I hope swtor will not go free to play, if it does it will give bad rep about the game and perhaps even fail AAA mmorpg.
All those mmorpg that went free to play failed because they failed to retain those players in a pay to play environment, so those companies had no choice but to go free to play. Those companies have no confidence to pull those subscriptions numbers.
I just hope bioware does not go free to play ever, again it gives a bad rep to bioware. I think steven reid said it in an interview.
Bioware does not believe in free to play model.

i think your safe, from what im seeing WoW is losing players to TOR pretty quickly. however how well it contends with the new Classless style of MMO's comeing out will be up for debate.
in truth i think it will do well enough for the gamers that dont want to change.
Because i can.

Little early in the game (pun intended...) to be talking about a f2p model for SWTOR. Agree though, I'd not like to have it as a free to play game. Not sure why - guess i just like paying $15 a month to blow sh*t up with Death From Above...
Bioware getting a bad rep? They did a pretty good job with Dragon Age 2!
No but seriously this game will get f2p sooner or later. It's almost inevitable.
(Anyway the fact that you must pay for a subscription for the game to stay alive is a big lie)
I hope it doesn't ever go f2p either. I might actually try it if it went f2p and I'm happy enough not letting that happen.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
yeah best way to put it is that its too early to tell. check how the worlds running in febuary. by then you will have a stable AH and anyone who misses WoW will run back to it,

I, too, hope it never goes F2P.
We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.
Imagine though if SWTOR had launched f2p.
They might have had 15-20 million players..... and really challenged wow...
If for example Blizzard's Titan launched f2p it would be the end of many p2p games.
If SWTOR or Titan launched free to play it would be end of the Developer.
They spend 100's of millions on these games. 50-80 dollar box price has to help cover that initial investment. The 14.99 a month helps to cover server costs and "hopefully" new content to keep players interested.
No worries. GW2 will go F2P first.
haha i doubt it since its already b2p.
Currently Playing: SSFIV AE, SFxTekken, SWTOR, WoW. Waiting for: GW2, Resident Evil 6.
I doubt it'll go F2P, it's not that bad of an mmorpg, I really don't see why people act like it's the worst, I mean it is bland in a lot of areas mainly the starting areas(whether you guys beleive it or not) and gameplay isn't all [that] but it beats most current gen mmorpgs in every aspect.
It'd be nice if it went b2p since 15 extra dollars a month isn't [needed] just able to slide since every other mmorpg does it.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
I don't think it ever will. Of course anything could happen, but this Electronic Arts we are talking about here. I believe they still charge $15 a month for DAoC and Ultima Online. There will probably be some kind of cash shop, but I don't think the sub fee is going anywhere soon.
