Is there any way to try the game?

TROLL_HARDTROLL_HARD Member Posts: 312

I haven't played since about 2 weeks after launch but I was reading the forums and it looks like things have been improving in several ways since TC. The forums look way better than they have in the past.

Problem is that I wasn't able to get into the 5 free day thing before Dec 1. I want to know if I can access the 14-day free trial with my old account or if I have to roll a new trial account for the 14-day trial. I just want to know before I download the client.

Does anyone know?

And how his the client patcher working these days? How long will it take me to download the ~9GB? I have a fast connection.

May want to wait until they fix the bugs in TC but if you still want to try it now I am pretty sure you would have to do a new account for the 14 day free trial. This is also one of the few instances where I would recomend MMORPG over the Official forums. The mods over there tend to try and delete or burry threads discussing current and old issues.

You can download the patches fairly quickly now.  It's not like at launch were it took hours to download the client.  As long as you have a decent internet provider you'll probably max your download speed out.

Yes there is a free trial here's the link

Don't let the haters fool you.  Try the free trial and see for yourself how much Mortal online has improved since launch.

You'll have to reroll with a new account for the trial.

Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!

This is the kind of stuff you have to watch out for. My advice was to maybe wait until the bugs got ironed out with this new patch since you seemed to be relying on it to bring you back into the game which of course gets turned into "Haters trying to fool you".

If you're relying on TC to bring you back to MO it would be better to let the patch see just a tad bit more polish before jumping in it seems though that many fans are just trying to get the numbers up asap for some reason or another ignoring long term ramifications for some sort of short term gain.

I do recomend you try the free trial, I was simply advising you to wait for a little more polish since you seem to be putting a lot of stock in the TC patch.

On the plus side the above user highlighted why I suggested these forums rather than the official ones. The official ones are full of the above kind of posts while the rest get deleted or burried. You'll get a much more balanced and realistic view of whats going on over here since the moderation is far more reasonable.

I had two guys that didn´t wanna touch MO with a ten feet pole after them trying out the BETA. I had to fight for them to at least try the free trial. They both subbed after one day, and after that I had 3 more guys signing in after trying it only for 1-2 days. It´s like night and day compared to how it was in BETA and launch. It´s still has some bugs etc, but it´s very playable. No doubt about it...

Me and a Guild of 20 tried out MO about a week ago and every one of us found the game a bit better than it was in beta but all decided against playing because it's just not there yet. MO's issues are many fold and no it's not night and day from beta it's a little better ..... sadly I know because I gave it another go. Was my mistake, but live and learn.

I mean sure you can say what you want to those that haven't played since then but don't try it with me please. I won't trash or praise a game if I don't actually have personal experience to pull from.

I'll put it this way..... the pvp scene is so lacking we gave MO another go, after playing MO again we began the debate on if we should go to TOR or not and this is a group of sandbox pvp'rs that have been together since UO lol.

How strange the world spins then. Since all of "my" guys liked it. Feel free to talk to them ingame if you get the chance so you know I´m not Bullshitting. Their ingame names are Estagon, Kaftraktor, Watery, Eloria and Koga. Can prolly even see that those characters are new. Every1 except Koga, that is a old account of mine that a friend took over. Since I didn´t have it activated. I had 3 before, now 2. And we were all actually going to play SWTOR, but after me convincing them to try MO they have all cancelled their preorders, while I have mine CE in the post office atm. Will prolly pick it up just to sell and earn me a few bucks and continue with MO. So, for some of us, that were in MO BETA and there after release, and that tried the game out now, weve noticed a HUGE difference. While others, like you and all your 20 friends, didn´t.

Well, what can I say.. some people are desperate for anything that resemble a sandbox and as result lower their standards. Maybe that's the case with some of MO players?

Well, what can I say.. Some peeps don´t have anything better to do then backtalk a game they don´t even play. And you can say alot of things about MO. It´s buggy, have had a really rough start with missing discs, and promises that were broken due to different circumstances etc. But it´s also a quite unique game in the MMO genre. Theres nothing like it out there. For some that´s good, even quite wonderfull, and they can look past the bugs and glitches, cause they like the core game. But for a few people on this site mostly, it´s the worst crap ever. So don´t try to put words into my mouth, or any1 that likes it about lowering our standards. I´ve played MMOs for over 15 years, and have played EVE, DF, Earthrise, WoW, Vanguard, Lotro, Star Trek Online, Ryzoom, EQ 1&2, Ultima Online, DAOC, Matrix Online and prolly some that I 4get now. But there a few games that has had my heart rushing as much as it does in PVP in MO, or trying to get stuff from one to another etc. The feeling of being there, in that world, through the FPW is fantastic. But I do get those that come from themepark games, and expect to get some handholding etc, and that don´t know where to look for info about how to get through the rough start. They will most likely end up hating it. While some that dig deeper and gets past the learning curve, will maybe love it. So to say that you need to lower your standards to like MO couldn´t be more wrong. Some like coffee, some don´t. But I don´t go and yell at people that drink coffee and say "How can you drink that crap!?!?", every time I see some1 drinking coffee. Every1 gets to taste and make up their own mind.

You asked if there was a way to try the game. Yes there is. Here is the link: https://account.mortalonline.com/

Don't listen to anyone else, just try it and see for yourself if you like it or not. Obviously people's opinions differ wildly.

I reccomend doing the free trial.  Do 2 or 3 of them if you want.  you can make as many free trials as you can make emails.  People in game do it frequently.

The 5 free days was actually 4 free days because the game was shut down for a day to fix yet again another dupe.  Also I think it was bad timing on SV's part.  They did the free days right when the TC patch released.  And if anyone knows what an SV patch is like then you know they should of waited atleast 2-3 fix patches before the 5 free days.  Also they really did not advert it.  I hope they do another 5 free days and properly advert it after the TC is fixed.  Then maybe you can get a feel with your old toons.

Thanks for input, guys. I've downloaded the game and set up a free trial account. I'm still reading the forums though. I can't believe how much complexity there is (in a good way). There wasn't any "hunger" dynamic, for example, the last time I played. I need to put some more thought into making a character than I had thought.

    Anyway, thanks again.
