Billing Complaints

I have read too many threads regarding to Grace Period and Subscription.

In my 10 years MMO life, for almost all the Paid monthly MMO, I have to insert my Credit Card number in order for me to play the game!!  [mod edit]

Besides, about the queue time, sometimes it gets annoying if you are in need to wait for 1000+  (but to now, the highest I have waited was only 300+) but this is what it needs to spread around people.  I can't even play 3-4 days in Aion (if you can remember their launch).  This is a normal routine when a new hyped MMO release.

I am going to enjoy the game, my CE, and my gorgeous Jedi!  [mod edit]

People will continue to complain. Its just usual for p2p mmos to do this.

Enter Info > Subscribe > Cancel > Your good to go without paying.

The only issue I see is they try and pull a fast one and deny service if you cancel. Then I can see people yelling about it.

Oh, and I don't like this game, in case you people think I'm a fanboy.

  • sammyelisammyeli Member Posts: 765

I think its mainly people who do not want to put a credit card up, they need to fork up 30 bucks for a time card. And I think alot of people joining this game probably havent played other p2p games lol because they should know that already.

Gotta make sure you defend yourself thusly, how horrible it would be if the trolls from mmorpg.com think less of you.

To be fair, some people never may have noticed the whole "dollar charge" thing before. It's more of a comment on people's general knowledge of finances and their ability to cope with life than anything else. That they then turn around and waste so much effort posing here is the sad part.

..... and they never think about how to work harder to earn more money, instead blaming Government why I'm not richer, or blaming the God why my father is not Bill Gate...

sigh ......  and now they blame Bioware .....

Forgive me I don't play this game, but is it just by the month or are they wanting you to pay in 3 month intervals or what? Or are they wanting your credit card information for continuous billing? Paying by the month is normal, continuous billing is NOT.

    1) Write in your credit card info

    2) Activate your account

    3)Cancel your account

    4) Play your free 30 days!

    ...is that really SO hard?

I'm willing to believe some people are stupid and careless enough not to check their statements on a regular basis, which is depressing. But I don't think we should lower our standards in these discussions.

Not really. Was it the question though?

Had to heavily edit this one, but I felt there was some potential for discussion here. Let's keep it civil from here on out, k? Thanks!

Oh they make you put in your credit card information before you get the 30 days, that is a little unusual I guess, but are they billing by the month or putting you on a payment plan is the real question. Are you prepay now then pay or give credit card number and pay when we say you pay kind of thing?

Thanks. One month shouldnt be such a big deal then, well it must be the Star Wars non gaming fans I suppose.  You know theres a reason non gamers aren't gamers to begin with lol.

Its not a charge, its a preauthorization.  Same thing happens if you fill your tank at a gas station only they hold 75-100, not 1.

I work make a good amount around $32/Hour  but bad budgeting is bad budgeting. The very small amounts of money spent are usually the ones you want to control since large purchases you definatly look out for.

I mean thats one of the reasons I did not fork the money for this game, because its not (for me atleast) worth 65+15 USD for a game thats not enjoyable (once again for me).

And you can say hey whats 15 dollars anyway you can do that, but to me 15 bucks is 3 days of lunch or maybe half of a dinner on a night out with the wife.

Its just how you look at it.

You are right, bad budgeting is bad budgeting. That is what got us into this global economic mess in the first place. People need to become responsible for their own actions, and not be trying to blame others. They can't afford the $15 a month, oh well. Don't play until you have re-budgeted your lifestyle in a way that allows you to, if you still want to. If not, so long and thanks for all the fish. But for the sake of all that is holy in the universe, people should stop blaming others for their own lack of life management.

So there is a risk that a player bolts without paying the game?! There is no need to make rl analogies.

Customer prepaid and is asked for billing information for possible future services. That is not common in other business practices, not where I live anyway. The useraccount+retail key information also makes it unnecessary.

In the case of GTC payment option it also becomes an additional charge. A friend of mine got rid of his CC because of the hacking drama's last year. He wasnt a target, but he wants to prevent becoming a target and for games he thinks a GTC is a good way to do that. I know its his own choice, but the GTC is supposed to be a viable payment option on the same lvl as CC. The mandatory charge on account activation makes it not the same.

There isn't any mandatory charge on account activation... You put in your payment information, select a plan, and aren't charged until the prepaid time is up.

Just out of interest, Does it say anywhere on the physical box "no credit card required"?
