I find it ironic though that someone who has been a strong supporter for FFXIV since day one is calling SWTOR 'worst launch ever'. Hey atleast SWTOR has working mounts, AH and mail system on release.
You ask us to defend the points you make and I throw back at you to defend your statement when you clearly defended worse games ( even having a company release a press release saying they know it sucks hard ). Until then, you're just another waste of thread topic space.
Aparently calling them and making sure you understand your rights as a consumer and telling them that they are clearly in breach of their own EULA/TOS gets you up the ranks pretty quick and your code redeemed.
See ya in game! (i am on The Fat Man server /pm me if you want to run some FP's or PvP)
PS: Apparently the site is back up too, they restricted IP's so you might be lucky to get in.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
2. Staggered early access was to avoid 80000 waiting to kill droid 1a and have ninja jerk21093 steal it after waiting 2 hrs.
3. You most certainly didn't complain about FFXIV, why when another game does it do you complain?
4. Devs pulled some of the features like AA for more debugging. There are already work arounds for the moment.
Now to the crux of the situation.... YOU defended FFXIV. DEFENDED a game so bad that it was given away FREE for over a year. How on Earth can you say this is the worst one? This thread made me LOL when I read who the OP was.
Don't forget to buy your crysta so you can buy your sub + buy you character slots.... just a reminder.

This is awesome, didnt know the OP defended FFXIV so vigorously.
I got my game registered last night and rolled on a Full server with some friends who had started on that server and had no issues. No wait and no lag. I can't think of a game that I've played this close to the launch date when that happened.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
OP should go back and look at Mortal Onlines launch............. that is by far the worst launch in MMO history
"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then weve got another one that is actually going to be so were going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what were targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you cant hold me to it. But what were targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo
OP obviously wasn't there for SWG's release which was just horrid.
Also, his other points...Really? Give em a break for once, it's their first foray into MMORPGs. I think they did pretty good to be honest. I have come across the usual bug or 2 that just about every MMO I've ever played had at launch, including WoW. Still loved playing those games and still love playing this one.
/sigh, and the hate keeps on coming. One thing people got right, this game DOES have the WoW stigmata, the stigmata of being HATED on for no reason whatsoever.
I find it ironic though that someone who has been a strong supporter for FFXIV since day one is calling SWTOR 'worst launch ever'. Hey atleast SWTOR has working mounts, AH and mail system on release.
*rolls eyes*
I never had a problem at launch with FFXIV. None of the issues i had with SW:TOR. (yes, now comes the argument of the millions that want to play SW:TOR, EA knew this, they have the numbers, they can prepare!)
I am not a supporter of FFXIV, in fact i stated multiple times that the game is not where it should be and needs a lot of work to be good. I am the first to admit i want FFXIV to be FFXI-2 and they are actually changing it now in exactly that direction.
if anything, I am a strong supporter of FFXI, the best, biggest and most feature complete MMO to date. With still better graphics than the industry leader WoW.
I have to say it again, despite these issues the game is fun and i will play it until my free month is over. That is about the same i can get out of any single player game so i think it's fair.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
As far as i know this is ILLEGAL in many countries.... it`s just that EA is so big by the time they finish the trial we will all be dead of old age... but it`s still as illegal as stealing.
If you buy a car and they give you a broken one that doesn`t have any of the options you picked, would that make it right because you would do the same thing to them if you could?
This is mostly the same only it`s a digital product not a phisical one....
I will get my money back from Bioware tho... they will launch Mass Effect and Dragon Age.... and hello piratebay. So even if the law won`t punish them, i`m getting the value for my money.
I had just preordered my MA copy, but it`s now cancelled.... bring it on Bioware, let`s see who loses more money in the end!
Which makes it not the same at all. The law differentiates very plainly between physical products and digital products. You don't own any of the stuff you purchase online and download digitially; you only own a license to use that product--a license that can be revoked at any time and for any reason without notice by the owner. In the case of online-only games, you're buying a copy and paying a monthly fee for an ongoing license to use their servers to play their game in a way that they deem acceptable. A game publisher could decide it didn't want to operate their MMO anymore and shut the game down entirely, and there would really be nothing its subscribers could do (MAYBE they could put together a class action if it could be proven the publisher had implied ongoing support for a longer time and that the game was still profitable, but I'd be surprised if they'd win it).
Self-entitled people who glorify software piracy as if it's some heroic act of Robin Hood justice are usually delusional to at least a small degree. It boils down to nothing more than you feeling as though a company is charging more for a product you want than you are willing to pay for it, so you're stealing it. Fifteen years ago, if you'd walked into a brick-and-mortar store and stuffed a game down your pants, your chances of getting caught and prosecuted would've been fairly high. Now, in the digital age, they're almost so miniscule that it's like the same odds as winning a lottery jackpot, so you do it anyway.
Most whines are from mmo noobs and the new generation of kids who want it all now and have no understanding. You cannot hae an opinion just because you played one mmo called World of Warcraft, so stfu and gtfo. Whining like a bnch of spoilt brats, welcome to real life.

Aparently he wasnt arounbd for WoWs launch, thats for sure.
Really, if the op thinks this is possibly the worst launch ever he must be oretty new to mmos.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling" Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Jeezus, if this is what you class as 'worst MMO launch ever', you've lived a sheltered life
You should have seen the state of Anarchy Online in 2001, now that was a horror show!
IMO, this is one of the best MMO launches
If you care to check my bithdate you will find i played MMO's before that term was even coined and people called them MUD's.
What i am saying is that a company like EA that had knowledge in advance about all these issues still does nothing to prevent them. this is gross negligence, nothing else.
EA had all these examles of how you can prevent a release disaster learning from previous failures, yet they did nothing to prepare. (or failed at trying)
On top of that lying to your customers, canceling their orders and not even re-imbursing their 5 bucks from pre-order is for me the issue that tips it over.
Worst Ever.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
Blatant lies about a grace period. Then suddenly 2 days grace period after consumer organizations where informed.
Staggered early access that did nothing to help with overpopulation or queues
Unfinished game (mobs with no animation, missing voice acting on quests (the much hyped feature)
Ghost town syndrome. Sterile and lifeless environment partly due to heavy instancing (max 100 players per instance)
No advanced graphics features enabled (no high res textures, no AA, Anisotrophy, View distance etc.)
Only a few street conversations (random NPC chatter) are voiced, the rest is jsut text or missing completely (90% is missing)
Complete stop of sales in Europe even before the game was released (you still can not buy the game in europe from Origin)
Forum and website completely overloaded and shut down when there are patches.
Unable to enter Product Key or subscribe because servers are completely overloaded.
Unable to post on forums for help when you are not subscribed.
The game is still incredibly fun to play though for one playthrough but not worth a monthly subscription.
PS: please do not reply if you have anything else then a valid argument to contribute or counter any of my points. Spare me the usual "But thats how MMO's launch", "there will be a miracle patch" yada yada yada...
You want someone to address your whining?
- Grace period happened just fine...i was on like thousands of others.
-overpopulation and queues... a 20 minute wait on average is too long on a new release? LOL if you have nothing to do for 20minutes while you wait...u need a life or dont have your mom make you dinner while u wait at you pc.
-unfinished game..i have yet seen a problem with the voice or video but i know how to update my pc.
-ghost town...im sorry but almost every mmo lets you run around in an open environment then you instance into a zone. there is nothing new here. Your raids in other games are the exact same thing.
-Graphics...they dont need to make it pimped graphics b/c the way they designed the engine. They arent using the unreal engine. Also you can use your Hardware options to force AA and other things.
-Busy server for the website and posting......theres millions of people doing the same thing you are and it happens.
As for you last comment about sparing you the usual, you sound just like my 8 year old who want to complain with no valid reason and the only way for him to "win" is to say spare me the usual. Thats b/c the usual is the proper and correct answer and not his whining.

Chances are, calling them and discussing your issue like an empathetic human being without the baseless threats would've gotten your problems handled, too, but I doubt you tried that. I'm willing to bet it wasn't fear of the legal ramifications from you, an oh-so-powerful consumer, that caused your CSR to do their job and help you out. It was probably that, you know, it was their job, and that they work for a company that genuinely wants their fans to enjoy their products, and probably it was also that you were a jerk and the CSR is having a long day and they wanted to get you off the phone as soon as possible.

There needs to be a "This person obvisouly has a useless thread" button somewhere. This website..... This website.....

Or world of warcraft's launch.. /shudder.
I have to agree. I'm sitting here unable to enter my product code after playing all week. How did they not predict the numbers?
The real question is how did they make the UI so abyssmal?
The UI could not be worse. It's like DCUO made the UI.
I never had a problem at launch with FFXIV. None of the issues i had with SW:TOR. (yes, now comes the argument of the millions that want to play SW:TOR, EA knew this, they have the numbers, they can prepare!)

I dunno, other then wanting to be able to move some things around a bit I have no problem with the UI at all.

Don't reply unless I have a valid argument?
How bout' don't post unless you have a valid non-subjective point of view.
Thanks for sharing and making the forums your soapbox, in the end nobody really cares other than to point our your own fallacies.

Understatement of the year.
You can't unlock your Camera from Auto Follow
No Chat bubbles
Can't Resize/move any Ui element
Can't hide any ui element
No /roll built into the game
Raid frames don't update health for healers
No war front UI to see the score (literally nothing)
Lack of graphic options
Can't hide empty bar buttons
Not a single moveable bar and 4 hot bars max
These are just off the top of my head.
Chances are, calling them and discussing your issue like an empathetic human being without the baseless threats would've gotten your problems handled, too, but I doubt you tried that. I guess not since you could not resist to post a reply with nothing of value to the argument i made. Well done, my friend.
