Why do people even bother with boxed copies anymore? >.>
This one is beyond me. You can't hardly even find PC games in retail stores anymore, since most games are easily found on the internet these days. When I saw people getting outraged because their boxed copy wouldn't make it before launch, I was literally facepalming at them.
Admittedly I did buy the CE edition; but, that also includes digital download. I was sure not to royally screw myself over like a nubcake, who's never been a part of an MMO launch before.

Some countries had no choice but to order box copies. Others dont have good enough internet speeds to download almost 20 gigs in a reasonable amount of time. Some people figure if the digital and box copies are both the same price then why not have the physical copy. In that regard digital purchases rip you off for a couple bucks.
All that said if they start selling windows on a flash drive I'll never have another CD player in my computers again.

Because some of us like to collect physical copies of the games? it is just like having a library of books or your favorite music/movies.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6. US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian. Subs will be so low there is no need for more Snoocky-How many servers? The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
I just hope they allow Amazon to be able to send out a day or 2 earlier. Right now with 1 day shipping I wont get it until the 22nd. They just need to shave off 2 days then I will be set to roll right into launch play from my early game play.
While many people revile EA, at least THEY have come right out and flat out stated publically that THEY are not blocking Amazon or any other NA retailer from shipping so that people have the game in time for release.
Amazon continues the blather that 'they don't have permission' to release, they have also stated they don't get inventory until the 17th (a load of hooey)
Got my copy of the game in the mail yesterday. With it it was a new code. I guess my early access code had to be replaced with the code i got with the game DvD's during the early access period?
Now im just waiting for the mail that tells me when i get to log in.....
How could you get in the mail? The game's not even out yet. You mean e-mail?
Game has shipped in some countries.
The game is not in stores until the 20th
Some stores have it on the shelves already. Friend of mine went down and got the box from his local games store. He doesn't have a credit card so he couldn't order it at an online store.

I just prefer to have a copy of the game at hand and it looks good in the bookshelve with the other Star Wars games i own. Of course i got the game allready on my hard-drive after downloading it for the weekend beta. And it is the launch version of the game. Also i live in two houses. My house and my GF's house. So I needed the boxed copies so i can install the game on my other computers.
Dont know how many pre-ordered the game in the scandinavian countries, but i bet its a lot less than in the US. For petes sake there is not much more people living in Norway than there is in major US city suburb lol. So logistically its pretty easy over here i guess.
Hauken Stormchaser I want pre-CU back Station.com : We got your game Yeah?, Well i want it back!!!

Some stores have it, and some have already shipped to customers. It doesnt really matter if the retail physical copy gets to customers as your account will not be turned on until the specified time EA/Bioware has determined based on the registration of your preorder game or retail key.
The people I know who buy boxes are the people with shitty internet connections. I connect at 25 mps, so DLing it is a snap. Got a buddy who is stuck on DSL...takes FOREVER. So he ordered the box, which will still require a big patch I am sure. Also, he did not preorder befor launch so he isnt worried about a pre order code.
some people I know already got the CE boxes and sold them on EBAY for a lot more money then they are worth. Apparently publishers realize it doesn't really matter if you have it early. The servers come online when they come online.
I saw a thread like this except it involved a person saying they cancelled their order, and everyone told him to STFU because these forums aren't facebook. Will it happen to this thread?
