Gazillion Entertainment has announced that the MMO formerly known by the working title of Marvel Universe Online has officially been renamed Marvel Heroes. In addition, Gazillion has released new character art featuring the iconic Spiderman.
As I mentioned in the article, I'm curious as to how this will work and whether or not it can even be called an MMO? Having said that, the game still may be enjoyable.
Lack of a character creator will keep this game from having as large an audience as it could.
I agree also. I was interested previous to the news that we would not be able to create our own hero but instantly lost interest, once that became known. I don't like even seeing the "clone look" in other mmos because of limited customizations, how much worse with thousands if not more spideys running around ? With DCUO, CoH, Champions Online, all having this feature, how can they think this will draw much attention? Part of playing a Superhero based mmo is the personalized hero part in the first place.

It's probably going to be a lobby-type game with no persistent world, with no duplicate characters allowed in the missions, so no dupes running around.
One of the most persistent knocks against new games is that they are 'WOW clones'. But every game that challenges the conventions of the genre is written off as rubbish.
I say give Marvel Heroes a chance to surprise. It may very well suck. But it could also provide a whole new way to think of MMORPGs.
While I like CO and DCUO, I still think that this game will have a place. Think in Vindictus or other game that features classes as characters. Given that they don't have to work that hard on customization I would guess that they will be free to do other things more and better but that's is something that Gazillion will have to show.
I just can't forgive this "MMO" for squandering all the potential it had for player-made characters by forcing them into the mold of "iconic" characters.

The character models definitely look good.
