Re-bought SWG: Need Help!

LaserwolfLaserwolf Member Posts: 2,383

I spent 2 years before the release of SWG on the swg.stratics.com forums. I was in the beta and I bought the game upon release. I got has far as Master Scout and Master Marksman, as well as halfway to Novice BountyHunter in Combat Exp when I got tired of the grind and quit. When I was accepted into the Jump To Light Speed Beta without even applying I re-activated my account and tried it out but never bought the official game. A few days ago I broke down and bought SWG: The Total Experience after talking myself out of it for weeks.

I now how a computer 10X better than my previous so I can go through towns without zooming my view into the ground to keep from freezing up. I can even visit the Coronet Starport. My problems are now due mainly to what I believe to be bugs. First of all when I logged in again for the first time I was offered every veteran award imaginable. At least 10 seperate ones including the Sorosuub Luxury Yacht which I thought I was not entitled to since I did not have a continously active account. Let me just say that the first time walking around in it made me drool and thank god I had bought the new version of Galaxies.

Ok, now to my problems. First of all I can't use any of my weapons. My combat level reads 19 and all my old weapons read in the 50s, except for my CDEFs which read 1 combat level or my other pistol which reads only 5. I am a little pissed that as a Master Marksman I can't use jack. Second I have no clue what any of those combat level tabs mean. Mine is grey but some are purple or red. Mine has a hammer on it but others don't. Also a lot of musicians have 80s which makes me doubt that those things are only to show combat levels.

My second problem concerns space flight. I chose to be a privateer pilot since I am a BH or will be soon. However after I did my first space mission for the Talon Kaarde guy in Mos Eisley I got a second mission that gives me all tier 1 ships until the last 2 which are Tier 2. There is nothing I can do to take out Tier 2 guys with an all Prototype(newbie) ship. I figured I would raise my piloting skill by killing random pirates and then train in lvl2/lvl3 equipment so I could refit my weapon and beat the mission. However now my trainer does nothing but tells me "Don't you have somewhere to be". The trainer on Corellia in Coronet says he can't help me because I don't work for CorSec. I can't beat the mission without training and apparently I can't train without beating the mission because someone told me only npcs can train piloting skills. Then I decided to drop the mission and train then start up again but I couldn't find how to quit the mission. It used to be I could do it in my Datapad but only the mission waypoint showed up. I deleted this but now the trainer still acts like I have a mission and I can't find the mission spot because I no longer have the waypoint. To top all this off I have no weapon, no money(It seems like it dissapears from my bank), and everytime I get killed in space the space station won't give me full repairs. I have the money and he says repairs are complete but nothing gets repaired. I have to disc then log back in.

So here is what I need to salvage my second attempt at SWG:

1.Some quick info about the combat level tab and which pistol/rifle/carbine falls around 19.

2.How do I fix my Privateer training problem? Is there another trainer or a way to cancel my mission?

3.How much are Vet Rewards worth? Roughly? I have the Sandcrawler,Imperial Guard, and Imperial shuttle holos as well as the wrap around yacht seat and rebel rug. I also have a 30K resource voucher and an infinite energy harvester. Oh, and I have a full set of composite that hasn't been set to explorer, Assualt, or the other class yet. Whatever the hell those are. Can I get anything for it?

This crap drove me nuts yesterday and I ended up slapping a Stormtrooper in anger and getting fined 3K when all I had was 1.5K as well as getting knocked out. I had no clue he was even going to do anything damn't.

I did see Darth Vader and a ship full of Dark Troopers though so that was a plus....

Please help!

Oh yeah... Didn't Alt use to change the cursor between an arrow and a round icon that allow for different types of movement an on-screen interaction. All I get now is the arrow.

    first and foremost welcome back!

second take a deep breath and exhale.........good

now i hat to tell you this but the game you knew is gone and gone for good.

now that we have that out of the way on to your questions.

1.i dont know exactly what weapons fall into under level 19 but i know there is one pistol that you can use at level 14......to get your combat level up you will need to gain xp and train in combat oriented boxes.  yeah i know it sucks but they really should have a chart or something to.  also the new book from prima which covers the total experience has this chart and it is pretty good.

2.to go up in level in privateer you have to do 1/1/1/1 first then 2/2/2/2 and so forth you cant just go up one tree right after another.  and you have to do missions sometimes to train even if you have the xp yeah that sucks to.

3.vet reward go for different prices on each server u can usually find somebody looking for the self powered harv and 30k resources in starports

these are all part of the game now and not bugs.......i will leave finding the real bugs up to you.

good luck with your travels and if your ever on lowca look for any members with the FPA guild tag we r always willing to help any player in need.

Greatly appreciate the reply. I decided to quit privateer all-together and start it from scratch. I was only 1 mission in anyway and spent 2 hours getting the xp and 9 hours trying to fix my situation. I guess I'll just take things 1 at a time.

As for the vet rewards. Can you give me any kind of range on em. I have not 1 clue and wouldn't know a fair price when I saw one. Any range at all would be great. Thanks.

bout 2 to 3 mill for the self powered harv and the 30k resources.

the holos i have seen them go for various prices starting at like 750k up to a few million just depends on what holos you have for trade.

and dont sell that armor!!!! find out what proffession you want to be and make that armor into another kind of armor that you can use.  the armor will only have base stats but its a great set of grinding armor if ya dont want to spend the cash for a new set.

Right click on it - one symbol for every novice profession and you can set it yourself. You can show others if you consider yourself an artisan, a melee fighter, a ranged fighter, a musician etc. Its for groups so you can easily see what role each one is planning to do.
Also a lot of musicians have 80s which makes me doubt that those things are only to show combat levels.
That only means that besides musician they have combat professions too. Those combat professions push them to combat level 80, but they still have some points left for entertainer skills.
My second problem concerns space flight.
Space is a mixture of storyline missions which you HAVE to do successfully before you can advance (tier 3 is ONLY storyline missions), duty missions (which you can do forever, altough they get harder every time to beat one wave ... you have to go to datapad and with radial menu END the duty mission before you return to your trainer ... duty missions are nice to get XP and faction points quickly) and random XP grinding  (anywhere - there are some sweet spots where you get a mass of XP quickly). Whenever you have enough XP OR done the required storyline mission, the trainer trains you. Check your quest journal if you have completed a mission. You have to do ALL tier 1 boxes before you can advanced to tier 2. You cannot fill up one tree up to tier 4 like you can do in normal professions.
2.How do I fix my Privateer training problem? Is there another trainer or a way to cancel my mission?
You only ever have ONE active trainer. To cancel a mission just fail it by hypering to another system. You are not allowed to leave a system where you have a mission (but you can hyper to other hyperspace points in that system while you do your mission). You get a chewing out from your trainer before he gives you the mission again.
3.How much are Vet Rewards worth? Roughly? I have the Sandcrawler,Imperial Guard, and Imperial shuttle holos as well as the wrap around yacht seat and rebel rug. I also have a 30K resource voucher and an infinite energy harvester.
ADK  .. 10-20 million  (DONT SELL ! You WILL regret it !)
resource voucher ... millions  (Jedi buy it to get the best ever LS stuff)
    infinite energy harvester ... million
Holos, Rugs, Plants, Statues .. several hundred k to several million
    Terminals, seating .. a few hundred k
    BARC speeder .. several million
Prices vary from server to server. BTW its very easy to get money in SWG ... killing tier 1 and tier 2 easy enemy ships in space and selling their loot to the NPC chassis dealer easily nets you 100 k per hour. So ... vet rewards are unqiue and WILL be useful to you at some time, while money is easy to get and you dont need to sell any vet rewards for it.

Oh, and I have a full set of composite that hasn't been set to explorer, Assualt, or the other class yet. Whatever the hell those are. Can I get anything for it?
Keep it for grinding. Its useful as you can decide what armor you need AFTER you have chosen your elite profession. However, the converted pre-CU armor is vastly inferior to the armor currently produced by armorsmiths (and it does not matter if this was the best ever made armor before the CU .. it converts poorly ... but if you have tapes with skill bonus on it consider to keep it).
This crap drove me nuts yesterday and I ended up slapping a Stormtrooper in anger and getting fined 3K when all I had was 1.5K as well as getting knocked out. I had no clue he was even going to do anything damn't.
This has been in for over a year I think.
I did see Darth Vader and a ship full of Dark Troopers though so that was a plus....
If you slap Vader, he force chokes you til incap ... so watch out !
    Please help!

The default setting for keyboard is now "MMORPG Modeless". You might want to switch it back (CTRL-O for Options) to the old "Star Wars Galaxies" setting you are familiar with. Modeless has done away with ALT.
    Have fun, Erillion

Really appreciate all the help. I honestly believe I was either cursed or bugged my first day because when I went back and fought Tier 2s it took me a couple of seconds to blow em up. The first day I spent 5 minutes straight trying to kill them and was only able to get their shields down to 80%.

Great info on wep combat levels and I'll take your advice on the rares.
