I am waiting patiently for an opportunity to test a game that may have promise.
but two things.
As a company, you dont offer something you cant deliver. Even if it is something as simple as a keychain. It starts to engender bad will among casual fans and just in general isnt a good business practice, IMO.
While I appreciate a message from KFR and RB concerning the beta accounts, and even as far as the email. But it just seems like another stalling technique to stop the people from posting on forums compaining about how they havent gotten their accounts yet. I completely understand that things happen and this is a huge endeavor, but isnt it better for everyone if they say, "We will get you in within the month, or at the next beta invites next month" rather than 'You'll hear in a week' then "oh, you'll hear within 48 hours" and then "Oh, heres the email, but now something isnt working on the website so we'll send you a message as soon as its fixed in about 48 hours", then 72 hours later still nothing....
That being said, I will continue to go about my routine, and patiently check back and forth for the email to come.
I agree, promising things and then not delivering up on them makes me wonder if the game is going to be the same way. It's bad business, yo udon't go around advertising key chains and then keep saying, "ya we'll have it to you within 24 hours." Then not do it in 24 hours. It just all seems like a big hype right now, you shouldn't try advertising free items yet if you can't follow through. Learn to manage what you can do first (advertise) and don't make more work for yourself.
it shouldn't be like, "HEY EVERYONE FREE BETA! Come sign up!" Then when you've won the beta test key you have to wait 3-4 weeks because you're unimportant due to all the other tasks they have and how busy they are. Makes it look like you were just trying to hype the game and don't really care about delivering anything. Marketing gimmics...
KFR shouldn't have to be replying on everything himself, I wonder howcome they don't have a community manager dealing with this stuff? The fact that he takes on sooo many tasks himself makes me wonder just how small scale this company is and what they're capable of doing.
The fact that KFR takes time out of his busy schedule to reply to us is wonderful but I'm not going to feel pity for him, he adventured down a road that could land him thousands of dollars in the long run... and he shouldn't do things he can't follow through on.
If they ran into problems now, it's because they didn't prepair for the contest in the first place. The first thing I would have done would have been to set up a system so that in the application all I had to change was one word.
"Click here if you're an mmorpg winner"
mmorpg being the key word to change per site that wins. Then the code would check the users profile to see if he's in a winning list and the name would change depending on what variable of a list you put him in.
This means I can advertise to my hearts content with ease. The only thing I'd have to do is manually add the e-mails to the lists.
I'm tired of trying to be excited about this... and I'm tired of trying to be moral about this. This is a business that wants to make money like every other business. If it was not a profit business I would understand and feel pity for these people... but these people aren't only trying to make a game, they're trying to hit it big. I just hate feeling like a little puppet.

I agree, but what if they ran into an unexpected problem while trying to set everything up for the mmorpg.com winners? So far RB has appeared to be a very proffesional company, I won't be judging the company from one little problem they may have had.
Can I get some word from a community member on the whereabouts of all of the (new) emails. I have received one, the 48 hours one, at that is all.

Im curious to how long we actually have to wait.... Its killing me though when they give a date though and dont live up to it . Apparently they are really busy though so still waiting.
They email said the commercial test application page "should" be up in the next 48 hours. I'm sure it will be up soon but think of it this way, every day the game gets a bit better as they work on it so the longer the wait the better the game.
I sincerely hope people from this site will encounter problems or bugs and then report them and help the game get better and not just find bugs, think to yourself this game is crap, and then go flaming it on the message boards here. If you do that, you are a loser and should be forced to have a sleep-over with Star Jones.

Keep in mind that Blizzard made promises about WoW and didn't deliver a lot of them, and see where the game's at now, the most popular and the biggest playerbase since the beginning of MMOs with 3.5M monthly subscribers.
While i do understand that it is not fun to wait for something we've all been expecting sooner, do not judge a company only because of that. I'm sure you'll find a lot of bigger company having you waiting for more important things, or even governments as a matter of facts.
The thing is, we won beta accounts from MMORPG.com. Nothing was ever mentioned about WHEN the beta would be ready. It never said "Once you have been selected you will be able to downlaod and play the beta that second!".
I agree being made to wait does engender bad feelings toward a company, from impatient kids who want what they want RIGHT NOW! The beta will be ready when the beta is ready, no sooner and no later. Read a book if you can't stand it. I recommend Stephen King.
And also, getting to beta this game is a privelege even though we won a contest. Also we will be responsible for testing the game I hope people dont take it lightly. Not only is your fun riding on it, but real life peoples incomes are riding on it. People that work long days (longer than you or I will likely ever have to work) and put all their creativity into it.
That having been said, if all goes well, I will RULE YOU ALL!

I recommend Jeffrey Deaver or Robert Crais, and i say that without having read any of their books (although i was going to start today) and without having read a single book, apart from the ones we had to read at school, for several years.
In response to the people who are saying it is unreasonable for people to voice their opinions on how they think they deserve their accounts right now, i dont really think it is unreasonable for them to be doing that on these forums although if they started PMing the devs at RBL asking when they would be let in then that would be unreasonable. I however am not one that is waiting impatiently and i have no problem with waiting any longer to test the game, although the anticipation is killing me and i check my email at least 5 times a day, plenty of emails arriving from the RV site, but they always turn out to be about threads i have subscribed to on their forums Keep it up though everyone i enjoy coming to these forums and reading all the debates going on.
EDIT: I read the Blue Nowhere by Jeffrey Deaver, I highly recommend it! Lots of amazing facts about cyberspace and the internet.
lol that must be torture subscribing to threads on the official forums. I won't do that just because the next email from Red Bedlam is going to be the good one Remember Rome wasn't coded in a day hehe but I expect many homes in the game to burn to the ground in much less time Still haven't decided whether I will go Roman or Barbarian.
Barbarian is my first instinct as I am of british and germanic heritage, but I wanna see rome too and it might take a year to walk there from northern europe. I must say the thought of a historical RPG is exciting me in a way I never would have thought. I love fantasy games but this one has caught my imagination big time as well.
well ive done reading on internet about all sorts of junk. so i got bored today and in my kitchen the flys are stupid enough to buzz at the window so i soak them with water and throw them in a spider web i think to myself..... damn.... i must be bored. hahaha but reading has been keeping me some what occupied.

Yeh i think you should go roman and start in britannia, then after youve saved some money and maybe got a horse and some good skills, set off for Rome. Well id do that cause thats what im going to do lol.
