many game companies have taken a very aggressive stance on Gold Farmers, lets hope Bioware does too.
(For instance FFXI created a team JUST to combat gold sellers)
Game makers realize that gold sellers ruin their games, they try to prevent their activities
Well all the best gear that you need in swtor come from ¨tokens¨ and quests, not credits, even at low level. there wont be an high demand of credits in the game.
Why even fight them? Know matter what any games does there will be people/players selling game money.. The DEVs should sell it them selves... Gold farmers in most games are a good thing. Alot of people don't even play certain games if they can't spend real money in the game.. i don't see anything wrong with it.. Every player is spending money on the game every month any way...
I think I only bought game money twice in the past 12yrs.. First time was in Eve Online and Second was in Wow I think.. I still have both accounts...
I see it like this the game developers loose money when they kick players from the games. Mainly paying players. This is the main reason why alot of games do not even kick players for buying gold. The gold sellers them selves have to fork over the monthly payment to get into the game if there isn't a trial.
Have you notice in alot of games when your on one charactor then you make a new charactor or log onto another charactor a few weeks later that same gold spammer is still there, lol... There not going no where..
One way to keep the gold spammers to a minimum is to not have any trials and to make it where players them selves can make a desent amount of money in game them selves.. So many games like to make items super hard to get. Thats what pushing some players to go and buy game money.. Thats what ended up making me buy gold 10yrs ago... I haven't had any reason to buy game money in these few years or so.. I think its mainly because most games now have ways for players to make alot of money in game.. I also jump around to different new games...
the game just need a word filter ... when a sentance has the word www.**** or ''sell creds'' e.t.c. the game will auto ignore them and not shown in your window or recieve the mail
report? ok the cred sellers never use their subded accounts to yell that they sell creds, they use their trials.
ban IP? 80% of players world wide use dynamic IP
block a full country? cred sellers are from all countries, not to mention that they will block and the decent players that really want to enjoy the game
there is not way to fight +win the cred sellers
Lets just hope you are right...
Blaster bolts to the knee for the lot of them.
Bioware should take EVE's approach to it.. seems to have shut down the farmers there
The only way I can see Bioware fighting gold farmers is rewarding players with social points for reporting gold spammers or those who whisper them with offers. An incentive to get the players to police their own servers and if more than 50 complaints come in about the same name then all those players who complained would get a few social points.
Could be abused by SUPER large silly guilds with children in but if people abuse it then those who did should be banned from social things like guilds for a month or something.... MWU HAHAHAHA
I think they'll be clever in tackling the issue though...
I would to see gold spamers/farmers when causght to flag that account and all its chars as open PVP and give a little reward to the char that kills them the most .Oh and add a cool little anim of there head roling in the mud so we cand jump up and down on it
Can't they do what EVE does, and if its found a player bought credits, just tack on a negative sign to the front of it and watch the player squirm while they try to reach the goal of having zero credits?
