here's a thought: Wouldn't it be great if they made a MMORPG for the Nintendo DS or PSP? Yeah, I can already hear the snobs crying about how neither system is powerful enough or has the memory for it, etc. Let's be honest though, The PSP could definately handle the original EQ and I'm actually kinda suprised that they aren't in the process of making Phantasy Star Online DS. The cartridge or Scandisk will only have to hold the User ID and Password for the game since all the character info is in the game's player database. Expansions would be something of a problem, but they did expand both Everquest Online Adventures and FFIX, both for the PS2.
Maybe I'm just a little strange for wanting this. Or maybe I just took stock of my game time and discovered, to my suprise, that most of my game time was being spent on my portable games (GBA / Nintento DS). At any rate, who else is hip on this idea? What games would you like to take with you?
Oh yeah, and UO would work great on the DS. The graphics would have to be heavily modified though.

PSP could handle EQOA fairly easy since its a scaled down PS2...
Interesting idea, though. Personally, I'd much rather see one for the DS, as with the touch screen, having enough buttons wouldn't be an issue. PSP is a bit limited on buttons...would make things harder to configure.
Three major problems:
1) Screen size is ridiculously small for a MMOG.
2) Not nearly enough input options to manipulate any MMOG worth its salt.
3) No keyboard by which to talk to others, which would be a severe hindrance.
Online gaming is coming to the portable, just nothing as sophisticated/complicated as any of our modern MMOGs.
The issue with keyboard can easily be overcome by implementing voice chat instead.

Ha ha. Plus, you'd realize that that lvl 60 Galka or Tauren that always made you feel kind of safe because of his size is actually some 12 year old kid whose voice cracks every 3 sentences.
That is an awesome idea. If they do do that then i might have to be forced to buy a PSP or DS. But they will have to make a good game like EQ, FFXI, etc.... but the point of the game being 2D is a good idea as well. So maybe they should make UO for one of the two. Plus i agree with who ever said that the DS would be better. Its less expensive, voice chat, plus touch screen for chatting purposes. But like you guys mentioned that with out a keyboard it wouldnt be that great. but im sure they can think of some way of communicating.
