World War 4 has broken out on this forum.

The funny thing is that only like 1% of mmorpg players will ever read any of these threads, so as far as I can imagine, everything written on this forum is pretty much irrelevant in every way. So much debate and rage...it will affect nothing. Therefore, there is no need to get upset or angry. No need to delete accounts or to be discouraged. This is the 1%. No one should let words from such a small minority of people bother them so much.

I'm not saying all young people are bad, just most of them ruining it for the others.

sad but true, but this is it, while industry is gathering more money than ever to make better games to who? the ones that pay half greated theme park story games.

the reason why today forums and games are like they are is cause gaming is not forbidden anymore its in everyones homes, phones and wherever.

And it is in that vein that I say goodbye to you all now. I've discovered that I no longer enjoy MMORPG.com.

The overwealming number of people and accounts who are here for the sole purpose of disrupting threads (and attempting to spread negative propaganda about games they have no interest in playing) makes it pretty much impossible to do what I used to actually come here to do: discuss a game with other people who play it.

Therefore the site no longer serves it's purpose for me, and only causes me to be frustrated with how far this place has fallen.

And so I realised that there is really no reason for me to come here if I don't enjoy the content of the site anymore.

You guys can have your Troll Bridge, and your petty, bitter bickering. You can all argue until your hands fall off that every game that is not SWG2 / EVE2 / Ultima3d is just another WoW. And that even if SWG2 / EVE2 / Ultima3d were made, no one would play them.

You can tell each other how wrong you are for enjoying these games....that you are wasting your money playing them.....while having nothing to play yourselves.

I won't be here to see it. This is my final post, and when I get home from work today I will be deleting this account.

I will be playing and enjoying MMORPG games, whis is what this site USED to be about.

Edit: I don't usually post "goodbye" threads....I usually just quietly leave. But when you have been a part of something for this long, I think one deserves a final post.

All I hear is *flounce*. If you hate this place just quit, don't make a dramatic whiny goodbye thread.

It's not dramatic and whiny, it's true, these forums are more filled than others I've been of [mod edit]who can only see things from their own perspective and if someone else feels any other way they are wrong and blind etc etc all that stupid crap. People who does not tolerate other people if they dont like the same things, that's fucking retarted, some of them are even [mod edit] dont understand that other people have their own minds.

I've been thinking the same thing... really this place has devolved into a cesspool, and even with increased moderation, you'll never find a positive community here,  because this is where MMORPG gamers come to die.

Very few of the posters here seem to really like the genre... the complain theres nothing good out,  or what just released won't even be worth their time...  or that the next big release isn't an "MMORPG"  or what ever hooplah they convince themselves of...  and its a sad state for this site,  but an amazingly positive thing for the future of MMORPGs.

Perhaps people just can't grasp the concept that people like different things, and that just because you don't like it,  you don't have to try and ruin it for everyone else -- because it ends up being exactly what this site is - the MMO player graveyard.

I, however, have chosen to stay...  I like quite a few of the posters here... I like the staff, and every now and then the articles are enjoyable to read because those that run MMORPG.com aren't idiots or biggots and often see the kind of shine I do when playing games.

It's not dramatic and whiny, it's true, these forums are more filled than others I've been of dumb retards who can only see things from their own perspective and if someone else feels any other way they are wrong and blind etc etc all that stupid crap. People who does not tolerate other people if they dont like the same things, that's fucking retarted, some of them are even so dumb that they dont understand that other people have their own minds.

I played and play lots of themepark games and have no problem with them. At the same time I am looking for a really nice sandbox, and making 1 on HE although its community development so probably won't ever get finished, and I am also making my own text based and eventually changed to isometric super sandbox/mmorts mix game. I have no problem with fail trolls failing or people whining or complaining about such and such, but then I also visit atheist and feminist websites where the drama is way more intense so the stuff here is tame by comparison.

    Either way OP flounced.

I completely understand the OP fustration. Heck, the reactions to this very thread is proof of how pathetic many posters on this site are. Its too bad because soon all this place will be left with is trollls and flamers. The moderation of this site is a joke.

I'm not seeing much flaming or trolling, just lots of people on a forum who do not agree with eachother. Isn't that what a forum is all about? To have a discussion with people who have their own opinion? I don't get it because if someone loves a game and posts about it that is fine, yet if they do not like it and post then that is trolling? I love it when someone doesn't have the same feelings as me, it means we can have a discussion and come to an understanding.

  • VolgoreVolgore Member EpicPosts: 3,872

People confuse "hating" with displaying a negative opinion way too often.

There is all sorts of ways to troll of course... but if you enter a thread that the topic is about saying positives about a game, and you post negatively towards a game, that is BORDERING on trolling. It isn't until you start arguing with the inhabitants of that thread that it can become trolling.

If you, instead, went and made your OWN thread about posting negative things about the same game, then it would actually reverse the situation on the positive people. Thus, the best way to avoid trolling is to avoid irritating the inhabitants of a thread by knowing what the topic is.

However, there are times when a thread contains NO contrary information towards the thread title, and you may feel it needs it. You may add to the thread by posting it. However, the forum is not a contest, so debating is unnecessary and irrelevant. Simply posting a side of an argument is sufficient for any observers in the discussion.

You just found out how these forums work. It is a matter of business and advertising-contracts with the companies.

I really dont get what you are trying to accomplish or do by saying this, it seems like you are suggesting that people should not bring up their dissapointment with a site that they have been using for a long time, then again, you dont sound stupid enough to go on about with such demands, wishes, or assumptions, as it is completely normal to bring up your dissapointment as a long time user if the said site becomes a turd pile.

Need some thicker skin. This is nothing compared to what us FFXIV players had to put up with.

Disagreeing is more than fine, it's normal, you dont have to like what I like. The retarted part begins with the hordes of people on this site trying to force their opinions as facts, or when they are trying to convince people to not like something, often directly calling others idiots for having their own likings and too often also spreading blatant lies or assumptions. That's not disagreeing, that's what makes this site the ever growing turd pile that it has rapidly evolved more and more into imo.

He isn't bringing up his disappointment. He is whning and saying I quit and I deserve my own thread about my quitting cause I'm so damn important. Making a thread about how you wish there was elss flaming is fine, although a waste of time. Quitting is fine. Making a thread about quitting so that everyone knows you quit as if it was a big deal to anyone but you is flouncing and its sad and pathetic. Whats worse is that this forum isn't even that bad in terms of flames so he just looks silly.

    I hear ya Whargoul

It can get pretty frustrating and hilarious at the same time. You are one of the few poster's on this site I actually enjoy reading, because of your thoughtful intelligent post's.

The amount of trolling and or assinine post's on this site is definately on the  increase.

    @OP

People aren't trolling or overly negative, they just have differing opinions on what makes up a good MMO. Some people tend to take negative views or criticisms of the things they like personally... which I assume is the issue for you since you have a SWTOR related sig.

Either way, you'll be back. If you were truly fed up with this site, you wouldn't have bothered posting a "goodbye" thread.

Goodbye while you are leaving i am arriving. Yeah but I really do see what you are trying to say. Many forums don't contribute anything but many people just come to have a good time. Many people choose to post in the off topic section cause they want to have someone to talk to about a certain subject or even a game. Many people leave forums to find a new one or don't find a new one at all. But i think all forums will have their own trolls and there is no escaping it.

    Agree 100%.

But, since entertainment is the sole reason for me visiting MMORPG.com, this is not a problem. Heck, the nerd drama over SWTOR is pure fun!

Wasn't going to do this but since I am bored at work I might as well.
It's not just SWTOR....it is every game that has been released since AoC. I have waited for years to see if this site would turn around, and it hasn't.
I created this thread because I have known some of the people here for years, and it wouldn't be right to leave without saying goodbye.
I would say that the responses in this thread speak volumes about what is wrong with this site, and only serve to confirm that I am making the right choice.

Yeah, that this forum has a bunch of QQ whiners on it. And liars to boot. Good riddance.

I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

We are getting way too many threads like this, we need a section for this. Seriously, half the threads I see are to do with complaints about the people who post on the forum or the rules and regulations of the forum, or the mods being too bureaucratic. It's like the a neo-religion and politics section metamorphosis.

We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
