Help, I need a new MMO

TrillistarTrillistar Member UncommonPosts: 14

I'm trying to find a new MMO to get into at the start, so obviously somethign still in dev stages or beta.

I prefer the sword and sorcery types, Warcraft was great but it just desn't cut it anymore, EQ and Baldur's gate were ok, even Guild Wars tho I didn't liek everythign instanced.

Progressive MMO frpg soon to be going live with open beta slots woudl be ideal. I just cancelled my SWTOR CE when afte rmonths of sitting on a preorder and beta testing I had to sit by and watch others I know who ordered after me level up to 30 and above with no competition on empty servers. Thats kind of not my idea of getting in at the start. First day access is a must, I have no interest in ever stating a game late again.

Sci-fi mmo woudl work if a degreee of psionics or esper type abilities, its just a flavor that I prefer.

While I prefer a single cost its kind of expected any decent progressive will have a monthly sub.

Any suggestions? I am just now starting to dig through things again and would appreciate any idea to save the time.

I would try lineage ll. It just because free to play, the levling is alot faster. I got from 1-50 in a week and im not hardcore. There is a ton of content since the game has been out for years. A downside is its a point and click move game. From what i see the cash shop is not needed, you get free items ever 10 levels or so, they even give you a full set of +4 armor and weapons at level 40.

2 new us servers just opened this month so you wont be the only noob. Servers are so full that it is sometimes hard to get kills for quests, but I personally like seeing a bunch of people running around .

just an option so if your bored and cant find anything else give it a shot.

Nothing you won't have to wait for. Closed Beta GW2 will be starting this month (which will be small, and getting in would probably be like winning a lottery), and it may or may not be a long time afterward for OB/Release depending on how it goes (their own words).

TERA is accepting Beta applications if I remember correctly, though this and the above are more fantasy oriented. GW2 has steam-punk elements but I still don't think it will satisfy any sci-fi urges you may have. Might still be good to keep an eye on it since you mentioned you don't prefer monthly payments.

Wildstar is more sci-fi, and is accepting Beta applications. I just got an e-mail from them stating they were releasing the beta info very soon, as I signed up as well.

The Secret World might be up your alley, but my understanding is it's very difficult to get into that Beta. Last I heard it wasn't slated for release until mid-to-late 2012.

Hmm...there's a lot of new MMO's coming but few that are sci-fi and even fewer that are debuting anytime soon. It's something a lot of us are trying to deal with, unfortunately. Next year is going to be a bit more busy, with the games above listed either releasing or beta-ing, plus a slew of higher quality F2P games like Cabal 2, Yulgang 2, etc. So really...the most you can do is sit tight, at the moment.

Thanks for replies, some I have looked at, some I will be checkign out rigth afte rthis reply.

First, let me clarify, FRPG- fantasy role play is my preferred game style by far, fireball>machine gun any day.

Waiting is fine, as long as I am getting in at entry with a clean slate liek everyone else.

Click to move...nto so good, warcraft, swtor, and eq styles what I prefer 3rd person 3d perspective.

GW2 I looked at some and it shows promise but it seems a lot at the start is derivative on you GW1 gaming. I gave up GW when nightfall made it impossible to move your older characters into the newer realms solo, this rigth after penalizing the CE buyers in Factions by denying them access for several days on release due to an error on the developers side. I don' tcare to start late on a game.

Tera looks phenominal, but its an adaptation of the Korean game that has been live for mor ethan 2 years. The claim is that these will be US only servers and players familiar with the content won't be playing. The actual forum content begs to differ. I want a new game which they present it as, but the facts don't wash. Still an amazing game that those who don't want in at groudn level will be happy with. THat and they continue to push back the date on it.

I will check out Wildstar and The Secret World though, thanks for suggesting. Sci-fi works but will continue digging for magic.

I'm waiting for Tera but I'm nobodies fool. Power grinders will blow me away, they always do. I'll level my chars on my own schedule and enjoy the ride. When the first expansion comes out and the level cap goes up everything before it is obselete by default. It's the pattern in every level based game.

Well Wildstar looks good to me so far, a mix of Sci-fi and psionic type abilities, signed up for the beta, wish me luck.

The Secret World just didn't nab me tho:(

Tera still looking great it's justthatI am one of those power levelers with a lot of free time who hates seeing a lto of bots come in and get in the way of real players. And I don't see how that is going to be avoided by adapting known content to a new clientelle.

Even the anti-goldfarming methods they have setup look to me mor eliek encouragement to farmers than discouragement, thats my view from having spent time on the farmer side of it.
