Empire vs. Republic pvp guild statistics...

Impulse47Impulse47 Member UncommonPosts: 159

From the guild directory on swtor.com...

Total guilds -

Republic: 33926 (42.90%)

Empire: 45159 (57.10%)

PvP-centric guilds on PvP servers -

Republic: 2435 (32.97%)

Empire: 4950 (67.03%)

Seems like Empire is going to be the l33t d00d side if the equation here.  I have to admit I was leaning towards Empire at first, but it seems like they will be waiting in some long ass pvp arena queues for the Republic players they outnumber 2 to 1.  Guess I'm rolling Republic.

While I'm not 100% shocked by those numbers I guess the disparity is a little alarming.  I wonder how the unguilded masses will change that equation.

probably skew it towards republic a little more. The polls on swtor were pretty even. But not everyoen joined or made a guild in tor so the guidl and player disparity will probably even out in game.

WEll it could go both ways obviously.

But I think some servers will be heavly empire on PVP since they might fear they cant get anything done in the open world when they keep getting killed every 30 seconds and wont have the numbers to do anything about the greifers.

I'm rolling Empire at first just because from my limited experience in weekend testing, the Empire storyline just seems more interesting and compelling.

Kinda like Aliiance and Horde had been in WoW. Allaince out numbered Horde most of the time until they added blood elves. Waiting in a que was fast as horde.  Looks like Republic will be the way to go.

The only thing that worries me is what will happen when the players that did not pre order start rolling into the game after the 20th.

I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

Happens in every game with PvP..

It will balance out..people will quit..people will move to servers with more population..people will join the "less popualr faction" especially on open world PvP servers.

Always happens..simply put its no fun playing a pvp game(eps open world) where there is only 1 in 10 people at any given time to attack. Every game with factions of some kind has had this occur.

"evil" is always more popular at first...besides your counting guilds already formed.....I'd say easily the majority of players either do not have guilds or will not form them unitl the game gets going.

bla bla bla IOW don't worry about it lol

I love it I can't wait to be the underdog, this is proof that more kids & a-holes will be playing the Sith and mainly because of how most people tend to think now days, most people like to win at any cost, also so many ex-good guy faction players of past games want to make sure they are on the aka skilled faction, more kids and fotm players aswell.

In the past more of the PvP minded players rolled the aka bad ass faction due to the psychological impact of looking evil but that trend is now back firing because now everyone and there mother wants to rolling the aka bad ass faction due to the image that only the skilled roll the anti-hero and the mindset that the good faction goodie two shoes are all noobs.

Sith will be the new WoW alliance in Swtor even being out numbered because alot of the skilled PvPers now cought wind of this trend and are rolling Republic. My prediction is Sith will win in PvP  by server zerging the Republic faction but on a 1v1 or on a even playing field they are going to get owned hard core in Swtor.

After a few months players will then reroll back to the Republic for the same reason they left or pay for a faction change if they ever add that. (GOD I HOPE NOT)

There have been quite a few polls on the beta board that confirm a stronger Empire following, the two main reasons were and I quote "we get to have sex" and "we get to murder people" so yaaaaa.

I'm sure quality people and guilds will play both sides, but ya it might get old standing next to a charcter named DarthWTFiPwnU that jumps up and down constantly like a bored crack baby.

Hope you like Huttball if you're playing Empire.

The Light force is calling you Jedi lol, I saw this coming a mile away this is the main reason we are staying Reppublic, not only that i'm not a fan of long Q times, Huttball being the only acception because you can face your own faction.

I think this will be the first mmo where I have 2 legit main chars.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

While the number of guilds registered per faction prior to launch doesn't neccessarily mean there will be more players overall for that faction, I have a feeling the Empire will be overpopulated nonetheless.

I've been considering playing an Imperial Agent ever since they announced the classes.

I suppose I could just play a Jedi Knight or Smuggler instead, being an evil asshole who kills everyone and sacrifices everything in the name of the Empire might get old after a while.

Lol, you can play a Dark Jedi, just as evil just not part of the Sith faction and - the force lighting but hey at least we will get to throw engine blocks at peoples heads not thats got to hurt..  :  )

These things usually don't balance out. Even when a game gives the underpopulated side a huge advantage to draw players there, it still doesn't shift much from the initial balance.

I think it was easy to predict this.

Just means faster queues and less crowding on the Republic side. Usually there will be some hard core PvP guilds that understand the advantages of being on the less populated side and they tend to make up for some of the lack of raw numbers.

It shouldn't have too big of an impact for Republic players, but expecting that the levels will balance out isn't supported by previous MMO factional experiences.

I wonder where you get the "pvp centric" numbers from. Those guilds are about a tenth (or less) of the total guilds numbers and I suppose there are much more guilds than a tenth of all rolling on pvp servers?

I get the "pvp centric" numbers from the guild database.  If you would take a look you might see it is one of the filters.

I'd choose a guild of 50 good players over a guild of 200 noob players anyday.

  • GorillaGorilla Member UncommonPosts: 2,235

Had a feeling I might have to go republic. Oh well it wasn't the first choice but what the hell.
