The Future and so on

Do you think this game will ultimately force a player into multiclassing due the limiting nature of only 20 levels?  Thereby making the ultimate goal of a player not to become the best Fighter or mage but become the most experienced in all the class you can have by race?  Just curious about how others see the big picture of this game.  I am by no means an authority on D&D, especially not 3.5 rules.  I want to hear from those who are and what they see in the future.

Recently the devs have stated that as the game is limited to 20 levels, they were conferencing with WotC to implement a meaningfull leveling system that would permit reasonable aproach to leveling, wihtout reaching the level cap too early.

My main hope for the game at launch to promote class diversity was prestige classes, wich now the devs have come out saying that they will not be included on release, neither would monks or druids, hmm lets see, no prestige classes, and the 2 most complex an rewarding classes in the game will no t be included at launch... ::::12::

My hope for the game is that it manages to pull multiclassing off.

I doubt it. Remember, if you multiclass you won't get 20 levels of each class. Say you're a fighter/thief. You could be a 10 Fighter/10 Thief but not am 11 Fighter/10 Thief. In all actuality a 20 Fighter could (should) dispatch a 10 Fighter/10 Thief fairly easily. It also depends on feats chosen, etc. A 10 Fighter just can't match a 20 Fighter's feats.

I'm pretty sure I remember it the way that robartle states it. It is 20 character levels not 20 class levels. So you could be 5/5/5/5, 10/10, or 20, etc, but not more than 20 total levels per character.

You are correct the max level is 20. When Multiclassing you should think which class would be better for your character, with this you definitly need some knowledge of D&D lets say you want to be a strong fighter/wizard well you could put 5 lvl in fighter. then 15 levels in Wizard. Which equals to 20

    Multiclass

    5+10=20
