The latest TERA producer's letter has arrived with new information about what the En Masse team has been working on over the course of the last several weeks. Among other things, En Masse has been working with BlueHole Studios on several key features that are sure to appeal to Western gamers.
Among other things, Chris Hager mentions that the team has been working on a resizeable/customizable UI, a TERA dungeon finder, a "western" leveling curve, 'western key bindings' and controller support.

A "western leveling curve"?
Comeon. Has it gotten so bad that our entire culture is labeled as a "give it all to me now or I'll QQ"?
This is embarrassing.
Yeah. It really is. This game looks amazing though can't wait for beta

Western leveling curve, dungeon finder..? Kinda reminds me why I quit WoW once and for all.
If this is what TERA will be in west, you can count me out.
Any chance to play in korean server translated in english?
Nope, they patched fixed to remove the translation patch and gave the creator a cease and desist order. I'd rather support the private server that's up right now even though it still needs work. It's better then supporting a company that lies to it's playerbase and thinks we are stupid. BTW westernization = telling the korean devs what to steal from other MMOs.
Exactly. I'll not pay a dime for this 'improved' and 'westernized' TERA. Why aren't we allowed to play these asian MMOs like they were intended?
I'm not a fan of private servers, but if one can offer a decent gaming experience for TERA, I'll try it.
"Western learning curve?" Wtf? Just because I don't like killing a thousand wolves to reach level 2 doesn't mean I'm some how inferior to Koreans.
Really, what learning curves to Korean MMOs have anyway? They're just mindless, repetative, grindfests that amount to little more than clicking a mouse, or spamming number keys.

Since some are unaware of this fact I might as well bring it up. All the changes that are "westernization" are being changed in the Korean version as well. The leveling curve changes were updates in Korean patch notes along with everything else. The things listed here are already in the Korean version of the game even the dungeon finder. We are getting the same exact game as in Korea. EME is just sending stuff to Korea for them to change for their version which we will get a translation of. I hope this enlightens some on this fact and to show that EME isn't doing any changes to the game other then sending BHS suggestions of what needs to be changed.
Was really excited for this game but all the ''Americanization'' is putting me off.
The moment they changed all the armors I knew I wouldnt play this game.
alot of players on paper write they want a longer leveling experience, but when the game hits they melt down. calling it a Korean grind.
just hope the launch will be smooth and no more delay.
RIP Orc Choppa
Yeah because doing mindless repetetive tasks over and over that require zero thought at all is TRULY compelling gameplay.
MMO addicts are embarrassing
Jake Song are you reading this?
Just publish Archeage in NA yourselves. I would like to have a game as close to the core version as possible.
btw: imo ""western" leveling curve" doesnt automatically means: "easier leveling curve".
afaik leveling in tera is not that hard and can be done quite fast.. so i think theres a good chance that we get a harder lvling-curve in us/eu.. but lets see..
Or you could read my previous post and be aware of the truth but whatever. The curve was made easier twice since it was initially released in Korea.
so people want to spend 6-11months trying to get to max lvl in mmos?
Imo its a good thing to westernize a game, people have different tastes.
To be honest why is anyone getting worked over this anyways, bigger crowds brings in bigger development money.
lets face it guys.... every time a Korean game is released here we make huge shit and tell em about how grindy or genetic it is. Let them do w/e they want to the game because tbh we got some of the most picky people in here and they would compain about the slitest things.
I swear this game just can't win rofl. Don't change anything: "qq its a shitty koren port"
They try to fix the problems that other korean games had in advance : this game sucks, just leave it liek it was intended!
This game will get negative feedback no matter what it does just because it's a "eastern" game. But oh well, I still look forward to it.
Exactly it doesn't matter anymore people are gonna bitch either way....
I for one am glad there trying to westernize it I don't feel like grinding mobs for days just to get one level or spending months to get to endgame.
I work almost 60 hours a week and I would actually like to feel that I accomplished something when I'm online...
Long gone are the days of old EQ where it took a week to get one level...
put sweat pants on my loli !! -how dare you !
I expect it to be just like Aion. So it will be hype when its released and then everyone plays and realizes that there is nothing to do in later levels but grind grind more. and new players will realize that they also have to grind all the way to play the game, and till they are grinding there is not much to do but grind.
its a korean game, but im still looking forward to it, at least to try it for some time..
Jake Song please for the sake of god read this and don't let those western publishers touch and ruin ArcheAge. Sucks to see Tera going the super-easymode path.
Maybe this would be the time to say told you so, Frogster is just known for rip off fand supereasy games they were never the right publisher for this kind of game, why EnMasse didn't see that is beyond me.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
Is it much more fun being given everything and guided with today's hand-holding characteristics?
That's even more embarrassing.
