There is a new game on the horizon that looks to fill a gap in the current MMORPG's. It is called Dark Solstice and unlike most of the new entries, it is room based and not 3D. And to my delight, it has some of the best looking art I've seen since the days of the Sierra solo games. It is refreshing and from the information released so far on their message boards, it will be a delight to play. I have heard that they have soundtracks to match the art. See for yourself at

yep looks like a good game, everyone should go to the site and check it out, definatley a plus. Also the developers actually listen to what people have to say instead of just doing what they want, they are always up for new ideas and suggestions on what to change or add to the game next. All gamers should check this game out.
I happen to be a big fan of 2.5D games. I think we need more like this.
I agree. I am really tired of the 3D look. Every game even though they use different graphic engines rely on bright and colorful effects which are no more than splashes of color. It is nice to see original art. I will watch this one with interest.
I heard about this game from a friend so I went to their message boards to look around. So far it sounds like a game I will enjoy playing. I have filled out the Beta form and hope I am accepted.
I agree with many above about the art. It looks like a fantasy world and isn't that what it's all about.
It's good to see a game not go with the mainstream of today's mmorpg's. I'll be happy to give it a shot.
Has any kind of release date been given or an idea of when beta will start?
A post on their message boards says Beta will be by the end of the year. So I would expect game release to be 1Q06 or there abouts.
Does anyone know if beta is still open? I went to the signup page and it accepted my entry. I wonder if that means I'm accepted. I hope so. This sounds like my kind of game.
The graphics look great. If they do what they promise on their boards, they will really listen to players. If the game has a great community like seems to be building, it will be fun to play.
Sounds almost too good to be true, but I'm hopeful.
I checked out the website and it sounds pretty cool. I also signed up for beta and I hope it starts pretty soon. I kinda like the change from 3D graphics because I really like cartoons.
LOL I LOVE cartoons. This alone is enough to make me try it. I was a big Sierra fan and the graphics remind me of the Quest for Glory series. Now if the game is only as good.
I've been spending some time watching their message boards. If they deliver, I think it will be a hit. I really do like the cartoonish look. It is not the silly kind but rather the look of the old cartoon classics.
Somebody said it reminds them of Dofus. To me, the cartoon like graphics are a world apart. Dofus reminds me of a children's story. Dark Solstice kinds looks like the old Warner Bros or Disney cartoons, a BIG difference.
